Loved! We were looking at a car in the neighborhood and got hungry– this place had good reviews, so we popped in to check it out. Glad we did! The service was excellent– the guy at the front who explained the menu to us was friendlier and more informative than most waiters, the food was delicious, the cucumber water was a nice touch, and the place was clean, comfortable, and has great music. I don’t give out 5 stars often, but I couldn’t find a single thing to ding them on. If ever we find ourselves in Sugar Land again, we’ll be back!

I had to walk out on this hot spot. The food looks delicious, but the lines are long and slow moving. There are not enough places to sit. Others also realize this problem so they save tables, which makes it all even worse. If you hold a table and the line takes twenty minutes, you’ve blocked people from eating comfortably. The restaurant is just too small for this large of a menu. If you want a fast service, reduce the menu. If you want forty menu items, offer table service. I will come back but only in off hours. The food looks delicious, just too much hassle to eat here.

The Crab Daddy and Fat Fries with half beef, half pork are tasty! Pork bao was disappointing but overall pretty good.

So today was our first time at Fat Bao! I was SO excited to come, especially given the stellar menu. We went during lunch on a weekday and the line was so fast! Also, the person at the register was great and helped me choose between a few items! I ordered the Spicy Thai — fried chicken with greens and sambal cream — and some spicy edamame. The edamame was excellent. Nice spice with a good heat on the back end, as opposed to overpowering spice. Also, the edamame was cooked perfectly. The bao… Less good, but still enjoyable. Their buns are cooked so wonderfully. Nice and fluffy, but still firm — not soggy or spongy. The chicken was also tender. My biggest«meh» moment was the sauce. When I hear«sambal cream,» I look forward to some serious flavor. What I found instead was a bland, sweetish sauce that was red in color, but not vibrant in flavor. My colleagues also had ups and downs. The low lights were the Memphis and the pork katsu baos– but I didn’t taste them — and their highlights were the New Yorker and the Crab. Overall, I’d go back and try a bit more. They have a 5 in service, but the food left me wishing I could start over. I’ll still be back, though — and you should give it a try and see what you think of their many bao styles!

Fast and very friendly service. Ordered the New Yorker and loved it. The salmon is raw and it was fresh. Not slimy or stinky. Tasted delicious. Also had the bulgogi bao. Big serving or meat inside. A little heavy on the sauce it is cooked in– kind of made the bao soggy, but it was still good. I have also had the fat fries a different time and they were delicious– spicy, but delicious. It is a bit overpriced for the small baos but if you order 3, which is filling enough, it’s about $ 12 which is a regular meal. Will be back.

Came with a large group and it wasn’t busy at all. It’s an order and sit down location which makes it easy for a large group splitting the bill. We choose this ramen location instead of others because it had a lot of other options for our group besides just ramen. We got the ramen, two baos and kimchi fried. The kimchi fries were my favorite because they were skinny fries that were crispy and it came with Bulgogi on top! The ramen was good but not the best, I’m not sure I would choose this location for ramen only. The baos wee good and relatively good size. I would recommend at least two baos to get full though. Overall a good ramen location for big or small group. The food also came out super fast which was great cause we were very hungry!

I love Fat Bao. My favorite is the Crab Daddy and of course the Fat Fries. Sinfully delicious. I have recommended so many friends to check out Fat Bao. We were there at the Sugar Land location this past Saturday evening, slightly after 9 pm. The restaurant closes at 10 pm. I found it disturbing and upsetting when one of the waiters started sweeping the floor, near our table, while we were waiting for our food to arrive. He continued sweeping while we were eating. When a restaurant advertises that it closes at a certain time, I thought it means they will keep on taking customers until the time. It seems to me like they were trying to hurry us out of the restaurant. Cleaning the restaurant while customers are still around is a big NONO!!! We left at 9.25 — with 35 minutes to go before the official close time.

Quick and delicious food! We had tickets to the movies and needed a place to grab food fast. My dad and sister told me that this was a order at the counter type place, so we would be able to get in and out. I’m glad that this is true! All their baos look delicious, but after a week of non stop eating I decided to be a healthy person and go with the smoked salmon salad. When I ordered it, they asked if it was ok if they substitute fresh salmon instead. Um, of course! Both my sister and dad got ramen. A friend got the soft shell crab bao. There is an entire soft shell crab in there! I could definitely go for that next time. The salad was super filling. There was a great portion of salmon in there. Next time, I’ll ask for it without the pickled apples. It was a little too tart for me. I loved the ginger miso dressing. I’m glad they gave me two containers of it, because I doused the entire salad with it. You can’t beat fast and good food!

My favorite place for fries! Their fat fries are soooo delicious! I prefer mine with bulgogi but they also have pork belly as an option. My usual baos include: — Crab Daddy Bao — Big Byrd Bao — Pepper Tuna Bao — Tofu Bao Other yummy items I order: — Avocado Chips — Pepper Tuna Salad — Tuna Tacos Ramen is available everyday and certain days they offer Korean Fried! The habanero sauce they make is to die for! Check out their lunch specials! I get the homemade chips with 2 baos usually.

