Gabby is the man. I had been paying 3x of what he charges in the city. Was hesitant at first and took a shot with gabby who is Nelsons son. Kids got talent. Very happy with my cut and my hair is not easy to cut. Found myself a new barber as long as he’s cutting hair.

My barber was on vacation so I decided to swing by this place. I remember seeing Nelson at G&G years ago. So I went in to try them out. He referred Loui to me. I told him I wanted a fade.
Loui did an okay job cutting my hair. I was explaining to him how I wanted it and it looked like he was bothered. He did not leave it how I wanted it. Attitude stinks. Personality is not fit to deal with customers. This is just my opinion of him, for all I know he could be the nicest guy on earth, but wasn’t my experience with him.

This is a great place to get your haircut! Rosie, one of the three barbers at Nelson’s, did an excellent job with my hair and put time and effort into all the details. What do I mean by this? I mean that she shaved around the ears, elicited feedback from me during the entire «cut,» and added a precision and nuance into my haircut that not all barbers provide. For $ 14, this is definitely some serious bang for buck.
Best of all was how friendly everyone is here. Nelson introduced himself and the other barbers on my way out, and we talked for a bit before I took off. That type of warmth is what a good business is all about!

They don’t wash hair here, but i had a latina lady cut my hair. While her English is pretty limited, she understood what i wanted and cut my hair well. She shaved the back of my neck and side burns, and cleaned those areas up with an alcohol swab.
The cut was $ 14, so i just gave her $ 20 to keep the change. Very good VALUE at this place.

I’m hesitant to write his review because if you all start going to Nelson to get your haircut I’ll have to wait longer on line. I’m very picky with barbers and went to Nelson for the first time in December 2014 because my previous barber kept butchering my hair. I was really nervous at first but I have to say he’s one of the best barbers I’ve ever met — he asks you what you want and gets the job done plain and simple. he’s really really good with kids. He’s able to give my two and half year old son a haircut which is (quite honestly) next to impossible. He has a nice approach and my son looks great when he’s done.
Before I found his barber shop, we went to a few places which are strictly for kids, and it always ended badly because my son panics with the sounds and strangers around him. It was torture for the both of us.
Apart from this (which is a huge deal), is the customer service. It’s pretty good. They don’t make you wait and they’re very nice and super cool.

My husband has been a regular here for 10 years and he loves and trusts Nelson so much that now our little has became his regular. Such a friendly gentleman and his place is very clean and a block away from the subway. Prices are very reasonable. We have already recommended a couple of our friends to him and they have now become a regular!
If you want a friendly and nice hair cut, stop by and check Nelson out!

Nelson is great! Have been getting haircuts with him for over 3 years-​fantastic barber and good friend as well! Prices are reasonable too. If your new to the neighborhood and need a cut visit this place!
