Clean, up beat, Resturant. I have been here many times and almost always start with the grilled, sliced Squid and either the the chicken or shrimp skewer. I usually order from the special rolls which are all great. On occasion I have the tempura or one of their soups. All good! The special rolls are well above average. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and access by the 7 train makes it convenient for those traveling by that mode. I drive and find the parking under the 7 my best bet yet ample street paring can typically be found. So all and all a solid 4 Chopsticks review. Definitely worth the trip.

Having lived at Sunnyside for almost 2 years, I have to say Ariyoshi is one of the best here. Definitely try the Sunnyside roll. Pork Katsu is huge and delicious.

My friend who is from Japan arranged a lovely dinner last night in celebration of her parents visit and her recent engagement. She, her fiancée and parents did the ordering since they are from Japan. We didn’t order the typical sushi combo or teriyaki boxes, but instead had great chicken skewers, broiled squid(to die for), dumplings, fried chicken(delish!) and a huge sushi boat. The beer was great. Our server was so nice and conversed easily in Japanese with our hosts. Definitely give this place a try.

One star for my friends noodles which was the only thing that didn’t suck at this place. I had three rolls of sushi(lobster salad, spider and spicy tuna) and they were all terrible. Until this place I didn’t know that sushi could be this bad. And to top it all off the little that I ate made me sick. My friends noodles were good, or at least he ate them all so he seemed to like it. Never again, Avoid this place.

Pitiful portions. I had ordered a couple of rolls from here a few of months ago and they were pretty meh(fish to rice ratio was terrible and the rolls were so tiny!). So mad at myself for even giving this place another try. I ordered the salmon sashimi app($ 10.50) for pick-up and it was so small I almost walked back into the restaurant to confront them about it. 5 tiny squares of fish(not even the typical rectangular sashimi slices). Not to mention the fish quality was mediocre at best… fishy tasting. I’ve had higher quality fish and double the portion for the same price at multiple sushi places in Manhattan. Super bummed, what a waste of $$$. Also, nobody greets you at the front of the restaurant, making the entrance super awkward. You enter and stand around waiting, and then have to trounce back through to the back of the restaurant to find an employee. Definitely won’t make the same mistake a third time.

I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid(30 years ago!) and they have some of the best entrees. Chicken teriyaki is delicious and I love the pickled cabbage and seasoned bean sprouts they come with — sometimes I ask for more! The sushi is good and fresh and the boat comes with a lot of food. I love the kijidon udon combinations where you can get a little bit of chicken and rice and a little soup and noodles — great for the kids! The place is neat and clean and the staff is friendly!

I have been eat here more then once but so far i always do delivery. Last night me and my girl were close by the area so we decided to stop by and have some dinner. The place is quiet comfortable and service was great. The waiter staff are nice and patient even we were eat at last minute before they closing. I ordered pork katsu and my girl order a set menu tempura udon and chicken teriyaki over rice. We were amazed by generosity on the pork katsu it was alot and we loved it. My girl love her food too, the noodle is great and the broth is delicious. We are coming back for sure.

Second time here and would definitely have to agree that the first time was better. I came here on a Saturday evening, but it wasn’t busy at ALL!(Literally 4 groups including us seated) The waiter first off directs is to sit in a corner by the window far away from everyone else and it felt like we had to TRY to get their attention for literally everything. Especially even the check, literally took them about 40 minutes to give us the check when asked… Frustration. BUT on the other hand, when we did get in contact with the waiters, they were actually super nice. In fact, we had like 3 waiters(maybe they got confused on which table to help and what not.) The food was pretty decent, had their ramen the last time and quite liked it. I would also recommend the dumplings for appetizers. This time I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki, which was pretty good! I would recommend this place for the food, but the as far as the service… they can do better.

Love this place! Came here a couple of times. Tonight was exceptional!!! Here is all the food our table ordered: Sushi regular with California roll Sushi regular with Tuna roll Spicy salmon with avocado roll Tuna roll Stir fry plain udon noodles Regular coke Diet coke Seltzer with lemon This all came up to a total of $ 67.00 between 3 people. The tofu soup that comes with the sushi regular is very fresh and delicious! Big chunks of tofu in it! The place is very spacious and clean. Our waiter and waitress were very nice! We didn’t have room for dessert. My daughters udon noodles were comfort food delicious. Nice, warm, savory and gooey is how I would describe them. This is an excellent place to go to dinner. The sushi is always fresh here. You can park at the muni meter across the street if you can’t find parking on the side streets.

