This place should be called Ming Not So Tasty! We only went here b/c Saigon dim sum’s wait was way too long. The food here came warm, undercooked. Some of the dim sum had a cold core still… On the plus side, they seated us quickly.

This is the worst F**ing restaurant ever! Rude waiters! We sat down 5 mins at our table after reading our menu and waited there patiently for a waiter to come and write up our order. Another couple had sat down next to our table mins after we had sat down and the waiter went direct to them. Maybe because she is a damn racist. Because they were Chinese and we weren’t??? She took off after taking the next tables order. Finally after the waiter ignoring us and me finally getting her attention and trying to flag her down. At that point We were thinking about walking out. She finally came and reluctantly took our order. We ordered dim sum and some other plates. After chowing down on my first siu mai I had noticed it was extra soft and mushy but at that point I was so hungry and didn’t even bother to check. After the second serving of the siu mai dumpling I bite into half of it and then notice this! RAW dumplings!!! I told waiter about it and she said we won’t charge you for it. You damn right you won’t charge me for that!!! We ordered quite a bit of food and left everything untouched and not eaten. I talked to manger about it and told him about it. Four eye geek could care less about making things right for me or at least comping the meal we hardly touched. He said if you get sick go to the Dr. WTF? Really??? I was about to whip his a s s right on the spot. Beware and do not come here!!! Oh and by the way Happy Father’s Day to me! RUINED!

SUPERDISAPPOINTINGANDHORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE. That is the short version. We used to love coming here when it first opened because the Peking duck was really well done — crispy skin, you get some meat, etc. However, it has gone downhill the last few times we have dined in(2x) and gotten take out(3x). Today, the customer service from the waitstaff was horribly rude. They refused to acknowledge that their pork belly(which used to be a superb dish) was off-tasting. It tasted like the pork had gone bad, and from someone who cooks almost daily, it was very obvious. Instead, they brushed aside our comments and told us that’s how it has always tasted(WHICHISNOTTRUE since we ordered this 4 times before) They tried to put the blame on us. As Cantonese folks know, we know what pork belly should taste like since we get it for Chinese New Year and random dinners all the time. They also tried to pawn off our comment to each other, pointing and saying«She’s the manager» and then«she» would say«I am not the manager» and thus wasting our time during our early Father’s day meal. Furthermore, they demanded MORE tip than what we thought was reasonable for their horrible customer service. Let’s be clear: the customer service was just putting dishes on the table. No one served us soup — they just dropped the big bowl of soup and left. No one asked us if we ever needed anything, no water refills, rice refills or tea refills. I can go get the dishes myself if they let me. Lastly, we got some Combo dinner with 8+ dishes and 3 of them looked sad and were floating in watery soup. One dish in particular was very fishy/stanky and they tried to overpower it with white pepper. DONOTDINEHERE unless you are just getting the Peking duck to go.

Okay food but the service needs work especially if you order take out. You order then you pick up 10 minutes after the designated time and you end up waiting another 10 minutes because the staff is so busy taking care of customers that eat in. If this wasn’t my only convenient location I would never order from there.

Don’t read this review if you like Chinese food! Seriously, please! I don’t understand why people don’t get the clay pot rice. You order it and it takes at least 30min when it’s not crowded. They do an amazing job of it. Each pot of rice is freshly cook. Slightly burnt, which is the best part!!! I always pick the Chinese sausages and the preserved meat. Reminisce of my previous sojourn in Hong Kong. But even fresh meats will bring out the flavors of the clay pot rice. Where I come from, people travel distances to eat this dish and this place does one heck of Job of this! I hope the secret never gets out! The porridge is also done so well. You have no idea how easy it is to screw this up. Again, century egg and shredded pork is for the acquired pallet. My favorite but you can’t go wrong here. Pick other meats like sliced fish Yes, it’s a typical Chinese restaurant. Tables are sticky! Service is a little ‘bah’! But that’s where you get the best flavored and authentic ‘immigrant’ food. No fuss. No fanfare, just good rock solid neighborhood Asian food. This is my go to place after a rough day or a long trip. I hope it never picks up in popularity. Then I’ll only have to wait 30min. ;))).

A little greasy. The service is good, so many options on the menu, hard to make a choice. But their dim sum is not as good as the one next door. Didn’t taste fresh. I am not a big fan on congee tried a simple one, pretty plain to me.

