My wife and I went there for breakfast today. It is hard to beat good cheap Mexican food. We will definitely go back. I had the breakfast tacos with sausage. My wife had the scrambled eggs with refried beans and potatoes. A lot of people were getting the breakfast tacos to take to the office. Next time I go back, it will be for lunch.

I went to this little place thinking it would be the standard gringoland Tex Mex joint masquerading as Mexican. This was reinforced by all the reviews here singing the praises of their«breakfast tacos» which is indeed a gringo creation.(Clue: When Mexicans eat tacos for breakfast, they just call them tacos.) Anyway, they have«authentic» in the 2nd line of the title, so that got my hopes up a little, but I wasn’t convinced until I walked in. I went for breakfast, and as soon as I looked at the menu, I knew this was the real deal. They have everything from the usual egg dishes and tacos to Central American delights like platano frito. I got the migas plate and asked for platanos instead of potatoes. There was lots of tortilla in the migas but they were good. The beans were creamy and tasty, and the plantains were fresh and soft. La Fonda has my business for now. Next I’ll see how the huevos rancheros are.

To keep it short, I thought the service was great but the food was a whole another story. I never had a bad torta, until now. I bought the fajita torta, and it was really salty ! I was extremely hungry and I still couldn’t force myself to eat this .The only good was the service.

I have been coming here for years and actually ashamed for not reviewing sooner because I love it so much! «Authentic Mexican Food» and it’s as advertised. I have brought many friends here and they all give it 5 stars. Its a small family owned place where they love food and love to serve. Fresh made everyday. I am also a big fan of their breakfast tacos for take out or dine in. Try this place, it’s a solid bet for good food.

Today 07−10−15 we ordered over 100.00 worth of food from Lafondas. I ordered nachos and asked for everything on the side which did not happen. On the to go container someone wrote everything on the side however everything was on the nachos except cheese the chips were stale some of the meat was even uncooked. My coworker ordered Nachos with extra cheese and opened her to go container and only had meat and chips. Another coworker ordered quesadillas and there was hair in her food. When we contacted the restaurant at 12:42pm I explained the situation. The guy I was speaking to responded«Ohh ok» I asked if he wanted to replace the food or refund and he said«ughhh hold on» He then placed the Manager on the phone Micaley couldn’t really make out his name but I am certain it started with the letter M. I explained to him what happen his response was«Ohh you have the food still» And I let him know all the food is here did they want to pick it up and bring us back corrected order and he said«NO» I asked well what about a refund? I then was told«Well you would have to bring the food back» I explained that he delivered to us and since it was a inconvenience and they messed up its only fair to correct the problem. He then says«Well we are out of cheese» which would explain why 2 of the orders had no cheese instead of them saying that from the time the order was placed. He then goes on to say«well since you’re at work you can come by Monday and I will have cheese» I then was done with this call not to mention a few of us wasted money. Great place for breakfast tacos. Got some for the office, a few of each they offered. Everyone that had one in the office really enjoyed them. The green sauce is super hot, I tried but enjoyed the red better. Staff was very friendly and helpful and will be back to try lunch.

Been going here for years when I work in Houston for the week. It is an old standby. You know what you will get. It is Simply, clean and made well. Sure their is better but there’s worse too. The breakfast burrito hits the spot. The guacamole is solid. The steak is a bit tough. But hey so is Houston rush hour. I just avoid it. :) Enjoy

I was hesitant to stop by in the morning, 1. Because I’m always running late. 2. Because I am a loyal customer to another spot. La Fonda is conveniently on the way to work for me, so today I decided to check it out and let me say… I have no regrets! The serving size isn’t like the other places out there. I would describe the breakfast tacos… «Restaurant style» which is a little on the heavy side, leaving you feeling tired. Compared to «street tacos» they are fully stuffed! I had to use utensils to pick up the remainder of the egg and potatoes. Green sauce is the , probably not good for you but it was amazing AND spicy— the manager(I think he’s the manager) is super kind. I will definitely stop by again.

Amazing authentic Mexican food with excellent customer service. Their breakfast tacos are the best in Sugar Land!!! The restaurant is always clean and the owners clearly take pride in their homemade food, reasonable prices and making sure their customer is satisfied. Also they have excellent salsa and the best flour tortillas! This is the only Mexican restaurant I use at company breakfasts to cater breakfast tacos!

