Love this place! We’ve been coming to Old Siam since they opened and consider it the best Thai restaurant in South Bay.

We recently stopped in for lunch after deciding to go eat at Madras. Why? I don’t even ask anymore. Anyways, upon walking in, everything looked exactly as I remembered. It’s a pretty small space, so not a monumental achievement that it all looked familiar. The menu is huge, but if you come for lunch, I don’t know how you don’t try to take advantage of their $ 7.95 lunch specials. Plenty of options too, but I was slower than normal on this day, and just randomly decided on the Pad Kee Mao with beef when the waitress returned a second time. The dish turned out to be pretty solid, but the whole time I was eating it, I was thinking I could’ve probably just whipped this up at home in a wok. They bring you out a small cup of complimentary soup to start the meal. I remember the last one I had here was atrocious, but this one was fine. My girl got the Pad See Ew with chicken and it looked like a sticky glob of a mess, but she said it was fine. It also came out onto our table within a minute and a half of her ordering it. Her portion also looked significantly larger than mine. But, then I realized she was just being polite inside, because she later confirmed in the car that the meal was pretty underwhelming. I’m not expecting some kind of gift from the heavens hidden inside an eight dollar lunch special and understand you get what you pay for. This place is solid enough for a quick lunch.

Ordered 22(pan noodles with beef) and 42(red curry, with chicken). Beef was horribly over cooked. Red curry, another huge disappointment, not much flavor. Squash was very odd tasting, over cooked, didnt got with curry. Overall, simply horrible. Asked for green chilies, lady gave me one for a 24 dollar bill asked for 2 for my 2 entrees, her response«I gave you big cut ones, I usually give small ones» uhhhh okay? Hell you could of just said we charge for second one, fair enough I’ll pay, instead she was sassy about it and basically told me to f-off! Lol

NOTE: This review is based solely on the delicious sticky rice with mango dessert. This is one of my favorite asian-themed desserts, and I try to order it at every Thai restaurant I’m near by. Note only did this place have the dessert item available in December(when most restaurants claim it’s «out of season») — but the mango was deliciously ripe(not overly mushy, and not too tart) and it came with both white rice and purple rice and just the right side amount of coconut cream for extra flavor. By far the best rendition of this dish I’ve had the pleasure of devouring.

Went here for lunch with a friend who comes here all the time! We were there around 12pm and our service was prompt and the food came out quickly too. I think it’s important to note the size of the portions: largeee! I though 2 – 3 people could share it. But that’s good! I like large portions. Better more than less! :D The taste of the food was okay. We tried Pad Thai, and the Fried Rice… I had asked them to make the Pad Thai a bit spicy but I don’t think they did because it was just sweet… and the fried rice seemed to lack salt. Also, re-fillable Thai tea! I think I would give this place another chance and this time, order my usual Pad Kee Mao.,

This review is for the curry. My bf had panang and I got the yellow curry. The yellow curry was very watered down, no spices, and undercooked potatoes and carrots. Total disappointment. My bf also agreed that his curry was watered down and had no flavor. To top of off, the white rice looked and tasted old. If you want curry, I would NOT recommend this place.

I come here for lunch all the time. The lunch specials are super affordable and they give you a good amount. Each dish is about $ 8 and comes with a small bowl of soup to start. I always get the Pad See Ew with chicken. It is not labeled spicy, but I always ask them to make it spicy. It is delicious and spiiiicy.

First of all it is really hard to get great 5 star food in Sunnyvale. If the reviews say that they are most likely lying. Had the Tom Kha coconut lemongrass soup, which was really good. Good: Menus with pics! Service was pretty fast, the place only had 5 tables of guests. I ordered the Massaman curry and a side of plain white rice. Good portions. Bad: Rice did not seem fresh, also I didn’t like that you had to pay for plain rice when ordering curry. I noticed that the curry seemed pretty watered down. It also visibly did not have enough spices and the potatoes were a little undercooked. I don’t think the cooks even tasted this batch or they don’t care. Portions were great, I just wish they didn’t skimp on my spices in the curry. All in all everything we had was very MEH, left a lot to be desired.

This place is delightful, a little local gem. The food is fresh and delicious and prices are very reasonable. The lunch plates are a good value — you can get a soup and entrée for under $ 6 bucks! It’s very fresh and flavorful at a fraction of the cost of some of the Thai restaurants along Castro in Mountain View. I love their noodles, fried rice and penang curry. The owners are so friendly — they grow many of the herbs fresh in their own garden. No MSG! It’s a real breath of fresh air on El Camino — home to so many chain restaurants.

I came back to this place for lunch early today as I had a craving for Thai food. I certainly was not disappointed and even gave a 5 star rating. Mainly because I took my own advice and came here before 2PM this time. I came at around 1PM, which is after the lunch crowd. Yet again I had the Chicken Pad Thai. Yes, it was very good. Generous portion. Was full after finishing it. This is the only Thai restaurant in the area that have their lunch combo menu for $ 7.95. Yes, you read it correctly. $ 7.95. An amazing deal and steal as other Thai places charge more for their lunch special. Yes, I will be returning to this place for both the value and the wonderful service.

Very good small Thai joint. Had the Pad Thai. They do not skimp on the portions. Ordered Pad Thai with chicken and was surprised that it had Tofu AND Chicken. Call me crazy but that was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. Very kind staff, attentive, and earn a healthy gratuity. The only ding I can give them is they are in the heart of the tech world, where lots of folks are going to be traveling in on expense accounts and they DONOT accept American Express. Maybe too picky but I didn’t take a star based on that.

I used to come here pretty often, and yes the food is pretty good, but the customer service is the worst! Our team went there for lunch and the waitress had literally told one of my coworkers not to sit a certain way and hit their knee… what? All of our dishes came out at different times, so the first person to get their dish had to wait about 5 – 10 minutes if they were to wait for everyone else. And during our time eating they kept rushing us asking us if we were done when clearly we were not… when we were trying to figure out the bill again they kept coming by every minute asking us to hurry up. I will never come back here again.

When it comes to Thai food, this place hits the spot. I normally get the Pineapple Fried Rice and my boyfriend gets the Chicken Pad Thai. Both are are pretty good. The Pineapple Fried Rice comes with a few fried shrimp, which is different from most pineapple fried rice(which has shrimp sauteed in the rice). I kind of like this though because it adds a different crunchy texture to your meal that you otherwise wouldn’t get. However, it could add a touch more salt to the meal and there are SOMANYCASHEWS. I’m not crazy about cashews. Overall though, very delicious meal. No complaints about the Pad Thai. =) Service is a bit slow and you sometimes have to wait to flag a waitress down, but it’s a small place so it’s not that bad.

This is my first time to try this restaurant with my friends. The place is not fancy but the taste is so good. I saw some people coming by themselves. The price is pretty reasonable and vegetarian friendly. I will definitely come back this place again!

I came back for dinner tonight!!! The food is sooo good!!! We always order too much for just 2 ppl!!! I ordered 5 dishes for just the two of us… Oh well… They really honest to god have such good authentic Thai! Everything in the menu is very tasty and good. We start off by ordering Thai iced tea and my fiancé always gets Singha. Then we order dumplings for appetizer! Which is succulent and meaty! I highly recommend their pad Thai and the pad seuw. And the green curry and gra pao and tom yum soup! All are good I devour each and every single dish! I wanted to get the papaya salad but my fiancé stopped me from over ordering! This place is just the best Thai food I’ve had in sunnyvale! I also love the owner she remembers us all the time!!! If your ever in the area I highly pls try this place! You won’t be disappointed :)