It’s pretty decent. I like the porridge in koi Palace better though. But will definitely check out this place again

Ming Tasty came highly recommended by a family friend because of the large variety of choices — no kidding! The menu features everything from dim sum to traditional dishes to Americanized dishes. Coming for lunch, we ordered a few bowls of porridge, a couple dishes of dim sum, and also tried their fried rice/noodle dishes. Most of what we ordered was decent to pretty good. I definitely recommend the chicken and abalone porridge, as real abalone was used(not the pretty pieces, but good enough)…however, I would not recommend the seafood porridge. It featured a few medium sized shrimps and imitation crab meat(«seafood»), The dim sum was rather unremarkable in my opinion — can be skipped entirely. Our Chinese donut wrapped in rice noodle was overdone. The Chinese donut basically shattered from being over fried. Our shrimp dumpling was standard; skin wasn’t too thick, but the shrimp was a little bland in my opinion. And lastly, our runny yolk buns weren’t even remotely runny. But where the dim sum fell short, I thought the pan-fried house noodle and Macau fried rice definitely picked up the slack. The pan-fried house noodles seemed to feature way more gravy than I was used to… but it turned out to be just right. As for the Macau fried rice, it was basically a yang chow fried rice but with shredded peking duck tossed in — a totally DELICIOUS addition! Overall, prices were very reasonable and the wait wasn’t too long either. It is a pretty quick and loud operation though, not exactly an upscale Chinese restaurant despite its trendy interior.

Been several times as its both near work and home. Open late and you can order by phone. Certainly above average and the congee is actually quite good but not everything on their large menu is great.

First off, it’s a Chinese place, so don’t expect good service. Keeping that in mind, YUM. This place was so good. The food was all cooked really well, especially the mignon and the frog legs! I was really impressed with how well everything was cooked. And you’ve got to try the HK Waffles! If you’ve been to Hong Kong, you know how good this tasty treat is. What’s even better is that I felt the waffle here was even better than the classic street waffle from the originating country itself! Seriously, It was so crispy and puffy and warm and the flavor and texture were just on point. Other than that, it is relatively pricier than most Chinese places, but on par with the average American restaurants. But still, the food’s good.

They have great chef at the back, love their porridge. When you feel lazy to chew rice or noodle, porridge is the best choice. Their portion is very enough, love it when they are not busy tho, so recommend coming here for late lunch or late dinner. I never really had authentic Cantonese food, but it feels like its the closest around the bay area.

I would give 3.5 stars but I guess I’ll round up because I didn’t find anything particularly wrong. The place is pretty clean and the décor is trendy. Not one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, but they do have a wide selection of dim sum food. They do have a huge parking lot so parking is never an issue. Service isn’t amazing here but it gets the job done. The usual food we get: Salted fish & chicken fried rice is my favorite. I like that its not too salty nor too oily here. Rice is soft and flavorful. Garlic pea sprouts are delicious here! The vegetables taste fresh and tender. It isn’t too salty so rice isn’t needed. Tofu, mushrooms, and bok choi is healthy and vegetarian friendly. Minimal oil in this one and cooked perfectly. It is a little pricier than typical Chinese restaurants I’ve been to. But the food is pretty decent and not that oily. I would come back here for brunch to get some dim sum!

My favorite Hongkong/cantonese café in the area. Affordable and delicious fare. I love their congee and their«daddy’s fried rice». This place is usually crowded on weekend evenings, but empty on weekday nights. Great place for late dinner after a long day at work.

This review is long overdue. The short summary is: The quality has GREATLY declined since they first opened and there are too many great Chinese places out there to waste your time at Ming Tasty. Save your time and tummy and go elsewhere. Ming Tasty is in a pretty convenient location for us so we’ve given it way, way to many chances. In general, the food is usually average but but way overpriced. Lately, though, we can’t even say that. Here is an example of our last take-out order, which cost us over $ 70. We were having another family over for dinner and because of unforeseen circumstances had to order takeout instead of cook. We ordered combination fried rice, which had little to no flavor. We don’t mind this too much as we use it to pair with other dishes… it was expected. The worst dish was the Orange Chicken, which was completely FRIEDBATTER with sauce. We literally only found 3 actual pieces of chicken in the whole order. Unreal. My signature dish, Fish Filet in Black Bean Sauce, but this time and last, it was literally almost completely peppers and onions. Not acceptable. The Beef and Veggie Noodle was incredibly bland. The corn chicken soup was also incredibly bland and mostly broth. We also ordered $ 9 worth of BBQ Pork, that ended up being dry and a very small portion. Needless to say, despite its convenient location, we will never eat there again. Nor will our friends, who were experiencing it for the 1st time. What a disappointment, and slight embarrassment. Crazy thing was, I was joking before about going to Panda Express for takeout but in the end, we all wished we had. Panda would have been half the cost and better tasting, even though it’s the type of cookie cutter corporate food that we like to avoid. After many failed attempts, we would not recommend this place to anyone. Won’t see you there.

chicken rice mushroom hotpot is ok. the idea is greens contrasted with the soft texture of dried shitake mushrooms and chicken. Be careful of the meat quality at these low end Chinese restaurants; not all the meat they use is of USDA quality. If it doesn’t look right don’t eat it. They can import meat from China and Vietnam which is way below what you get in a supermarket and still legal for consumption. Best items are the $ 4.75 egg waffle and any veggie dish. Waffle kinda pricey. Nobody pays $ 5 for a $ 1.00 waffle. good late night hours.

