WOW. What a spot… Towne Deli does sandwiches right. They’re not a traditional, Italian-style deli, but rather, very Americanized. They have some GREAT sandwiches, and the ingredients are fresh. I was surprised at how quickly we got served, paid, and food in belly. It was great. They also have monstrous cookies that hit the spot for an after lunch treat. I got the chicken cutlet, mozzerella, salami, and marinara sub(forgot the name), and it was spot-on.

Got sandwiches before heading to a Rutgers football game, and was very happy with my food! Turkey club was delicious, and my friends Italian sub that I tried was great too. I liked the way they packed them to go on a plate with plastic wrap because it made it so easy to keep leftovers. Only thing is they took a while to make their sandwiches, but that’s not an issue as long as you aren’t in a rush.

A group of us got a number of subs from here the other day while we watched some football. I did not go here but I’m told it’s right by the New Providence train station. Not sure about prices, either. I tried a number of different subs — Italian, turkey and roast beef. In my opinion, the best sandwich was the roast beef. It was actually nice and rare; just the way I like it. The Italian was 2nd best but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the turkey sub. My only knock against this place is that they’re a little light on the meat and the sandwiches were on the«breadier» side. I’d get sandwiches from here again but I’d probably stick with the roast beef. It’s a solid enough spot.

The place is near the train station(New Providence) and is kind of expensive but has good food. The food is fresh and there are so many options. I often have the 54 or a tuna sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and deli mustard. They are famous for their half and half which is served in a container(it’s really good). They also make in large quantities if that’s what you’re looking for and make other things like potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and rice pudding.

Been going here for years. Great breakfast sandwiches. Love their Italian subs, turkey subs, and sloppy joes.

Good sammies. The sloppy joes are the best! And the half and half is a must. The chicken parm and meatball parm are pretty good as well.

Are you kidding me? This place is overpriced… I ordered a $ 8 steak and cheese and felt robbed… Never again…

SO glad someone else commented on how rude the guys are at this place. Decent food but REALLY obnoxious wanna-be frat boys working there. Not worth it!

I would’t make the trip for a regular sub, but they have a really great chicken parmigiana sub. It’s worth it. Really hungry for lunch on a weekend? The Towne Deli would be on the top of my list(along with Tito’s). This place is also somewhat well known for it’s iced tea or lemonade or half/half in a giant inexpensive tub. I’ve never been quite thirsty enough.

Solid food, reasonably priced, good/friendly staff, and they have liquor. Great local deli that should be supported by its neighbors!

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and most of the time the sandwiches are good. Years ago they used to do a «fancy» pre– made sandwich on pizza bread with ham and other ingredients that I loved but that disappeared. The place has changed and I suspect been sold. There is much less in the store than there used to be. it’s still good but it’s kind of dull now.

As a girl who was raised on classic delicatessens found scattered throughout most New Jersey suburban towns, I have to say that Towne Deli is easily my favorite of them all. Their sandwiches are top notch, always. Fresh cut meat and bread consistently take the sandwiches to the next level, as do the special combinations of sandwiches Towne Deli offers, hot and cold. My go-to sandwich is a sloppy Joe, known to New Jersians and other deli-mongers as a your choice(s) of meat and cheese layered with Russian dressing and homemade coleslaw, stacked up with three pieces of thinly sliced, fresh rye bread. I always get turkey and roast beef, although other combinations I’ve had are nearly as impeccable. They have an area-favorite drink called the«half-and-half,» which is, as many now know due to the success of Arizona Ice Tea’s Arnold Palmer product, half iced tea and half lemonade. Towne Deli has been making their own rendition of this concoction for years and years, and it’s unlike any other version you’ve had. They serve it in a giant plastic container usually dedicated to potato salad or coleslaw, the lid of the contained stabbed with a knife for the straw. I buy this giant container of heaven’s nectar and it’s gone by the end of the 15 minute drive to my house. Towne Deli has a huge selection of other soft drinks to choose from, brand name things of course, as well as a large wine selection. Some delicious hot dishes include the homemade mac and cheese(really amazing) and the pulled pork(also really amazing). Anything you get here is a home run. Thanks, Towne Deli.

