Great décor, service awesome but when it comes to food: SUPERB! The ceviche in that coconut shell is fresh, right combination of ingredients that will keep you wanting more! Try the lobster sliders, yup! Lobster mixed with spices on a slice of bacon that’ll take you to heaven!!! My only concern; it was loud! But that can improve.

This place is a nice date spot or a dinner night with your girlfriends. It’s byob so make sure to bring your wine. We had some east and west Side oysters and I couldn’t decide which I liked more. Our waiter was very informative and taught me how to differentiate oysters based on location.(Now I am an Oyster expert! Haha) From the appetizer menu I recommend the octopus salad and tuna tartar. I will be going back to try more of their food.

I have to give Fin Raw Bar 5 stars. This place was outstanding. My husband and I took my parents and we had a lovely dinner… BYO so everyone was happy :) we started off with oysters which were really good(pricey for sure), the crab cake which we all thought was amazing and a hot crab dip that everyone loved. I had the salmon special that was stuffed with crab… it was so delicious. We have lived in Summit for 2.5 years and we can’t believe it took us that long to try Fin Raw Bar… I can’t wait to go back!

Much smaller than the Montclair location, which isn’t a huge problem, but the seating is a little tight. This fact makes private conversation almost impossible, but by no means is it difficult to hear due to noise concerns. It’s just not the most intimate of settings. Like Montclair, it’s in Summit where the same parking difficulties exist. If you have a reservation, I’d suggest showing up a little early to find parking, though that’s not fault of the restaurant. We found the staff to be polite, friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and creative. Of the highlights, the Octopus appetizer is on the money. Cooked just right without a hint of chewiness or toughness, with a nice hint of a citrus dressing. They also served a shrimp and scallop dish that was similar in flavor to a ceviche. They had run out of shrimp of all things, but they made up for it by adding more scallop. Served with a light salad, this dish was another winner. One of the negatives was our table right near the entrance. They’d be wise to invest in some type of removable outer door area that could help a bit with the outside weather. They’ve put up a curtain which is somewhat helpful, but you still feel the chill when that door opens! The prices were not unreasonable, though a touch high. 2 apps, 2 entrees, no dessert with a side of brussels ran about $ 110. Keep in mind, that’s a BYO.

Love this place! Ambiance and location are key, the raw bar is one of kind in this area. Oysters never disappoint and the staff is extremely outgoing. Love the Bronzino and tuna appetizer. Definitely worth a try!

Came here on a Saturday night and everything about it was amazing. There are not many raw bars in the area so it is hard to find good oysters and a variety of types, but Fin contained both. The atmosphere was nice, seafood is my favorite genre of food, and it was BYOB. So right away I was off to a great start. We got lobster sliders for appetizer, you get 3 of them and I never had lobster sliders, I am glad I got to try them as they were delicious. The oysters are at market price and depending what type you get the price varies. We got medium sized west coast oysters at $ 3.25 a piece. However they had 3 different types of west coast and let us mix and match. The oysters and the dinner overall was pricey, but we knew that going in. A fancy place, Saturday night, and oysters. You don’t do it often so if you can justify the price, it was one of those few places that live up to the price tag. I got the Tuna for dinner and my girlfriend got a delicious Mediterranean bass. Both hit the spot. The desserts they offer are all amazing. We got a smores dessert. A smores flavored scoop of ice cream inbetween graham crackers. This is probably my new go to spot for special occasions, and on Tuesdays the oysters are cheaper, so in the summer it will probably be my favorite spot. It’s pricey but like I said, especially in Summit, this is one of the spots that are worth the price tag, especially if you love seafood like me.

Great night in summit. Nice selection of oysters to pick from — I went with east coast but they had several types from west coast too. Tuna fish with 5 spice seasoning was delicious and my wife had killer scallops — bronzed. Nice spice and perfectly cooked. First time here was great experience and we will definitely be back

When my friends told me we were going to a new seafood place i was a bit skeptical, but after eating the food at FIN, i am a fan for life. This place may not be the biggest in the world, but the service is top notch and the waitstaff is superb. Sure we had to make reservations. But the appetizers were incredible and the food was hot and delicious. Parking can be a nightmare in Summit unless you get lucky, but eventually you find something. If you do mass transit the train is about 1 ½ blocks away. Great town to walk around in also. But FIN is all about the incredible food and great atmosphere. BYOB if you want alcohol, but water was fine for me. Will go back again soon.

