All I’m going to say is drunken. Grandma. pie. Delicious. Solid vodka sauce on that and their chicken vodka pies. Great place to go in and grab a slice, whether a simple plain slice or something more filling with lots of toppings. I haven’t tried anything else yet, but the pizza is a win. Only downside of it(and anywhere else in Summit) is the parking, but can always find a spot a block up away from the businesses and walk back

I had a slice of the buffalo chicken and the vodka. My boyfriend had the regular grandma and the godfather. The toppings tasted great and the bottom of the pizza was crisp but not burnt. I thought my slices were great, but my boyfriend had me try his godfather slice and it was amazing. We also tried the calamari. It was a large portion, crispy, tasted fresh, and came with a big bowl of marinara sauce which tasted homemade. The only con was they should’ve drained the calamari better. There was a pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl so the the bottom pieces were too greasy to eat. I would recommend this place and I’ll definitely come back.

We order from here or dine in a few times a month, and have never had a bad experience! The food is awesome and everyone is super friendly! The buff chic pizza is to DIE for and the chicken bacon ranch & drunken grandma are great too. Their pastas are delish too — ordered the tortellini with their homemade tomato & basil sauce(seriously SO good) and was super impressed! Would definitely recommend!

We get pizza from the Trot almost every week, and the selection of specialty slices is almost always great. We really love the Drunken Grandma, but also quiet enjoy others like the Chicken Bacon Ranch. We have only ordered other menu items from here a few times, and they were fine. But if you are going here, it really should be for the pizza.

Pizza strictly average. Service terrible. I had an infant in the car, and requested to place an order in advance as there was no parking and I was going to park right in front of the store and jump in. Despite explaining the situation, the guy flatly refused saying«it only takes a second». Naturally, it took a good 10 minutes for a couple slices of plain cheese, and I returned to a crying baby. The guy acted like a jerk at the end too. Very rude.

Came by Village due to the awesome reviews, and my wife and I had been wanting to try it since we got our home in town. I’ve always been a big Zappia’s/Vita guy, but Village’s reviews warranted a visit. I got a slice of Buffalo and a slice of plain. A classic, plain slice is always a benchmark for a pizza spot, and Village’s was just okay. The sauce was a bit bland, and the flavor didn’t hop off like at the other two places in town. The buffalo slice was decent, but it had tough competition with Zappia’s. In this case, and in my personal opinion, Zappia’s wins out here: spicier, more wet(I hate dry buffalo slices), and more flavorful than Village’s offering. I’d definitely go Pizza Vita and Zappia’s over Village for quality of pizza. However, Village had some really unique offerings in their pies which I’ll definitely come back to try again.

My favorite pizza in Summit. Service is good. This is a great place to buy pizza by the slice or pie. Favorites pizzas — Grandma — Buffalo chicken(has an interesting blue cheese dressing) — Original A.K.A. Plain A.K.A. Cheese — Drunken grandma They also have a decent chicken Caesar salad. There is a liquor store very close by. They don’t deliver, or have a huge amount of seating.

The pizza here is all great, though sadly the best one(the Kohl’s pizza) is only sparingly available as they do not always have fresh pesto. If you want to try something different, I highly recommend the Greek Salad pizza. It’s cold, and like the name implies it is literally a Greek salad dumped on top of a cooked pizza dough. Everything that we’ve had has been superb, including several sandwiches and various sides. The staff is always friendly and fast despite the huge lines that can build up during the weekend rush. Even during those busy times it is never more than 25 minutes between calling and the pizza being ready for pickup. We always order takeout, as the restaurant is pretty small and generally jam-packed with people. It’s decorated sparingly and you can definitely tell that you are in an old-school pizza parlor. If you’re with the kids and okay with a high-energy spot, this could be great for you, but I wouldn’t recommend it for date night! They do have some small metal tables and chairs outside that would be nice in the summer.

Great local pizza spot. Very good seasonal dishes. Their dinner dishes are awesome. Owner is friendly & always willing to help out. This place gets packed but only because the food is so damn good!

The pizza here is quite decent. I always ask for a nice crisp bottom on my slices and they consistently deliver. The quality of the sauce and the cheese is excellent. Flavor is on par as far as decent pizza goes. I would definitely recommend giving them a try. It’s nice to see that they offer some gluten-free options as well.

