Excellent food. It is authentic Jamaican food. Spicy, tangy, sweet, all the flavors of real Caribbean foods. We had the escovich fish, and the jerk chicken, served with rice and beans, cabbage and fried plantains. The food is so well seasoned. The food tasted so delicious, and the portions were generous. The lady was very pleasant. Please keep up the good work. We enjoyed every bites.

I was really disappointed. I had the curry chicken and thought that it was rather bland and a bit on the salty side. It tasted like it was made to satisfy a palate not used to the spices and flavors of the Caribbean. The cabbage side dish was dried out and also not very flavorful. I will give it another try and order something different to see if my opinion changes. It is a local minority owned business that I’d like to support and see succeed.

Wow! Was voted on 2÷25÷16 New Times one of the top 8 Jamaican restaurants in Palm Beach/Broward. I have eaten here a few times since it opened and always thought their food was really good. When The Dutch Pot opened I started going there due to the convenience of drive thru. Boy what a mistake. As good as Dutch Pot is, Chelly’s is better. It’s worth getting our fat asses out of our cars and walking in, trust me. And, you will always get your plantains(see all the reviews for Dutch Pot where that’s usually forgotten). I usually get the jerk chicken or curry goat, but this recent visit I tried their stewed brown chicken. OMG! Heavenly!!!

Soo coming back from my trip to Jamaica, having the chance to experience the islands great culture, people and food, I knew it would be tough finding a restaurant here with similar vibes. Luckily thanks to Unilocal I was able to find Chellys, which I noticed already had some great reviews! As soon as I walked in, I received a warm welcome from Paulette and with a quick look around, I felt like someone literally brought a little piece of Jamaica back home to south Florida. Long story short I left with a HUGE portion of some delicious oxtail and even a small complementary portion of jerk chicken! Definitely a wonderful place to eat and very flavorful dishes for your taste buds to explore.

The people are very friendly, the atmosphere is quaint and lovely… And for out west this is a really quality Caribbean spot, especially w limited options. However, I thought compared to many Caribbean places that the food was tasty and filling but didn’t hit a home run. I left full but dissatisfied. When I eat carribean food I expect bold, strong and vivacious flavors. I would come here to eat again however it ain’t no Reggae Shack in Gainesville

The moment I saw«Jamaican jerk chicken» on the sign at Chelly’s I was sold! First, I’d like to say that Chelly and her mom are the most welcoming, unassuming, genuinely kind people I’ve met since I’ve moved to Florida from Manhattan. I go there once a week at least after I ride/train my horse, which is about 20 minutes away, and definitely when I go to the hair salon next door. Chelly’s mom does all the cooking and will«custom» prepare anything you want. I LOVE jerk sauce, so after they carefully cut up my jerk chicken breast, I smother it with this amazing homemade jerk sauce and I have it with a yummy coconut rice and sweet plantains… all for roughly $ 8. Lunch specials, which Chelly will extend way beyond lunch is $ 4.99. For the same portions. I also have to give a big thanks to my new hairdresser, Paula from Sophisto Salon. I’ve only recently moved to Ft Lauderdale from Manhattan. I needed a local hairdresser. I have been going to Bumble & Bumble uptown in the city for a decade or more – they are located two doors down from my building. I searched for a Bumble & Bumble sister salon here and found one adjacent to Chelly’s. I had just finished working/riding my horse, was hot and sweaty, and hungry, and had a wait at the salon. I asked the salon owner where I might eat and she suggested Chelly’s. I will be forever appreciative for that recommendation as I have not only found outstanding quality food but I’ve made lovely new friends.

Great food. Great service. Warm atmosphere. Tons of yummy food for a great price. When owner discovered that I was vegetarian, she served me a delicious off menu stew! Everyone in my party ordered something different and everyone loved their meals! I will be going back again Monday!

This is the best Jamaican food I’ve had ever. I’m new to the area & decided to check this place out after reading the reviews and I’m so glad I did. I had the jerk chicken with red beans & rice and ordered oxtails with pigeon peas & rice and it was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for authentic Jamaican food. You will not be disappointed!
