Excited to try this eatery today but it was everything I had hoped for and less. Not a great first impression. The staff, pleasant. The problem, execution. After ordering the Nom burger and a side of fries it swiftly arrived as ordered, medium. All is well until I cut into it and I’m glad I did. After slicing it in half to inspect the quality of the meat and preparation I noticed a piece of bluish plastic in the patty. I quickly pointed this out to my server and I simply asked if she could please ask the chef WHERE this uninvited inclusion may have come from. I asked because it might have come from something UNCOOKED. She took it away and quickly came back with the same burger suggesting it probably just came from something ‘floating around in the air’ or came off my bamboo skewer. How is that in any way associated with a bamboo skewer? Not the answer I was looking for. I needed confirmation it wasn’t from raw meat etc. I ate the burger anyway and saved the piece of plastic(see photo). If I wake up tonight wrestling with the toilet I’ll know why and where the blame shall be placed. She then returned offering me a free beverage. This is not how to handle the situation. First and foremost make sure the plastic isn’t harmful! Offer me another burger instead of blowing it off. I refused the drink because I’m not into sugar and wasn’t drinking alcohol at that time of day. Crazy I know. She asked me to remind them, the restaurant that they owe me a free drink next time I’m in. Tacky… And I’d never do that, ever. Just comp the f@cking meal or drink or whatever it is you’re trying to make it up to me with. Goes a long way. Why are GMs and owners so afraid to do this? It makes everyone, me and the server feel better about the situation. The tip usually goes up in these cases. Beyond that train wreck, like I said, the server was very pleasant, but trained by someone with a lack of emphasis on customer service. Fries were great and the quality of the food seemed to be very good. A couple other points of interest the management might take into consideration is that the hostess station seemed unkept and dirty. Pencils and pens had fallen on the floor, dusty etc. Again, not a good first impression for first time customers or anyone for that matter. Also the lettuce was gritty assuming it wasn’t washed properly. Someone was washing the windows while I was waiting for my food but they continued to look filthy even after he had finished. Then he just stood around staring out and through the dirty windows he hadn’t cleaned. I worked in what looked to be a complete shi@hole of a burger joint as a kid. Once inside the place was spotless. When we were taking orders we were cleaning. I’m chalking this experience up to poor management. I know there’s a lot of money around here but please try and give a little bit of a shit. This hurts because Sunnyvale and the Southbay in general is desperate need for places who place the quality of food on high. Now I have a headache. See you later?

Tried this for the first time yesterday. The atmosphere was wonderful. Servers were welcoming. I can’t get over how friendly and attentive they all were. We came about 10 minutes before happy hour ended and got the tots & pinwheel fries half off!

Awesome addition to downtown Sunnyvale — they’re really hip-ping this part of town up! I’ve had this place on my bookmarks for awhile, I love me a fancy burger w/egg. I walked in with a friend around 8PM on a Thursday night and there was plenty of seating available. We got seated in right next to a TV where the Warriors were playing too :) I ordered the California burger, which comes with fresh avocado and a fried egg, and my friend ordered the original Nom burger, which comes with red aioli sauce and gruyère. I really liked how the waiter recommended us on how the burger should be cooked — medium rare, which is how I like them so I told him to go run with it. Afterall, waiters at the restaurant usually know best right?! Food came out decently fast, and though we were there for awhile just chitchatting, the service still remained excellent and our water was filled probably every 15 minutes, haha thanks waiterNom. It is a pretty expensive burger but its fine to treat yourself(or others) out once in awhile. Hopefully the next place you first think of is «NOM!» because that’s how you should feel when you receive your food and get your first bite at Nom Burger :)

Great addition to Downtown Sunnyvale! Nom Burger is delicious, carefully and perfectly designed and well worth a try. From the moment I walked in the door, the staff was helpful and friendly. The décor of the restaurant is spot on — modern and trendy yet warm and inviting. Food and drink — tater tot appetizer was bomb. Also, stellar selection of beer, not your run of the mill Stella, Sierra Nevada, Bud, etc. We shared the California Love Burger — the fried egg was such a yummy addition. The burger was great. Overall, I’ll definitely be back. Great food, service and atmosphere. Also, they have a fantastic Happy Hour! =)