I’ve eaten here once, so I’ll need to be back before deciding on the fifth star. Note: They ARE open for lunch, Unilocal and other sites say they open at 5. Parking in Summit is always a challenge, but there is a lot behind the restaurant you can usually find parking in. The place is light and airy, and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food — was outstanding. It was not inexpensive, but, I felt it was worth every penny. For lunch, I tried both the Lobster Grilled Cheese, and the Lobster & Shrimp Omelet. Both items were fantastic! I know several people who said dinner here is terrific as well(and gets quite crowded), so for sure I’ll be back soon!

Our dining experience was not great and our perception probably would have been different had the manager and the waitstaff made an effort to fix the situation. Our dinners were hit or miss with nothing really standing out. Out of everything we ate the crab cakes were the best. we also ordered the Thai shrimp fried rice(not recommenced) and the fried calamari salad which was good. My husband ordered the fresh pasta with lobster and crab and it was completely inedible. The pasta had been so over cooked that it was mushy to the touch! We called our waiter over to explain the issue and to order something else. He was nice about it but he kept saying«sorry you didn’t like it» when in actuality it was a cooking error not a personal preference. We had to wait for a new entrée to be brought out with the other plates in front of us, not exactly a nice night out for dinner.

Don’t believe everything you read. We were a party of three on a Friday night and our experience was great. Two of us walked in while one was parking the car. They sat two of us right away. Our server was great. We ordrerded oysters and clams to start, and she didnt pressure us to order entrees. We did anyway since we were ready. The food was excellent. Best oysters we’ve had in a long time. Swordfish was very good. Crabcakes were good. Our server was very good. We’ll go back very soon. It was very loud, really too loud for conversation. But the service and food was very good. Not sure where the comments regardiig the hostess on other reviews came from.

This was my first visit to fin, however my parents had been there a few times before and have always had a wonderful dining experience. It’s loud and that’s the main reason it’s only four stars, especially since the acoustics can easily be fixed. Other than that, it was a pretty great experience. We had to order our appetizers and entrées at the same time, so it took us a while to know what we wanted. I genuinely wanted everything on the menu. The waiters were very kind and helpful, especially the one that helped us choose what oysters to get. The food was amazing. The oysters were amazing and so fresh. Everything is incredibly fresh and it’s so obvious upon tasting. I had the edamame dumplings to start which were REALLY good. The broth around the dumplings was so flavorful and it made what could be tasteless(edamame) into something amazing. The fried calamari was unbelievable. I’ve never had calamari so fresh and light, by far the best I’ve ever had. My sister got the charred octopus, which she didn’t really like because she didn’t like how charred it was. I tasted it and loved it. I made fun of her a bit because it was obvious that on the menu it says CHARRED. it has a really nice smoky flavor, though, and is really nice because they achieved that flavor without burning the octopus or anything. We all loved our entrées. Again, everything is SO incredibly fresh. As people who have summered in Maine for decades(essentially since my dad was a kid) we know fresh seafood when we taste it. And I can’t overemphasize how fresh our food was. My mom got the cod which I tasted and thought it was really good. My dad got a pesto, shrimp, and pasta dish which was also really good(I wish I could give you the exact names of the dishes but I don’t remember). I got a pasta dish with lobster, crab, and shrimp and it was amazing. The pasta is all homemade so it tastes fresh and flavorful. The lobster was really good(again, I grew up on Maine lobster that was living in the ocean hours before it became my meal). Overall, it was an amazing meal. I highly recommend fin. P. S. A note on the noise level: it was bearable. That might mean something coming from me considering I’m pretty ADD and loud noise is something that can be unbearable. It was bad at first, but as the meal progressed it kind of became nothing more than a nuisance. The noise level should most definitely not be a reason to keep you from dining here. If you can, try and request a table in the very front, the noise level isn’t as bad.

