Friendly, Inexpensive and very close to my house … Can’t complain. About to try the soup which I heard its bomb.

Totally intrigued off the bat when I saw that one of my favorite tv shows actually filmed a scene here. HERE!!! As in… Just a few feet down the street from my house!!! I figured, hey the food must be bomb! And Thai food is definitely among my fave Asian dishes. Long story short, I was pretty disappointed. Not the usual Thai food I enjoy at all.

I’m surprised by reading the reviews for this place… :\ Let me just say… the portions are LITTLE, and for what you pay, it just isn’t worth it. The taste of the food is just, okay. I’ve lived here in sylmar for about 5 years, and only have been here 2 – 3 times just because I’m not so fond of this place.

Foods always delicious here and the food has great flavor. I never go anywhere else for Thai food. I’ve been coming here for the last 13 years.

Wow I’m surprised by all the rave reviews. I’ve eaten at this place maybe 10 times in the last 20 years or so. A couple friends of mine really like this place, I don’t know why. I think it’s actually kinda gross. The prices are ridiculous for the taste, the food is sub par and nothing special. They do manage to make almost decent soup, yet it’s ridiculously over priced. Don’t get the Pad Thai or Prik King, it’s not good and nothing like you imagine. The peanut sauce is greasy and not peanuty. The curry is watered down, the soup is almost decent yet they ruin it with variations of veggies. Over all, just not a fan. Sorry Sylmarites, this Thai disappoints.

In my quest to find great Thai food I came across Dome Pochana. Checked out the reviews and well as a die hard Sons of Anarchy fan I just had to try this place. I wanted to love this place. Sit and hang out in the same place that Charlie Hunnam was in. but it just wasn’t meant to be. We ordered the Pad See Ew and Fried Rice with chicken. Pretty basic, I’m not that adventurous with my thai food yet. But it was just ok. I’ve had better so why go back.

I love Thai food as it’s one of my favorite cuisines so being in the area the Unilocal reviews helped me pick this spot. We ordered 2 lunch specials. One chicken one beef. The food tasted bland and the sauces were watery. The rice seemed a bit over cooked or as if it had been sitting there, not the regular fresh texture you would expect. The noodles were probably the only great thing. The service was ok but nothing to call splendid and definietly not a place I would rate higher than 3 stars or a place I would return to for Thai food.

Great staff, friendly. Our family visits often. Favorites are tom yum soup, chow mein and wings. And of course Thai iced tea… with boba! Good prices and good portions.

It’s possible I just ordered the wrong items because I really really had high hopes that the food would have been more authentic. Everything felt right up until I got back to my office and opened up my panang curry and prik king. The prik king smelled amazing but was really watery, I had also asked for it extra spicy but it was definitely more like mild. The green beans didn’t have a nice char of the curry paste like I’m used to. But it was edible. I couldn’t deal with the panang curry. I had one bite and covered it up again. The coconut milk looked curdled in the curry and it was more soupy than curry like. It didn’t have much of a curry flavor and I felt like it was just a waste of money. It just makes me sad.

GREATFOODANDSERVICE! I had not eaten here for over 12 years since I no longer worked in Sylmar but I was in the area today so stopped by for lunch. The dining room looked the same, with beautiful Thai artwork on the wall. We ordered won ton soup, yellow curry chicken, spicy shrimp and squid, and pad see ew with chicken. The curry chicken lunch came with a small salad(with an interesting peanut dressing). The food came pretty quickly and our young lady server was very nice. The food was very tasty and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. The prices are reasonable too. I will be back!

Got takeout on a weeknight and ordered the chicken Pad Thai and the Pineapple Curry. The servings were very large and I was excited to see that each of the dinner specials came with a spring roll and soup or salad. The spring roll and wonton soup were delicious. Unfortunately the pad thai was dry and bland and the rice was equally bland – I barely touched the pad thai. The curry was just ok but not anywhere near the best I have ever had. We also ordered the Thai ice tea and those were very good.

I come here often during work days and it’s a favorite in the area. They have great affordable lunch specials which include soup/salad and white/fried rice. The food is consistently good — I’m partial to the yellow curry, the BBQ chicken/pork, the basil + meat/tofu… And much more. :) Thanks Dome Pochana!

Saw their listing on Unilocal and decided to give it a go. Went and love it! We ordered the Panang and the pad see eew. We would go to north Hollywood for some good Thai food. But knowing we have a good spot near home it’s even better!