Towne Deli shocked all of my senses. The first thing I noticed when I strolled in was that there is a James Ihedigbo jersey hanging on the wall. As the most random New York Jets player of all time, this struck me as absolutely hilarious. After remarking on it, one of the employees said he comes in all the time! Very cool. The sandwiches are apparently top notch, but I went for their home made mac & cheese and their bbq pulled pork. First of all, WIISHDUHSUFH it was GREAT!!! I ate half of the pulled pork which I got on a club, and saved the rest for the next day and I was so excited to revisit the masterpiece. Truly amazing. The mac was also fantastic! Really home made style, a nice mozzarella crisp lining the top with a whiter cheddar base. It was classic and great. Every employee here is a frat boy that looks exactly the same wearing the same LAX shorts and basic tshirt, so don’t feel sorry if you forgot who was serving you and ordered from the wrong person. This place is legend, will be going back soon!!!

My mother in law lives in a condo right around the corner from Towne Deli. It’s a great spot to pick up a great submarine sanwich and a cold beer. It’s got a nice old school feel.

I live 30 minutes away from here and still go when I can. They make a delicious«joe.» That’s a sandwich with thinly sliced triple decker rye bread with your meat, cheese, cole slaw, and Russian salad dressing. Also they sell liquors. It’s one stop shopping!

Stop. Don’t order. Turn around. Get in your car and drive to the Millburn Deli. Both places have great sandwiches, prices are pretty much a wash, but you can order at Towne, drive to Millburn, order, get served and drive back to Summit and the petulant, hey-I’m-from-Summit LAX’er behind the counter will still be screwing up your order. Just saying.

I have been missing out on this place for a few years. I had no idea it existed since it’s out of the way(but located next to a NJT train stop). When you walk inside, don’t expect anything fancy. The liquor store portion is small and a bunch of fridge’s with cold beer. The middle has a small wine selection. The deli side is bigger but there are no tables. The staff is friendly and quick. Specials are clearly marked on the board behind the counter. They have a hot foods small area behind a glass casing. I ordered the«pioneer» which was chicken cutlet, pepperoni, mozzarella and sauce(I opted for no sauce). There really is no half sub here. You get the whole loaf(12 inches?). My friend had the eggplant parm. There is no seating inside and outside there is one, lone bench which we decided to use. My sandwich was money! Chicken was juicy and not over breaded, the mozz & pepperoni were toasted to perfection! I split half(unwillingly) with my buddy. I am not a fan of eggplant parm HOWEVER it was money as well! Not too much sauce, no soggy bread, eggplant sliced thin and lightly breaded… ahhh…just like I eat it. For the 2 sandwiches(which are filling), small bag of chips and 2 bottles of water/soda it came out to $ 21…not too shabby. Will definitely be returning. Just wish they had more seating but it seems to be a «commuter» deli which is fine.

The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review is high rate of error in completing phone in orders. Something is ALWAYS messed up. I have called ahead lunch orders in the morning to make sure to reserve chocolate chip cookies, only to have none when I pick it up, and of course find that they are sold out. I have called ahead for sandwiches for dinner for long group car trips, only to find 50% of the sandwiches ordered substituted for something entirely different. It is too bad, because the food they make is fantastic. The chocolate chip cookies seem to go back and forth between two recipes, the original of which may be the best I have ever had(Star Ledger agrees!). I wish I knew why they started messing with it, and I wish they would stop. Of course, you HAVE to try their half and half. Their breakfast sandwich is sometimes very good, but other times the bacon is overcooked. Also, the roll they use is a little sweet for my taste, though some people might prefer it. Overall, so tasty, they might be the best deli in New Jersey if they sorted out their service issues.

It’s right in front of the New Providence NJT station. They offer different varieties of daily sandwiches, all traditional version with a twist. We had the cheese steak with wasabi mayo and jalapeño. Very good and good to clear your nose too. I had the grilled chicken with lettuce tomatoes, onions and thousand island dressing. Their ice tea(available by the quart) is THEBEST! Also the rice pudding. It’s a great neighborhood deli and seems like they employ every single student from the area.