This is your typical Cantonese café. Came here on a Sunday morning planning on eating dim sum at Saigon, but the line was way too long so we came to Ming Tasty instead. We ordered the fish ball rice noodle soup, seafood congee, pig’s feet noodle, and chicken feet dim sum. Everything was mediocre at best. The fish ball rice noodle soup was incredibly bland. The seafood congee was probably the best dish we ordered. There wasn’t much seafood in the congee besides imitation crab meat, which was kind of disappointing. The pig’s feet noodle was also bland. The yellow noodles on the side were also very runny. The chicken feet was the worst! Chicken feet is my favorite dish at dim sum, and this one was just inedible. It was dried and looked stale. There are so many better Cantonese-style café restaurants.

Overall pretty good. My mom suggested Ming Tasty after coming for lunch one day with her co-workers and wanted to take us. The restaurant was jam-packed and even though it was past 2pm. We only had to wait about 10 mins before they sat us down though. Service: Quick, Assertive, Efficient. Wouldn’t say anyone was friendly but no one was mean. Good with me. I like efficiency. Eats: Dried Fish & Peanuts Congee — Good flavor, but way too much ginger for me to truly enjoy it. Green Onion Pancake(Seen in the menu as Salt Pancake) — Interesting, tasty but not traditional. Seemed a bit dry but had good flavor and was crisp/flaky. Zhaliang or Youtiao wrapped in rice noodle(seen in menu as Doughnut Fritters Rice Noodle) This was my favorite dish by far. The rice noodle was super fresh and makes me think they make their rice noodles in house. Seafood Chow Fun — Good flavor, cooked perfectly. Rice noodles again seemed very fresh and seem to be house made. ShaoMai & HaGao we both fresh and well made. And best of all came out hot or else my mom would have sent it back and then would have declared we never ever come back no matter how good the other food was. Phew. Would be back forsure.

Not too bad. This place opens fairly late for a chinese restaurant. Ordered the short ribs, salt and pepper tofu, and shui Mai. Short ribs were super chewy! Served with mushroom and green beans stir fried which were super tasty! Salt and pepper were interesting. I’ve never had circular shaped tofu before. The frying method was different too. Possibly Pan fried versus deep fried? Also, no coating to the tofu. Shui Mai was just ehh, nothing too special. Possibly their congee is what they’re known for. It seemed everyone there was ordering a bowl for their table! Possibly next time I’ll try that!

The moment I stepped into Ming Tasty, the feeling of being in Hong Kong rushed over me. It smelled like HK, looked like HK. The purple furniture was super intense, I thought it was funny how bright everything was. I actually had chairs that looked like their purple chairs… except mine were orange. My family and I ordered tong choy, mapo tofu, Chow style fried rice, oyster hot pot, and sweet/sour spareribs. The tong choy came out first and was perfectly salted. All our foods came out well before our rice though, even when we rushed it so we could have rice to go with our foods. The rice we ordered had taro and cilantro in it which was interesting. I don’t like cilantro but it wasn’t that bad — the taro was strangely good though. Everything we ordered was fresh and steaming as well. Nothing else really exciting or special. Okay place to get dinner. A lot of people had ordered and were enjoying the gai dan zai /eggettes /Chinese waffles, so maybe that’s something to try next time.

The only Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in Sunnyvale during my short trip to California and we ordered the Beef Short Ribs Eggplant w/Pork Slice Casserole Tofu and Fishballs Everything tasted great though it might be too flavorful for some. In comparing this to NY’s Chinatown, this is similar to XO Kitchen style. Much to my surprise the short ribs were marinated in Sa Cha sauce which gave it a refreshing peppery taste. The Tofu and Fishballs was tasteless but the soy sauce(with some hot oil) made it perfect and of course the Eggplant Casserole was very oily but the excess salt hindered the Eggplant’s natural sweetness. My only complaint is the rice tasted like it could have been recooked from the day before but overall excellent and very true to Cantonese cuisine.