What a great place to stumble into. Popped in last night for a «small» tortellini with vodka sauce that I couldn’t even finish. Tonight I swing by to try the pizza. I’ve always been a fan of chicken francese pizza and haven’t found a good one in years. Their specialty pie was awesome — and friendly service with a smile.

I haven’t gotten around to trying anything else on the menu besides the specialty slices, and I don’t think I ever will. It is the best buffalo chicken slice I’ve ever had!

Sam has been talking this place up for as long as I have known him. He’s always told me that they are known for their specialty pizzas, his favorite being the buffalo chicken pizza. I wouldn’t normally order this slice, but because he praised it so much I had to order it. The pizza came out of the oven almost immediately and they brought it to our table. I covered the slice with parm and a little granulated garlic. The first bite out of the slice was awesome! I loved the cheese and whatever amazing white sauce that was drizzled all over it. Very good! The chicken was perfectly breaded. The only thing off was that the chicken meat itself tasted a little old, like leftover refrigerated chicken. Besides that though, I really enjoyed the experience!

We’ve had pizza in many places in this area, including Montclair, Maplewood, South Orange, Summit, Chatham, and Madison — and Village Trattoria is the best by a mile. The pizza doesn’t taste like it came off a conveyor belt or like you bought it at an amusement park or the community pool. The cheese is good and well-charred(not like a blanket), and the sauce is thick and slightly sweet. In particular, I love the eggplant parmigiana pizza, but it’s all good. We’ve had some specialties too, like eggplant rollatini and lasagna(both great), but it’s really about the pizza for me. There is no ambiance or classy service to speak of(there’s a bit more in South Orange and Maplewood locations). They’re open until 10, but best not to go after 9:30, when the staff is cleaning up and having loud conversations. Bottom line, if you value good pizza and you’re close to Maplewood, Summit, or South Orange, go to Trattoria and stick with it. Nothing else will satisfy, unless you’re in elementary school and just don’t know the difference.

Had the Farmers Pizza and the Arugula Salad Pizza. My spouse had the Fried Calamari Pizza — who doesn’t really like pizza but really liked this place. What I really liked about this place was that the food was very lite, nice portions, and full of fresh flavors. Yums!

In a sea of unexplainable bad pizza, The Village Trattoria has some of the most consistently good pizza around. The service is always friendly and accommodating for take out and when we dine in the small dining area we have always had great service. We typically order plain pies, but I have tried the chicken parmigiana pizza and it was done right where the toppings are not flopping out onto one’s trousers.

Ate here last night with the wife. We both had the chicken trattoria special. My Caesar salad that proceeded the entrée was mediocre. But the entrée was excellent. Seared chicken pieces over a bed of penne pasta with sun dried tomatoes, artichokes and mushrooms. Very tasty! Service was very good. Price with tip about $ 42.00. The place was very busy which is testimony to this restaurant, as several other eateries surrounding them were pretty empty.

Great place to come for speciality slices. One of the best buffalo chicken slices i’ve ever had! And i love the vodka sauce pizza, i’m slowly working my way through all of their special pies. There isn’t a lot of room inside to sit and there isnt really waiter service. Now i just come here for take out or a quick bite to eat.

My optician has his office across the street from this restaurant. He knows that I like pizza, so he suggested I give it a try. It’s narrow dining room and tight seating gave me pause but as I walked in past the display cases full of food, I forged on. Two plain slices and a cola — my standard order — arrived quickly. Wow! The crust was crispy, sauce full of flavor and just the right amount of fresh cheese — an outstanding slice of pizza. I have revisited several times and my experience has been the same. This small shop makes outstanding pizza! My wife heard me rave about the pizza and she has joined me a few times and she has tried their more ambitious slices. She likes their chicken slices and their different salad types too. All in all, our several visits have resulted in great lunch experiences. They show quite a few interesting italian dishes on their chalk board menu and, some day, I may explore a few if I can drag myself away from the pizza. In New Jersey, pizza places almost outnumber gas stations so if you don’t make a good product, you disappear. It takes real skill to stand out from the crowd — the village trattoria stands out! Friendly staff. Wonderful pizza. Fair prices. Give it a try.
