This is the worst Bertucci’s I have ever been to. We live less than 2 miles away but I refuse to go there anymore and now go to Uno’s nearby. Everytime we have gone for takeout or to eat in house they put cheese on my food which I say not to. I tell them I have an allergy, they don’t care. So much the I was confronted by management once ordering in house and a few months later over takeout. I don’t know why we kept going. We sent a tweet to Bertucci’s and they responded to email their customer service. Customer service never responded. Then, had this happen again at the route one place when we decided to change locations. Now we just don’t go at all. If you look on Bertucci’s webpage all the rolling tweets are«I’m sorry you had that experience» or a marketing message they posted. It has gone WAY down hill. So sad. They had tons of yummy things once. I loved the roasted veggies and rolls. I used to go for lunch at work in Lexington too. However, rolls are just not enough to keep this brand afloat when they mess with food allergies. I even had a waitress come to my defense saying she wrote it on the slip and I did say it. Still got eyes rolled, scowls on faces, and pure rudeness from management. It is like the customer is annoying and cheese is more important. Just train everyone to not put parm on everything. It’s not a garnish it is a former food group.

Ive been here many times, and the service quality can definitely vary. Like many chain restaurants, the prices are a little high for average quality food. Portions are quite large. Very good family enviornment.

We dined at this location as well as few other Bertuccis before. I decided to order some calzones today to bring to my parents. I ordered five calzones for five people. We have ordered those before while dining in, and they were somewhat good. This time they were to go. When I brought those to my parents’ house and we opened boxes it was quite embarrassing. I’ve never seen $ 11 calzones smaller than a palm of hand. When I called them and asked if they made lunch size by mistake, I was told that’s the only regular size they make. As I’ve mentioned before, we ordered calzones at different bertuccis in the past, and they were about twice the size of these. The ones we got today were barely bigger than«Hot– Pockets». But five«Hot Pockets» won’t cost you $ 55. Could it be because I’ve mentioned a coupon on the phone? possibly… Unfortunately, not a single one of us was full after we finished them, and no one in my family is over 180 lbs. They did however come with a useless small side salad and a container of marinara sauce. By looking at pictures of 4.5 inch marina containers you can judge for yourself what size calzones we got… I really hope that their corporate office will look at this review and make some changes. Otherwise, they will continue to lose customers.

Service was fine. I ordered the luncheon chicken parmesan. Nothing spectacular. Watered down pomodoro sauce literally had my chicken and pasta swimming in liquid. The chicken was cooked perfectly tho. Only thing I might have done differently is pounded out the chicken much thinner but aye oh I’m Italian. Not a bad meal for the value much better than olive garden which felt like 2 perdue cutlets heated and tossed on a plate. Over all a decent meal for a chain Italian restaurant.

Ate lunch there today. The food was good but the service was poor. Several large parties came in at once and we were quickly forgotten. Needless to say our small tip reflected our dissatisfaction.

I believe in giving restaurants a second and third opportunity and understand it’s been tough for everyone this past month. We consistently stop here for their MARGHERITA pizza which is always good however tonight it was very good. Unfortunately the service has always been to coin an expression MEH!!! Our waiter tonight was especially unnerving and having waited tables and to this day in a customer service industry, I can speak from experience. We waited close to 3 minutes to be approached by our waitress. Doesn’t seem like a long time in some situations however, you might agree this seemed like a long time. We ordered a Chianti and Chardonnay and after 5 more minutes no sign of our waitress. Keeping in mind it is Monday afternoon approximately 1:15pm and it has now been close to 8 minutes with no sign of our waitress when she abruptly passed our booth, walked behind the bar and began relocate various bottles of wine from one cooler(?) to another closer to the waitress station. After a short time as frustration continues to build, I walked to the bar and politely inquired, «Helen, can we enjoy our wine before the meal arrives?» to which it seemed to me she curtly stated«I’m just about to bring it over.» The glass of Chianti arrives with the announcement that«I have to go to the back to get a bottle of the Chardonnay.» Beyond belief our waitress makes a stop at a table on the way to speak with customers that had been there prior to our arrival. Finally, at least 3 minutes later(and I’m being generous here) she arrives to announce that she had looked everywhere and the choice I had made was not available. In the meantime our wine menu had been removed and I had to request it to make another choice. Not one to spend this much time on a review and by nature a very patient individual, I hope a manager cares enough to check these reviews because we would be hard pressed to go back again not to mention the fact that I observed ceiling tiles that had fallen onto the decorative wood above the bar area.

Although it’s a chain, I like Bertuccis. I came here this week to meet some old friends and the food tastes the exact same, as always. The bathroom was clean and the waiter was relatively attentive. A great chain if you’re looking for a quick meal and a great place to have conversation.

This food is awful! And The management is unprofessional. Although the young aged waiter was very nice and approachable I wouldn’t feed this food to my dog! Chicken pram that could have been made by a three year was awful has well. Do yourself a favor don’t waste your money on this overpriced Italian restaurant.

Bertucci’s is just alright. I have dined in many different locations and have never been the biggest fan of the menu. The choices are similar to other restaurants’ and they have some nicely described dishes, but in general they leave me saying«eh» with a shrug of my shoulders. The one thing I can say I am a big fan of is the bacon pesto menucci. I believe the word«menucci» has been taken out of the menu in the past year but it is one of the only really satisfying starters and meals there in general. Always comes out of the oven freshly melted and toasted together in a perfect combination of basil, mozzarella, bacon, and flatbread. As for the rolls; I got take-out in Swampscott the other day and received rolls with my order. I was going to save some for later but within an hour and a half they were practically hard as rocks. If I tried to bite into one, I would likely injure my mouth. And yes, I did keep them wrapped up! In general, I’m not in love with Bertucci’s but I don’t think it deserves less than four stars. I’ve been to this location about three times but have never had a memorable experience, nor a bad one, so that’s a good sign!