So, this place is hit or miss. When I first moved to the neighborhood I was ecstatic that this place existed. After tasting gross Bronx and Long Island sushi, this place was amazing. I would have put money on it being the BEST sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. Now, countless visits later(like once a week), I see why it receives lower ratings. Some days you’ll come in here and get the most amazing, fresh sushi for the low. Other times, if you venture off into the menu, you get shitty small rolls that don’t taste very fresh. Ordering is also hit or miss: I’ve ordered and got sit down quality, and then the other day, I substituted for brown rice and got this mushy, nasty roll and gross edamame As far as the service, most of their waiters are extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. Out of all the times I’ve been here, only once did I have a waiter who sucked, and it takes a lot for me to complain about customer service because I know how crappy it is to be on the other end of it. He was not attentive at all. In fact, midway through our meal we had two other waiters. He never came back to our table – not even to hand us the check – even though he kept looking in our direction and walking around aimlessly. It was weird. Anyway, the great part is that this sushi IS really good, and it sucks that sometimes it’s not, but 85% of the time it is. They have the best deals. I usually get the Sushi Udon combo; it comes with salad. I usually hate ginger dressing, but their dressing is unlike any I’ve ever tasted. It tastes fresh and so good. Like I noted earlier, I come here about once a week because I love the sushi and the prices. I have brought my father here, and would definitely recommend it to other people.

My cravings for this place occurs like once every other week and they never fail to satisfy me. I always get their Kijidon-Udon combo which consists of Salad, chicken teriyaki over rice, udon soup, and ice cream all for about 14 $. It is well worth the price. I sometimes also get the almond tofu w/vanilla ice cream when I have the sugary desires. Their staff is very welcoming and attentive i’d say that this is the best japanese eatery in the area, price/food quality ratio-wise. They also have new sake and their drinks are not that bad either.

I’ve had better Japanese food before, but this place offers a wide array of dishes, ranging around ramen, donburi, sushi, udon, soba, etc. However, that’s also what hurts them a bit in taste. Because there’s so much variety, they can’t really specialize on making a select category absolutely delicious. The staff is really friendly and helpful if you want recommendations. I ordered the katsudon here and it was alright. The rice didn’t taste quite like Japanese rice, but more like the Chinese rice I eat at home. The katsu was a bit on a dry side. I’ve definitely had better when it comes to katsudon. If you want to eat Japanese cuisine, want some variety, and don’t want to go far, you can check this place out. There are better places however.

2.5 Stars. This is a reasonable priced Japanese restaurant for people who want to eat Japanese food in relaxing mood. Some of workers are Japanese and others are Asian who doesn’t speak Japanese. I think this place is good for family. There are Izakaya menu, sushi, bento-box, noodles. Izakaya menu is Japanese tapas style dishes. Some menu are under $ 5. Some food is good, but not great. Some are okay. Don’t expect their ramen is good. I tried my boyfriend’s Tonkotsu ramen, but it was just okay. It didn’t taste like real tonkotsu soup. If you want to eat good ramen, please go to ramen specialized restaurant. Bento-box is full of different kind of foods. That was good. I had grilled mackerel, that was good, too. Recently, I ordered Yaki-udon, which means fired udon noodle with vegetables and meat or seafood. Their Yaki-udon was totally different from what I expected. In my hometown area’s Yaki-udon is an fried and sweet and seasoned with sweet and savory sauce. I heard some family use soy sauce to flavor. Either way, most sauce is absorbed in udon noodle. However, their Yaki-udon was soupy. The volume of the portion was good and it had a lot of vegetable, but I was disappointed by what I got. I have been believed this is a real Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese and maybe it actually is, but that Yaki-udon was a bummer and started to have a doubt little bit. I will still go back there for cheap eat, but I will never order Yaki-udon. I never tried sushi there, but I will never order here. I rather want to eat in other sushi places even I pay much more.

Great food overall but not a fan of their credit card policy. I’ve been going here on and off for 6 months and noticed their credit card minimum go from $ 10… To $ 15… And now $ 20 minimum. Very shady

Ariyoshi is the hot sushi spot of Sunnyside, as TJ Sushi is to Woodside. Whether the latter or the former will win in a face-off for best sushi, that’s for you to decide and me to know. I came here with a friend on a Friday night and though I initially wanted sushi, I was sold in after seeing the ramen noodles as advertised in the storefront – I really craved ramen at this point. After a good 20 minutes of sitting down and circling around the menu, and questioning whether my wants/needs are logical between multiple sushi rolls, donburi, udon noodles(it’s a girl thing, trust me), I finally went with the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Lobster Salad Roll. I was highly anticipating on the Lobster Salad Roll to be as exquisite as TJ Sushi’s over-the-top presentation. Instead, I got 6 mere minimal, tiny, plain(I don’t expect pizzazz and a million different exotic sauces drizzled like art, but come on, it’s a «Special Roll” – at least make it more presentable if it’s your specialty) rolls that hardly had any lobster meat in its mixture, and was not delightful in taste. For $ 6, it was definitely a rip-off. Needless to say, it was disappointing and I don’t think I will order any of their sushi rolls again because I can only expect small, effortless portions. I was ready to give up and expect the worst for my ramen, but the Tonkotsu Ramen did restore the sanctity and any hope I had left in this restaurant. The broth was just excellent and it was light but flavorful, and the pork was so good! After the whole deal with the sushi roll, I was surprised that the portions of the noodles were huge. We were about to go for dessert but was the told the portions are very small – you will only get one scoop of ice cream for $ 4.50 – no thanks. Service was average; it was more like rushing us to order on a slow night, but they were quite honest about the food and portions. I’m disappointed in my experience after hearing all these great things from friends.