My daughter and I tried La Fonda for a Friday lunch. The food is served from warming trays cafeteria style. The place is very small with about 8 tables. Since we weren’t sure what to try we stuck with the lunch special of fajita tacos. I had the black beans along with Spanish rice. The food was very good and the beef was very tender. The black beans were seasoned perfectly. My daughter enjoyed her food as well. The people are extremely friendly and will explain all the dishes. I didn’t see a menu with prices, but the taco meal(2 tacos, rice, beans) was only about $ 8, so I can’t see the other prices being that high. They clear the dirty tables quickly, but that’s probably because they don’t have a lot of them and didn’t want people standing. There are a lot of people coming in ordering to go food as well. I guess the only complaint I have is the size of the place. We sat at a table where people lined up to get their food. So you have these people about 2 feet from you staring down while you eat and talk. In other words, my daughter couldn’t say a lot about her date the night before. :) However, don’t let this prevent you from trying La Fonda. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, the place is clean, and the people are nice. That’s all we want right?

The saddest part about this review is that it took me 5 years of living in Sugar Land to discover this hidden gem! I’ve passed by many times and wondered about it but for some reason, was never tempted to go in. As fate would have it, we could not make it to our normal spot where we get breakfast tacos(Berryhill tacos from the Imperial Farmer’s market) on time since they close at 1 so, we turned around and dropped into La Fonda. When you walk in, you can tell it’s a converted Subway as it’s set up pretty much the same but, it has a nice homey feel with football on TV and a Mexican radio station blaring at the same time. The cashier was nice and took our order. I got my usual bacon and egg and ham, potato and egg on corn and the hubby got chorizo and egg on corn. I just figured the corn tortillas were the usual store bought kind like most places serve. i was pleasantly surprised when my tacos came out with fresh, homemade corn tortillas! I’ve only found a few spots who make their corn tortillas from scratch and these were darn good! The filling was yummy and hot and the food came out fast. They have a red and green salsa. The green is super hot according to my hubby. The red is warm and not too spicy. The bacon and egg is little pieces of bacon mixed in with egg(vs. a whole slice of bacon) and the ham is cut in thick chunks. The potato is almost steamed rather than fried which i liked. These are seriously THEBEST breakfast tacos we’ve had in Sugar Land/Fort Bend! And, the service is friendly and fast. You MUST try them! We plan to come back way more often.

I only go here for the breakfast tacos for $ 2 they stuff it with egg sausage, ham or bacon. If you like it spicy go with the green sauce. I’m addicted to this place every morning and my co-workers love it too. Minimum $ 5 cc charge. Lunch seems a bit pricey for the portion. You’re better off at a tex mex chain for lunch.

I come here every few months for the lunch, tried the plates for breakfast. Enjoyed the food, lunch was just little pricey. It’s not that it’s not worth it, it’s not my budget to spend that much for a lunch plate. I finally tried the breakfast tacos today after reading how good they are. They are YUMMY. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. I honestly felt it was the best breakfast taco I have ever eaten in my 30+ years.

Came here with my dad for breakfast. He has been coming here for a couple of years now, and the food is always great. Coming from a Hispanic family, I can say this is some of the best Hispanic food in Sugar land. Always great service, and even better food. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a Mexican breakfast!

I’ve been here several times over the years. Great service though I did a lot of pointing. I got the fajita chicken lunch it was $ 12. I felt it was expensive for the amount of food I got. It was good though. I will be back. I love their salsas. My tip: they are only open for breakfast and lunch.

Today, I ordered a caldo de pollo from this place. It was the tiniest caldo I have ever received from any Mexican restaurant in my life! On top of that, it was also the greasiest I’ve ever seen. Just looking at it I knew I would not feel very good after eating it, so I went to subway instead. I’ve also had their breakfast tacos before and was not impressed! In Houston, you’ve got to do better than that! There are way better places out there for Mexican food.

Nice, cozy place. Bring cash, quicker service. Good food, but avoid the tamales. Cheap prices, quality food. Some of the best tortas you’ll find in Sugar Land.
