I was searching for an Indian restaurant with a dinner buffet during the week so I gave it a try. I got there right when they opened for dinner at 5pm. The food was good. It’s not the best I’ve ever had but it’s pretty good. The price is $ 12 for the dinner buffet. I took my son back with me the next night and he liked it too. They don’t have a lot of business, only a few other people there both nights so the food sits in the steam table. I will return but I’ll go right when they open because the food is hotter. All I eat is the chicken and rice, the nan is good too. They have a jalapeño chicken that is good, Makini chicken is good too.

I really look forward to Indian Buffets about once a year(I always over do it) so when I saw Curry Bhavan open near my job I knew I would eventually have to try it. I finally took the plunge during lunch on a Wednesday around 12:30 and the place was spacious but also quite empty with only 3 – 4 other tables full. I took a quick glance at all the offerings, grabbed two places and filled em’ up. Basmati rice, Palek Paneer, Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Daal, and of course a little bowl of raita to cool it all down in case it was spicy. The buffet offerings were fairly limited, a handful of veggie curries, meat curries, all fairly standard choices. Their chutney/salad bar was pretty weak though, none of my usual favorites(mango, tamarind). I do like that they make the naan bread to order, which is a definite plus. You can be sure it’ll be hot and fresh. The man working seemed to be the only guy around and held pretty much all of the job titles available in a place like this; cook, cashier, server… I commend him for keeping up with everything but paying the bill took a little bit longer because we had to wait for him to finish making someone elses naan. Ended up paying just about $ 26 for two buffets and 2 mango lassi. More than I’d like to pay at a buffet of this caliber.

It’s more like a 3.35, but I gotta round down here. The lunch buffet has your typical Indian fare, plus the naan is made to-order. Which is clutch. And of course I added a Mango Lassi to my order – it just works so well with the spice. Flooded my plate with Rice, Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Chili Chicken, Lentils, & Garbanzos… and a side of Raita to splash everywhere. There were a couple questionable looking Chutneys, but none of the Mango persuasion. Then I finished my meal with a serving of Gulab Jamoon that was lacking in freshness. Oh well. The food was pretty solid and had a building heat to it, but nothing was too outstanding. Then again, nothing was too nasty, so no complaints here. I will say the single employee there is perhaps the hardest working dude in the biz. The man was our host, server, busser, chef, and cashier. And I bet he would’ve even done my taxes for me had I asked. Props to that.

Loved their dinner buffet. 1st time here, they have quite few food options comparing to other Indian buffets. I was the only one there eating, that’s fine more food for me. Will definitely stop here again next time I’m in the area.

Went for dinner buffet on a tuesday… had the place to ourselves… Food was definitely on the good side… Some items like the flavored rice was little stale… But the Garlic Naan and the curries to go with it — both veg kurma & butter chicken was too good. Mango lassi is a must. Loved it. Definitely recommend the place.

Disclaimer: I only tried the chaat, so cannot comment on the buffet or other food. The dahi puri was the worst I’ve ever had. Stale, bad tasting yogurt. Puris were also stale and soggy. Maybe they assume that’s ok because after adding everything it becomes stale anyway? Ironically, I asked for take out — and they gave me each thing in a separate container so that it would(theoretically) not get soggy! One star for the good intentions!

This place was NOT busy on Friday afternoon at 6. Some say that is a bad sign, I say I don’t follow the crowd. I like a nice quiet meal without a bunch of noise. And that is what I had here. Spices were a little hot for most American’s taste, but my uncle is from Mumbai. Great food, not a bad price for dinner buffet with lamb.

This new place, at the end of strip mall, is pretty good. As a newbie to Indian food, I appreciate when things are well labeled, and this place had some signs up, but could do a little better. It wasn’t too busy today, a weekday lunch, just a few other tables full, so it was super quick. The butter chicken and the curry was good. The nan was served table side by the waiter multiple times during our meal, which was a highlight, it was warm and fresh.

I had seen Curry Bhavan’s advertisement for months in a local magazine and jumped at the chance to check it out when was in the area. Maybe it’s this location, I don’t know. I walked in about one hour before closing, and it was dead. I mean only the chef was there sitting on the phone. I did not follow my own rule of if not packed of patrons, leave. I stayed for the lunch buffet. Firstly I was the only person in there and when the chef finally got off of his phone call. It was dead silence. Never in my life have I been to a restaurant and heard myself chew and swallow. Much less an Indian restaurant. Seriously no flat screen of their regional programs from Dish TV. No Indian music piped into the background. Dead silence. It was a uncomfortable experience. As for the food, it all was good with the same overtone. A lot of options on the buffet which for lunch comes to about $ 10 and some change. In the future, if do decide to go back would probably to a busier location.