This place is truly NOM. The bf and I were looking for a place to eat for our 5 year anniversary(don’t worry, the fancy dinner is coming up later in the week) and we stumbled upon this place(thanks to Unilocal!) Simple menu, about 15 items max on food. But the food was beyond simple. We started with the pulled pork taro nachos minus the pork since they ran out, but it was still so delicious and refreshing. Taro chips were light and the jalapeños were delish! We ordered the shrimp clubbin and the ez cape-ez burger alongside some sweet potato waffle fries. All of them were bomb dot com. Meat was cooked med-rare, very fresh and tender, and despite all the flavors that compose the burger; you can still taste each ingredient. The bun is house made and just so good. For dessert, we had their secret menu shake — captain crunch berries, as well as a tiramisu cheesecake. The shake was good but the chunks got in the way of sucking that goodness. Tiramisu was dense but not too sweet. At the end, the server gave us two pieces of truffles! All in all, the service was quick and felt like a fine dining experience, and the food is worth the price. Will definitely be going back!

Wow. Thaz a delicious burger. Not cheap, but I’d so much rather have an outstanding burger than a cheap, lackluster one. I realize paying for a good burger rather than a steak is sort of an oxymoron, but when I need a burger; I hate to be disappointed. My waiter recommended the Buta No Kakuni & checked to make sure I was blissfully happy with my choice. If she hadn’t been so spot on, I would have licked my plate clean when no one was looking. I could just about give up loco moco for the rest of my life for this burger.

«High quality.» That’s what my husband said of the food when we went here for dinner. We haven’t been able to come here since they first opened and after that meal, I really need work on coming back more often. It was a throughly delicious dinner. We got the following– 1. Chocolate milk shake. Soooo good! I destroyed that thing with a quickness. Strauss milk used. I could taste the quality. 2. Loaded tater tots. I love me my tater tots and am glad they’re creative with their potato choices for sides. Next time I wanna get their pinwheel with oxtail chili. 3. Ez Capr-ez: say it with me… burrata cheese! This with the arugula and tomatoes were all so fresh. I love burrata. Then you add that in a burger and it’s all win for me. 4. California Love: with my first bite into this my first thought was, «this is damn delicious!» The flavors were all on point. I hardly ever agree to eat any beef medium rare but I decided to go with the natural way they cook burgers here and had no complaints. It all tasted so good! That egg! This burger is a winner. Burger patty and the buns were all perfect. Add with prompt and courteous service this was a great dining experience. They also have a kick ass happy hour if you dine at the bar. Maybe next time. There will be a next time.

This place served me what was, by far, the best burger I have ever eaten in my life. And, believe me, I have eaten many burgers — including $ 20/lb Kobe beef burgers. The meat here is flavorful, and cooked perfectly to order. And service here is top notch. The restaurant was clean, well decorated, and the bus boys were very efficient. Our waiter was attentive and the evening was extremely pleasant. But the burger was just amazing. The only criticism I have is that I wish the hamburgers were larger! I could easily have eaten 2! This is my new, go to burger joint in Silicon Valley! My highest recommendation!

Okay so this place REALLY reminds me of Umami burger in Palo Alto. But I think it’s actually better. Why? Because the fries here are so much better! However, the condiments over at Umami are definitely better. So a bit of give and take. I really enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant. It was nice and cozy, but with a slap of modern sleek. The high ceilings coupled with nice furnitures really gives you a great comfort feel in the middle of downtown Sunnyvale. The burgers here are amaze-balls. Go for the burger w/the pork belly, I forgot what it was called, but it was beautiful. I highly recommend going here!

Hot off the press! Located downtown Sunnyvale — Prime Location! They have nice outdoor seating. Indoor has white leather booth seating, wonder how long the white will last ;) The restaurant is decorated very hip and upscale. The menu is very simple, mainly different types of burgers and a few side dishes. Their bread is homemade, which is smart, they purposely made the bread size slightly smaller but fuller, so it seems like a big hamburger. The bun is soft and tasty, the hamburger is juicy. I did regret getting the EZCAPR-EZ, which is loaded with Burrata cheese, balsamic marinated tomatoes. These ingredients are so strong that I didn’t truly get the hamburger taste. Will have to come again and just try the plain burger. I do have one complaint — they don’t offer a kids menu. The waiter said that they can make me a kids size hamburger and I asked for the price, he said«SAME». Ok, what is the point then? Downtown Sunnyvale is definitely getting hip, however if you are serving lunch on a Sunday afternoon, I feel that is family oriented and should offer a kids menu, not everyone is willing to spend $ 12 — $ 14 on a hamburger that the kids won’t finish, and it doesn’t come with fries. So, their hamburger is $ 12 — $ 14 and it doesn’t come with fries, which is definitely on the high end of prices.

