Classic NJ Italian at its finest. Super friendly staff and consistently excellent pizza and pasta. Pasta is sometimes overcooked, so ask for it al dente if that’s your preference. Salad dressing is the best house Italian I’ve ever had. No reservations, but only gets really busy after 7 on Fri and Sat nights.

I love this place, but they could make it so much better if they stopped overcooking the pasta. Just subtract 2 minutes from the cooking time and it would be perfect. A lot of the time, it’s mushy. Other than that, the food is great and I like the relaxed, old school feel of the place and the friendly owners.

Best pizza in the areas. They make the typical Italian dishes, very well. They are very willing to modify dishes to accommodate your preferences /allergies. Daily specials are always very good. They have even made previously offered daily specials upon request — just describe it to Joe and they will make it. Randazzo’s does a huge amount of takeout business — both pizza and full meals. In almost twenty years, we have never been disappointed in the tastiness and freshness of a meal. They even have gluten free pasta — and make it perfectly(not overcooked and mushy) . If you plan to eat in, come early as the tables do fill quickly and the waitstaff does not rush you out. Over the years, the turn over in waitstaff has been minimal. The owner is always there — and his wife is there most of the time.

I’ve lived in town for 25 years. The demographics have changed, not for the better. The one mainstay is the consistency of Joe Randazzo’s pizza. The same baker, Theo has been turning them out night after night — every pie is a winner. The entrée items are consistently good. Get the picture yet? The food is consistently good. Caveat: if you’re going for dinner, get there as early as you can. It tends to get crowded. BYOB

Food is excellent. I’ve had veal piccata, chicken balsamico and loved both. The rest of the party enjoyed other various dishes as well. Good portion size and reasonable prices too. Only drawback is that if you are a party of 4 and don’t get one of the two circular booths, it’s a little cramped. Actually, the atmosphere isn’t much(but the food more than makes up for it).

Not impressed. We grew up in this area, have traveled extensively, and know good Italian food. We only ate here once so can’t comment on the whole menu. However, what we had was unimpressive. Arrived at 6 pm on Sunday after long drive and just wanted a quiet booth. The restaurant was only about 1⁄3 full but our waiter refused to seat us in a corner booth because they could«put more people in those if we get busy later.» Really? On a rainy Sunday night. Should have left right then. So we sat in a small booth right in the middle of the room. My husband ordered clams oregano, which was 6 small, cherry stone clams, tough, mostly bread, and no oregano flavor. His broiled flounder in white wine sauce-6 small pieces that tasted like the bagged frozen fish you buy in grocery stores. It was tough-not much flavor and a very small portion. Came with a side dish of ziti and tomato sauce. I had the spinach ravioli-again 6 pieces in a standard spaghetti sauce. My portion was bigger-6 round ravioli, but a little over cooked. The sauce was pretty flavorless with hardly any spices. I ended up giving my husband some of my dinner-he was still hungry. Dinners came with small salads-ok, just average, but fresh. A dish of sliced French bread and butter was also served. My husband asked if they had an oil/herb dipping sauce. Nope-but they brought a cruet of olive oil and vinegar in case we wanted to pour it over the bread! $ 43 later and we were thinking we should have gone somewhere else. Others seem to like this place but if you’ve grown up with great Italian food, or eaten in really good Italian restaurants, you will probably be disappointed.

This is my go-to restaurant for Italian food, that I unfortunately recently discovered a few months back as its located on a side street around the corner from the famous(Silver) Summit Diner. All dinners come with bread, butter, and salad with a unique and delicious homemade house dressing. The Chicken Rossini is outstanding, with the Balsamic chicken also excellent. Make sure to ask for extra bread to soak up the Rossini or Balsamic sauce, gravy, and house salad dressings *-)! They come with a side order of pasta, with the gravy A grade. The owner and family are hands on and the food and atmosphere reflect that. If you want ambiance and high bills go somewhere else, if you want great food without pretensions in a friendly atmosphere, go to Randazzo’s.