Possibly the worst Indian food I have tried in Bay Area. I d avoid it. I got the dinner buffet. Rice was stale. So was the dal. The other side dishes were salty or had stale veggies. They also took forever to get us the naan. All this when I went in hungry. Damn!

Pretty yummy place! Came here with my mom and had the restaurant to ourselves. They say they have a lunch rush which is pretty good to know that they get more customers throughout the day. The food was good. Best part was having the fresh bread as we sat down, along with friendly and sincere customer service. You dont get that from many places.

I have been to this place twice now and it reminds me strongly of the homestyle indian restaurants that I used to frequent in Berkeley when I was a student. It is very informal, don’t expect anything fancy, but it is clean and the food is exactly to my taste. Every table gets a a freshly made nan and the buffet choices are plentiful. The food is very good, the prices are very I expensive, what more can you ask. English is definitely a second language here. Try it. You’ll like it.

I was going to another restaurant beside at first, but after seeing the picture i thought i want something heavy/salty, so Indian food it is! after having a big meal, i dont see why there is no one there! i went in around 1pm, i was the only customer, even though its kinda wired but their lamb curry and veg curry are really good! the owner(?) Raj served me a fresh naan and then offer me a free(but the bill is 10+, so maybe he charged it however) mango lassi, both them good. but still the lamb and veg curry are better.

They reuse the soiled paper placemats. Never seen that before. The food is just ok. Lunch buffet was $ 11, which was high for what it is.

Came in to order togo currys… tols me that they had an offer of Buy 2 curries and you get third one free… 9 bucks for each curry … to my surprise they asked me to choose it from the buffet currys and not from A La Carte… Bummer… 18 bucks … Still tried it… … Taste wise —- Greasy, bland and stale. Not coming again.

Came in to try the buffet. Everything was excellent! Clean restaurant, friendly staff. Although cheap, the quality of the food is great. I can’t get enough of the Palak Paneer and the freshly baked garlic naan :) I would definitely go back.

Bought Unilocal deal, we went to have lunch and the manager doesn’t even know that the owner put lunch deal on Unilocal. So he call the owner back and forth and made us sign the print out coupon and wrote my husband’s phone number. Food was OK nothing special and very limited choice on the buffet menu.

Having lived in Singapore and growing up eating a lot of Indian Cuisine, Curry Bhavan proved to be one of the most authentic Indian restaurants I’ve eaten at in California I don’t mean to sound pretentious, but I just really enjoyed my experience! From the butter chicken to the paneer, everything was delicious. I found this place through Unilocal and saw that they had a Groupon going, so I figured I might as well take my housemates and boyfriend there with me for lunch. I have no gripe nor groan about the food being served there and the people who work there make sure you have a great meal. I wasn’t expecting dessert, but they gave us ICECREAM! I forgot what flavor, but it was AMAZING! *TIP* DON’T FORGETTOASKFORTHECURRYNAAN! It was delicious and really complimented the meal very well. I haven’t found the time to go back, but I’m definitely coming back, no doubt.

I was craving Indian food and this place just opened so I figured I would try a new place for lunch. Let me say that this is definitely a good place to come to, espcially for lunch. They have a regular a la carte menu but I went for the buffet. At $ 10 for lunch, this is such a good deal! They have a fairly sizable selection of buffet items, many of which are curries. A lot of the items were excellent, with great different flavors and textures that I could taste clearly. Even the raita seemed unusally good, with a bright tangy taste that really seemed to stand out. Some of my stand out favorites from the buffet was a curry with paneer and peas, and the taste of the peas and the curry really seemed to combine well. There was also a mild mixed vegetable curry in light sauce. The taste was great and the vegetables not overcooked. And one definite item to have is the lamb curry, with tender chunks of lamb, just excellent. There were a couple of minor flaws as some of the meat in the butter chicken seemed a bit overcooked and some of the chicken tikka I had seemed a bit too salty. Serveice felt a bit minimal but still prompt. In the end this is definitely a place worth returning to multiple times and deserving of more business and support from potential customers.
