Mary Beth the owner, innkeeper, and breakfast chef, deserves a lot of praise. She has found a really great location for hosting visitors to the nearby university in Northern Tacoma, and has impeccable attention to detail. The first breakfast I had was delicious — a blueberry scone, omelet, sausage, berries, orange juice, and coffee. The guests whom I met were all extremely delightful and I learned a lot in just a short period of conversation with everyone. The second breakfast on Day 2 was a stuffed French toast with sausage, berries, etc. The rooms were decent, you have a bed, couch/sofa, access to a television/cable, and a bathroom either inside the room or external and immediately down the hallway. That might vary depending on the price. Also, book far ahead, since this B&B seems very popular! I hear that graduation time period fills up quickly. Down the street a few blocks away were other bed and breakfasts, but I know that this one has been around since at least the past 12 years or so. Mary Beth goes to great lengths to research her menu and attend conventions to learn how to make the best omelet or scours cookbooks for menus. I also know she’s a fan of Costco for sourcing her ingredients, but she also grows herbs in her yard for garnish.

One of the best B&Bs we have ever visited! Innkeeper/Owner incredible host: perfect combination of professional background-experience with Innkeeper personality. From Tacoma so she can help with just about any information. Don’t skip breakfast — it was 6 stars!!! Comfortable, clean — can’t say enough about the Green Cape Cod!

The actual house was ok, but I had a pretty bad experience with the proprietor. I was there for a job interview, so it was already a higher anxiety situation for me than typical travel, and her anxious energy just left a really bad taste in my mouth. She would offer me coffee, and then indicate I was filling my coffee cup to full. She would ask me a question(like to be polite/make conversation, etc) and then tell me I was answering too loudly(I do tend to speak from the diaphragm, but nothing over the top). I felt like she kept prompting me to do something and then be on my case about how I was doing it wrong, when honestly I would have much preferred to be left alone to gather my thoughts over being micromanaged. A bit too critical of a place to stay for my taste. Maybe I should stick with hotels where there’s anonymity and professional-level courteousy? Either way, the place I was interviewing with picked the place and so I really didn’t have a say or know any better about my experience going into it anyway. I think when I typically travel, I tend to prefer to be around a calmer energy than this place offers.