We took out a pasta dish as well as a pizza. The gnocchi was soggy and lacked a true taste. It could be because it was in a to go dish, but it wasn’t in the carry out container very long. The pizza however, was delicious. We ordered a regular large pie. The crust was intermediately thick, not too thin, not too thick, just right. It was very tasty. The sauce had a sweet taste to it with a generous amount of cheese. Definitely will try their other pies after this experience. 3 stars for the pasta dish, but we will try a different pasta dish next time.

Went there with my family. Was very welcoming from the beginning. Once we sat down, our very sarcastic and witty waiter came right over and started telling jokes. They were great, he was great. Then we ordered and literally not even 10 minutes later the appetizers came. Very quick service. Had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were pretty good, not great, not terrible. The side salads were delicious. We got a big pizza for the table which also came within 15 minutes. The chicken parm was amazing, the best item on the menu. The pasta was good, too. But, the pizza was the best. The perfect mix of cheese and sauce and the crust cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend Randazzo’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza for a great night out on the town and a great Italian dinner.

Went for lunch. 12:15, the heart of Summit, and NO one was there. Ordered a Margherita pie. BAD! It looked, and tasted, like cardboard. Luckily they refunded our money. Went around the corner to Village Trattoria. PACKED with people. Bought a couple of slices and loved it. Randazzo. Bad food and the interior is gloomy and old. Sad.

Stumbled in here last night and happy we did. We just had pizza but it was quite good. The sauce tasted homemade too. The service was very good and the décor dated — but in a good way. Very clean place too. We will be back!

Been a customer at Randazzo’s for the past 10 years and eat here at least at least a few times a month. Food has always been great and great a value. Never once had a bad experience with service. This is not a counter service restaurant so not sure what another reviewer is complaining about.

I was appalled by how very rude and disrespectful the employees at Randazzo’s were. After bringing my children and wife, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone if they are looking for even a halfway decent restaurant. Food was sub par and the experience was one of the worst I’ve had in a wonderful area such as Summit. I will not be returning to Randazzo’s and hope no one else has to have this same horrible experience.

Food/service was fine but really nothing was memorable and I wouldn’t return. We got the white pizza which tasted good but I’ve definitely had better white pizza. I also got the gnocchi with marinara which was fine although the sauce was pretty boring. It was completely empty at 8 pm on a Thurs.

This place was horrible. We were looked at like we were crazy because we did not want to dine in we just wanted to eat our full peacefully without a waiter. They made us feel very uncomfortable & the food was nothing to tell about. As leaving a heard a women with her family state«how rude.» I will never be back here. They also keep implying that they do not sell slices when we never asked if they did. They definitely need better customer service

First time I had their pizza, I was very impressed. I tried their plain and pepperoni pie. The owner is very polite and the service is great too. So far I had their pizza four times and I was never disappointed.

Love Randazzo! Moved to Jersey in 1998, went to Randazzos almost weekly for 9 years, then moved back to CA. But every time I go back to Summit, NJ I go to this place. It’s like the Cheers of small Italian restaurants. You see friends down there every Friday and Saturday nights and it’s loud but fun. Joe Randazzo is the nicest guy, almost always there, stopping by your table to say hello to customers. He’s owned the place 31 years. Mario in the back is a great chef. The food is simple, very tasty, and plentiful. That dressing on the salad is to die for. God, I wish I had a Randazzos in San Diego. I really miss this place. I urge you try it out. Have the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, the Cavatelli with Broccoli, or the linguine with oil and garlic. Just outstanding. Don’t go there for tabletops with white linens or big wine lists. Not the place. Go there with your family, have a nice meal, laugh with friends, bring your own wine, and have fun. That’s what it’s all about.

Randazzo’s! What a family favorite. We used to go every week when I was growing up and it’s still the same Joe Randazzo who runs it and is great. A lot of people get take out as well as big family groups get together and sit in the large booths on the side. They make their own salad dressing in their basement which is to die for and their bread is very good. It’s just a nice family restaurant with good Italian food for whatever mood you’re in — ravioli, pizza, great penne al vodka. Good portions and just a good sort of hidden place in Summit.