Delicious california love burger! The brioche bun is soft and delicious on its own, i could just eat the bun with butter! The meat patty is well seasoned and tasty. There wasn’t a whole lot of unique ingredients, but their burgers are well made with just the right toppings. Size of burger is also just enough to satisfy you, but not leave you bloated. The tots are good, deep fried and extra crispy, a tad too oily and bland; but nothing special because they don’t taste homemade. I will be back to try more of their offerings, a great addition to Downtown Sunnyvale.

So glad that they have such a fun, young place to eat and hang out at now. I run past this place regularly(and side note, yes, everytime I run by I think, «damn I should really stop exercising and just eat a big sloppy burger instead) and I always seem to want to come here on a Monday(they’re closed :(sadly on Mondays). My friends wanted to go and I smelt that they might have some wine there(or hoped) so I agreed. This place is really great. Our server was amazing and so personable. Not pushy at all and very accommodating. I got a California Love burger which included avo and a nice fried egg. The bun was nice and brown, toasty. We saw them making buns and at a quick glance, it looked like they were making tons of char siu baos. I loved my burger, so tasty and delicious. I had a glass of sauvignon blanc which was delicious but I REALLY needed it so there’s that to consider. We also ordered some fries and tater tots; both really crispy and hot. I LOVEDIT. Far too often its soggy or not fried enough. We paid our check and then the owner(I think?) came by and offered some brioche bread pudding to try. Guess they’re thinking of putting it on their menu. Well I hope they do because it was DELICIOUS. A little crispy on the top. To die for. I was really full and I put myself over with the bread pudding but it is and was well worth the tummy ache. I’ll be back with or without the jogging. A great addition to the downtown Sunnyvale scene!

Oh nom burger, I really wanted to like you… from your housemade buns to your promise of waffle cut sweet potato fries, I thought we could have a great relationship. But your burger was only so so and rather bland(I tried the California Love) even with the fried egg and the sweet potato fries were soggy and needed more salt. A lot more salt. One pro: A rather great beer selection and you were able to sample the beer before purchasing a glass. The ambience seemed a little faux elegant for a burger restaurant that didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Service was great, I wish the food was better as a good burger restaurant would be a great addition to downtown Sunnyvale.

Nom Burger was pretty tasty! Located in the downtown of Sunnyvale, very contemporary design and upscale for a burger joint. Tried the pulled pork taro nachos and the Holay Guacamolay burger as well as the Nom Burger. The nachos was quite a treat. Although it needed more meat, the flavors were definitely there! I loved the substitution of the taro chips as the nachos — definitely a different twist and it went well with the plate! These burgers… they look small but don’t underestimate! It’s seriously filling. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, I loved my Guacamoly burger. I liked the surprises of little corn, gives it a sweet texture. Prices are a bit high but you don’t call Sunnyvale as one of the most expensive South Bay cities for nothing — as expected! I’d return only if in the area.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place overall, but they need to make some adjustments before it is a 5 star experience. This is a much fancier place than I had anticipated when we paid our first visit. It is a sit down experience with a full waitstaff. We went when they had just recently opened, so some of the bumps in the experience were likely a result of how new they are. We got all of the food(including the milkshake) in a weird order. One order at a time and then the milkshake after. It took a long time for food to come out. The milkshake was good from an ingredients standpoint, but poorly made. They also put it in a horrible glass that made it difficult to drink. The Nom Burger with an egg was delicious. That saved this place. I thought it was too small when I spotted it from far away but I was stuffed by the end of it. We also got pinwheel fries and they were so good. I will definitely be back when I’m in the mood for a gourmet burger, but this place is a tad too expensive for me to be a regular. I’ll be interested to see if they launch a happy hour in the future.

Was just here for lunch(a Friday at 12:30) and was surprised that there was absolutely no wait(which was AWESOMEEE!). My friend and I ordered the loaded tots to split as an app. They were crispy and delicious, exactly what every tater tot dreams of becoming when they’re young spuds. We got the California Love burger and the NOM burger and split them because we both wanted to try them. California Love: predictably difficult to eat :) everything was sliding all over the place and had to eat the last parts with a fork. Super delicious, came out a perfect medium rare. The only thing I would change would be to add more avocado! NOM Burger: the namesake is delicious as well. Those caramelized onions are to DIE for! The cook on the burgers is absolutely amazing, I’ve had other burgers at places ordered«medium-rare» but NOM truly nailed it! Waitstaff was extremely attentive and kept filling water before I even realized my glass was empty! Will definitely return!