It’s difficult to remember a dining experience as unpleasant and surprisingly disappointing as my recent visit to Fin. Especially so because I’ve been there a number of times and, well, found it good enough to go back. Until now. Fin now treats their patrons as if they should feel lucky to be there, and guests should either abide by Fin’s rules, or too bad. There are so many great restaurants in Summit, Chatham, Madison, etc.etc. that serve great food and treat their patrons as welcome guests who have a wide choice of places to eat. Fin can not count themselves in that group. The food was okay… it was the treatment we received by the hosts that was appalling. We arrived a couple of minutes early for our 6:45 reservation, and pulled in just before our friends. The hostess would not let us sit until our entire party arrived. it was freezing standing by the front door, by the way. I explained that or friends were parking their car and would be in in a minute. She wouldn’t budge, saying, «it’s our policy.» In a couple of minutes, when our friends walked in, she sheepishly said, «well, many people tell us that their party will be complete right away, and don’t tell us the truth.» I guess she just couldn’t bring herself to believe me. After dinner, I tried to pay with a Fin Restaurants gift certificate, purchased for me at the original Fin Restaurant in Montclair.(Again, as you can see, I’ve been a patron for a long time.) They wouldn’t accept it because it was purchased at the other site. «It’s our policy» I was again told. It’s the same restaurant family, and the card list the two Fin Restaurant locations. Still, no flexibility on their part. I asked to speak the owner, Mike, and was told he would not come to our table to discuss it. What about the policy of pleasing your customers? How contemptuous. See ya!

So glad we finally made it here. After living 2 years in Bloomfield and never having made it to Fin of Montclair, it was about time. We were biking Summit one night and decided that we were starving after a late lunch and we would pop in to the enticing raw bar restaurant, not even noticing it was also Fin! We quickly stopped at the liquor store and picked up a white wine. The restaurant was able to accommodate us without a res on a Sunday night. NOTE: liquor store on corner of Beechwood and Union Place just a block away closes at 8pm on Sundays! The ambiance is wonderful. You actually feel like you’ve been transported to a beach destination like Florida or the Hamptons. Feels good on a Sunday night! We went light and ordered a dozen oysters with a mix of Long Island, other East coast and west coast(Washington). So delicious! Served with red wine vinegar(vinaigrette minuet) that resembles an Italian ice. It was soothing and interesting. I had asked for red wine vinegar, but this definitely did the job and was different which I loved! Overall $ 35 for a dozen was hard to swallow… but also wasn’t ;) The tables were a little tight in the middle of the restaurant but couldn’t complain as we didn’t have a reservation. The hostess was extremely attentive and inviting which we liked. We will definitely return for a full meal.

Fin is newly-opened in Summit(as of October), and my wife and I hadn’t gone to the previous location where we were(Montclair). We decided to give this spot a shot, as we had a hankering for some oysters and wine. It’s in an awesome location — right in downtown Summit and a few minutes away from us. Really cool vibe and décor inside — casual but formal at the same time. The place has a ton of seating, but some of the seats are pretty close together. We had a sandwich of two couples to the left and right of us, both of which could have their conversations heard easily by us. And vice versa. Kind of a mood-killer, but it’s not too bad. If you have a booth, you’re fine. The dozen oysters we got were really good: we opted for the mix of West and East coast oysters. The vinaigrette Minuit was fantastic — textured a bit chunky and chilled, it’s an awesome substitute for the classic, liquid vinaigrette we were used to. I also enjoyed the cocktail sauce for a few of my oysters. Another smaller downside is the price: for a dozen, depending on which oysters you get, expect to spend $ 2.50-$ 3.00 per oyster. Good rule of thumb. It’s also BYOB, which is nice, as we brought our own Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy.

I came here with a group the other night and was super impressed. Im big on reading reviews strictly to find out what I should order for dinner, so Ill get to that. Our waiter Greg was awesome, had great recommendations. Im a huge foodie and when trying resturants I like to try everything on the menu, figured I should let you know that so you don’t think I’m this large and in charge women ordering all this. For apps: We got 3 different kids of oysters, I was super impressed with how fresh everything tasted, they also had a special on clams where they took the clam out of the shell and then fried it and put in back in over spinach, holy amazing. We got the lobster roll sliders, which Ive had better it was too much bread too little lobster rolls. We also got spring rolls which Im not sure what was in it, but it literally cleared up my running nose, my eyes would water with each bite. Everyone else thought it was good thou. Overall, oysters and clams are the way to go. Table Tasting: Truffle lobster mac & cheese, I mean can you go wrong with this? It was great. Shrimp Fried Rice: this was my fav, its comes out in a pineapple, yes an actual pineapple with chucks on pineapple, I’m a sweet person(not just my personality, but my teeth I mean) it sounds interesting but so so good Garlic Fries: These are regular friers with garlic DIPPINGSAUCE, Im thinking the other reviewers expected fries with garlic on them. Sauce is bomb. Dinner: Crabcakes: They are shredded meat crab cakes, for some(me aka a crab cake addict) i prefer lump crab cakes so personally this was not my fav. Shrimp & Lobster: holy amazing Scallops: These were really good, not the best Ive ever had though. Dessert: Peanut: very very good Banana: even better, this is why I live.