As someone who used to frequent the original Bertucci’s and watched the chain grow, I am sad to say that the once pleasant casual dining experience at the one in Swampscott MA is no more. I guess I am a glutton for punishment, and continue to infrequently return hoping that my previous deteriorating dining experiences were just sad anomalies. We ordered two pizzas(one cheese, one sausage and green peppers) along with an entrée of chicken picatta. The chicken picatta was not bad. Fairly well cooked, good flavor and consistency. Pasta was overcooked. The salad was pretty good. two pizzas I received were just inedible. The cheese pizza had no cheese, was like cardboard and I left most of it there. The sausage and green pepper pizza had little on it, over cooked, and just really bad. Are they trying to be trendy by making sure that the non-existent toppings interfere with the tasteless and dry crust? Not all Bertucci’s locations are like this one. The one in Beverly at least hints of the quality from the past. Service was timely and very pleasant. Probably why I didn’t just ask for my money back and walk out.

Cheap food for not so cheap prices. People somehow think that this is the dinner equivalent to Panera and it is not. Service is slow. And when I say slow I mean SLOW. Judging by the 20 screaming babies people see to think that this is a great place to bring your kids. Maybe it is. But I can tell you it is not the place to take a date.

Yes, I’ve definitely experienced better, and I expected more from this place, It has gotten worse, much worse when related to past experiences. Not horrible terrible, hence two stars and not one, but bad enough that I will not eat here in a while. So… what got worse, and what happened: Something changed about the rolls, they are just not the same, and, you guessed it, they’ve gotten worse. The sausage soup had so much salt, that I could not taste anything else, only sausage flavored salt. The fried mozzarella was still good. How, for the lunch specials: Ingredients in the salad are not even cut up, there were gigantic, thick round slices of red onion in the salad. Those are great on a burger, not in a salad. The sandwiches, which replaced the once delicious paninis, were a disappointment. they didn’t hold together, and the chicken was tough and lacked seasoning. The pizzas from that menu were okay, but they were burned on one side, and a little undercooked on the other, I get that they have a brick oven but shouldn’t heat be distributed rather than confined to one side?

If I have to eat at a chain restaurant, I’ll eat here. The pizza isn’t bad and the menu is huge.

Diego was our waiter and he was GREAT. Made a few jokes, always asking us what we need/want. He was great. I had the unlimited salad and soup and he made sure I had a refill ASAP he saw I was almost done with my first salad and he brought one out to be waiting for me on the table. He did this 4 more times while I stuffed my face with salad like I was a rabbit or something. The bread was great. And so were our drinks. We got a pitcher of the moscato sangria. My friend did the«create your own pizza» with peppers and onions and it was good. I would have liked to try other things on the menu, but i was full. so i will be back to try more :)

Not that I expected greatness from a chain«Italian» restaurant, but I did expect some level of accuracy. A co-worker and I decided to have lunch, nothing special, no amendments to the menu — just lunch. Our server, who appeared as though she hated her job, or had been awake for 3 days, placed the salad and bread on the table, stacked on the plates and walked away. Absolutely, it’s our jobs to put the place settings in front of us. Fine. The bill was all of $ 23 with tax, of which we split; she brought us 2 credit card transactions for $ 16.75 each — you do the math. After looking for the server for five minutes, I asked for the manager who assumed no accountability and offered no apology. After looking at my bank statement, it appears I was charged for both the«voided» transaction and the«corrected» transaction. Not only did the food leave a bad taste in my mouth, so did the service.

The restaurant is very pretty. The bread is pretty amazing and their wings are really good except spicy. I love their chicken margarita pizza because there is hardly any cheese. I think their pizza crust is hard but it’s pretty good otherwise.

An OK lunch spot, I would recommend you stick to the brick oven pizzas. Having said that I prefer the pizza at almost every other brick oven joint over the pizzas here. The other dishes are of passable quality nothing to write home about. Take a nice italian restaurant concept and homogenize it into a chain of mediocre locations and you have Bertucci’s.

Awful! This place can never get a pick up offer right. We have complained to the main office several times and got coupons but who wants to eat again when you know it won’t be what you ordered. And going there is just as bad… long wait and LOUD! This is definitely our last choice in the area

Say what you will about chain restaurants, but fresh rolls and great salads make this one of my favorite places to have a casual dinner once in a while. Since moving to Swampscott I’ve been to this restaurant at least a dozen times, sometimes more than once a week. I’m in love with their rolls and the Caesar salad. When my parents visited, I took them here for lunch and they(having no idea that it was a chain) thought it was a really nice local Italian place. Their chicken sandwich and the unlimited salad during lunch is a great deal. For dinner, I usually split the appetizer sampler with my bf and have their Caesar salad. Their Tuscan wings are really yummy, grilled and spicy with the aromas of rosemary and the citrusy bite from the lemon wedge they provide. The Caesar salad is delicious and probably not that healthy for you — with the shaved cheese, croutons and yummy dressing. BUT, I have it anyway because it’s so good. The service is always fast and friendly, and the food has been consistently tasty and a great value!

I came here last night for dinner and someone — we don’t know if it was our server or the kitchen staff — lost our order. In addition, after the manager came over to talk to us about it, I ended up not liking the lasagna cause it was a bit too crisp around the edges. So how could I possibly give this place 4 stars? Because the staff owned up to the slip up and corrected it by delivering our food to our table quickly, comping us a meal and sending us off with a trio of desserts. Now THAT is customer service!!!