I am a bit torn as i am writing this review. We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Located right off California St/2 doors down from Starbucks. Nice new establishment. Very open modern space. Only a handful of patrons eating. The menu is pretty simple to read. Now for the nitty gritty. I wasnt sure if they offered vegetarian options and a quick search of the menu left me wanting. The hostess told me after i asked that they have a vegetarian patty to substitute for the beef. Cool! I was set. Ordered the Nom burger $ 12 with the vegetarian patty. Now in my mind, i am thinking its an actual vegee patty made up of multiple ingredients. What came out was a Portobello mushroom. Which is fine because i do love mushroom but they charged me an extra $ 2 on top of the $ 12! $ 14 for a portobello burger??? Grassfed beef costs WAY more! It should be a $ 2 discount! Umami burger has the same portobello burger for $ 10. None of the burgers come with sides. Sides are additional so you can easily spend $ 20 per person. The kid ordered the traditional Nom burger. She said she liked it. She enjoyed the in house baked brioche bun. Patty was generous. No pickles. sad cause we like pickles with our burger. Loaded tator tots were ok. I like mine crispier. Siracha sauce could use way more kick. Got 2 nom burgers togo for the 2 who couldnt join us. $ 14 each cause they wanted bacon. Total was $ 67 without tip. Only drank ice water. 3 burgers. 1 portobello burger 1 loaded tator tots. With tip almost $ 80. Holy hell… thats steep. Not good for vegetarians unless u wanna get ripped off. Good for carnivores willing to throw down $ 20 each

YAASSS. Not usually a huge fan of burgers, but this place did not disappoint! I went for the first time before they opened, and then one more time on the day of their grand opening. I tried so many dishes on their menu, and I can easily say that everything I have tried there was unique and delicious. EDIT: I didn’t know I tried so much of the menu until after I wrote out the whole review… but to be fair, a lot of it was shared!!! The ones I put asterisks on are my favorites. LET’S STARTWITHTHEAPPETIZERS: -**Pulled Pork Taro Nachos**: 5⁄5. What makes this appetizer is not the unique taro chips(they don’t actually have too much of a taste, but it makes the nachos seem healthier since it’s a root haha), but the pickled jalapenos. The combination of creamy guac, tomatoes, soft pulled pork, sour cream, and a pickled jalapeño on a taro chip is OUTOFTHISWORLD. The pickled jalapeño is fresh, tangy, and crunchy, making them the perfect topping. –Pinwheel fries: 5⁄5 Super hot, crispy, salted just enough, and twisted to perfection. BURGERS: All burgers are made medium rare YUM. –California Love: 5⁄5 The combination of egg and garlic jack cheese make this burger . I loved the creaminess from the yolk and avocado, and the saltiness from the cheese -**Holay Guacamolay**: 5⁄5 Probably my favorite. I love guac and corn, so putting these two on top of the burger along with habanero jack cheese was just perfection. The beef patty tasted buttery and so, so juicy. I got mine on a salad because I don’t really like buns, and it was just SO good. –Nom Burger: 4⁄5 The most«typical» burger on their menu. Tasted like a gourmet In n Out burger. **E-z Capr-ez**: 5⁄5 The balsamic marinated heirloom tomatoes were delicious. The balsamic was sweet and tangy, which complemented the creamy Burrata cheese. The arugula was a nice fresh taste to balance out the burger. DESSERTS: -**Churros and Cream**: 5⁄5 Crispy, hot, and sweet knots of churros dipped in marscapone cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. What better way to end a superb meal than with freshly made churros? –Brioche Bread Pudding: 5⁄5 They know how to do their desserts here… the bread and pudding combination was so good that I ate it even though I had a stomach ache from eating too much. –Chocolate on Chocolate: 5⁄5 MMMMMMmmmmMMMM I love chocolate frosting. Couldn’t stop eating it and pretty much peeled the frosting off and ate it plain.

Attending the Launch Party right now. If the bites they’re now offering is any indication of the future, it’s going to be bright! The burger offerings were tasty with a slight Asian feel. It wasn’t overpowering definitely boosted the flavor profile. The fries(sweet potato, tater, regular, and mini wedge) were all good! The pulled pork, both versions, were good as well. Décor wise, it’s hip and cool with good music playing on. I’m looking forward to their grand opening this Friday at 11am! Nom Burger, it’s about time but worth the wait so far!