I have been a customer of Dom Pochana for many years. Such good, authentic Thai food. I am a vegetarian and there are many vegetarian menu options to choose from. I like the vegetable curry. Food is always fresh and delicious. The lunch and dinner combos are very reasonable and you get SOMUCHFOOD! Come hungry!

Came in hopes of getting a salad but ended up ordering this delicious kung pao chicken. This plate came with a side of wonton soup(your choice) Big portion and well priced. The waitress was adorably friendly.

Came to Dome Pochana with teacher friends from Olive Vista Junior High School back in the 1980’s. Not too much has changed except the interior decorations may be a bit spiffier. The food seems as though it has stood the test of time & the«tried & true» are still the hits on their menu listing. Because the clientele is mostly non-Thai, to be on the safe side, none of the dishes ordered will be fortified with that powerful elixir, Capsicum, relative to the deadly Nightshade. If having a piquant sensation is «de rigueur» to your eating habits, make sure to say that you want the food to be medium hot or HOT. If you don’t, the Thai food will come out Wussifed. The Thai waitress was most hospitable, friendly as well as thinking ahead to make sure that I got the most kind service throughout my stay. I wanted to order the Green Coconut Chicken Curry & the Pad Ka Pao Pork(Pork sauteed with mint leaves). To get the most out of the deal, the waitress suggested a dinner special that included Wonton Soup or salad, fried appetizers, egg fried rice or steamed rice, with the Green Coconut Chicken Curry. The Pad Ka Pao could be ordered as an «a la carte» dish. 1) The cup of Won Ton Soup was delightfully hot in contrast to most restaurants now that serve soup tepidly warm since the lawsuit against McDonalds where a person put a cup of hot coffee between his/her legs while driving. The coffee spilled out & supposedly scalded his/her boink boink. The wonton skin was soft, diaphanous, velveteen while the center had a bit of minced spiced pork for a meaty finale. The soup based seemed like a well modulated chicken broth with bit of soy sauce, & fresh cilantro added a strong herbal greeness. Also, sprinkling a bit of the white pepper added a smoky, heat that married well to the Umami filled broth. Nice way to start the meal. 2) There were two fried Won Tons which weren’t quite as ethereal as the ones in the soup. Also, there was one vegetable fried egg roll. All these could be dabbed with a sweet sour sauce which looked very red from food coloring. I wasn’t too impressed by these fried foods which lacked refined flavours. The oil they were fried in could have been used many times before so that flavours & odors from the previous foods seemed to be infused. 3) The Pad Ka Pao Pork is a mélange of onions, carrots, mushrooms, red & green sweet bell peppers, aromatic Thai Basil sauteed in oyster sauce, nampla(fish sauce), touch of garlic. I had to add in the chiles available from the various jars to up the chile piquancy as well as adding a bit of gastrique from the vinegar pickling the chiles to amp up the flavours in the Pad Ka Pao. This went along very well with the steam rice acting like a bland counter weight to the flavourful Pad Ka Pao. 4) The Green Coconut Curry is a rich, heavy dish since it is fortified with thick coconut milk. The sauce is lightly agrodolce(sweet/sour), creamy with pieces of green beans, carrots, slices of bamboo shoots and a bit of Thai basil. This dish reminds me of a more watery, runny version of the French Gratin. This is another dish that requires rice or some kind of starch to round out the flavour profile. Ice Tea was the preferred beverage on a hot 90 degree day. I really made the waitress work since I drank at least 4 refills, but she still kept on smiling while she probably thought I was at least half camel. Finally dessert was the Thai Ice Tea. The tea is exceptional for its natural deep orange/brown tint with a touch of smoky, roasted scent. The condensed milk adds a extra sweet, rich creaminess that melds well with the orange/brown tea. A great dessert if you’re too full to eat a more solid sweet. Again, the waitress was most forethoughtful serving the Thai Ice Tea in a take-out cup so that if I didn’t finish, I could take it with me. I got to enjoy it later at home watching the Danish political drama series, Borgen featuring Pilou Asbaek. The food at Dome is a 3+ Unilocal stars, but the extra friendly & thoughtful service by the most accommodating waitress adds that extra ½ star. BTW, Orange Chicken & Sichuan Chicken are NOTTHAI food. PS It would help with the dining pleasure if the napkins were a little more substantial. The napkin used now is only good for only halfway through the meal.