I went yesterday because someone suggested I try their Green Curry Ramen. I can tell you that it was on-point. It was just enough spice. I will definitely go back and try other items.

Pretty decent place for baos and ramen! My fiancé and I each ordered ramen and shared three baos! We ordered the Pork Belly(Braised pork belly, Asian slaw, spicy mayo, green onions), Crab Daddy(Fried soft shell crab, Asian slaw, spicy mayo), and Pepper Tuna(Seared tuna, avocado, sliced pears, honey wasabi sauce) baos. I personally loved the Pork Belly and Crab Daddy baos, but did not like the Pepper Tuna. I thought it was bland and the flavors didn’t seem to complement one another. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, which I thought was alright overall. Again, decent place, but not the best.

This is my third time eating at Fat Bao. I had high expectations for this place. maybe too high. The food is okay, nothing to shout about. The pork belly was a little dry the last time i had it. I also wish the bun was fluffier. I recommend ordering the soft shell crab or pork belly. Each bun is about 4-$ 5. Great lunch or dinner spot. If you’re craving peking duck buns and you don’t want to sit in a more formal Chinese restaurant, then this is the place for you.

I was very excited to try this place, because the concept of a restaurant specializing in steamed bun snacks and entrees sounded wonderful. I ended up ordering The Tonkotsu Ramen and a New Yorker Bao on the side. The Tonkotsu Ramen(pork belly, soft boiled egg, fish cake, back fungus, bamboo, green onion): First of all, when they say there is «fish cake» in the ramen, they mean«a fish cake» as in A singular fish cake the size of a nickel. They should also have mentioned«half of a soft boiled egg». The pork belly was not very amazing either — more fat than meat, and still not very tender or flavorful. They also put more fried pork rinds into the soup than actual pork belly, and the addition of pork rinds was not even mentioned on the menu! As a Filipino, I love my chicharon, but I also love actual meat. Not cool. Not worth. Also, broth was a little bit too salty. I AMSOCRITICAL I AMSORRY. For the sake of positivity, the New Yorker Bao was ok.(Though I think I could have made it myself with ingredients from Chinatown). They didn’t skimp on the ingredients though! That was nice.

My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday around 5pm & it was not busy at all. The guy who took our order was super friendly and informative. Since it was our first time, he gave us lots of suggestions. We got the Fat Fries with Bugolgi, Spicy Miso Ramen, and Big Byrd Bao. I highly recommend the Fat Fries, a BIG5 stars! It was really good! The Spicy Miso Ramen was not really spicy so that’s good but I must add that it was a bit salty.(I’m not a big salt fan so 3-ish stars) The Big Byrd was pretty good as well, so about 4 stars. Overall, my first time experience was great. Food was good(definitely going to get more of the fat fries next time!), the service was fast and friendly, and this place is somewhere I would definitely recommend!

So I’ve seen this restaurant on Unilocal and I was very excited to try it one day. I was thinking wow they have so many good reviews, their food must be excellent! Finally on Labor Day Monday I was hungry and my bf and I decided it was time to try this place. I was very hungry the day we came here and I was thinking that I was about to eat some of the best food ever, but that’s not exactly what happened. Upon entering there didn’t seem to be too many visitors, the atmosphere was fine. The restaurant is very clean and well put together. Service was also very good from the cashier and the food came out very quickly. The price was a little higher than we expected. Now lets talk about the food… I’m not sure if I’m just not a fan of this style of food, but it just wasn’t that great to me. I had the Tonkotsu ramen and it looked good, but it was not what I expected. My bf had the crab daddy, spring chicken, and pork belly baos and he too was not very thrilled. We had high expectations due to all the reviews, but honestly I was not a fan of their food. Also considering the fact that we were very hungry it should have been easier than usual to satisfy us. The food looked good when it came out to us, but I couldn’t force myself to eat my ramen bowl. I honestly just drank some of the broth and ate a little of the noodles, but I honestly just couldn’t make myself eat it. I’m not a fan of Fat Bao and I will not be going back and trying anything that I previously ordered. I hope others have a better experience with this place, but I was not thrilled at all.

I finally revisited fat bao while I was on the way to my sisters house. I made a to go for a couple of Baos and their appetizers. I ordered the Fat Fries and fried Avacado Fries. Both were delicious and filling. I also ordered a bunch of Baos and they were actually all good. From the peking duck, pork belly, salmon(new yorker), and the Korean bbq. Since I’ve been to their first location off of Kirby years ago when they first opened… I was happy to hear they expanded to sugar land, but I was weary on the fact that these were $ 3 – 4 a piece and were going to be small… portion wise. I am pleased to say, they have done a great improvement. Looks like the owners have read and took into account the feedbacks from consumers. The bao portions were perfect and enough to fill you up for lunch. Generally 2 or 3 Baos should do if you also order appetizers. I saw that their ramen dishes are not available for To Go which makes sense because for this dish to be really good, it needs to super hot and served fresh. I have had their ramen but it wasn’t anything spectacular. I like my ramen with a punch of flavor in the broth and I didn’t get that. However, that is just my preference. I enjoy slurping on my ramen broth.

Really yummy… This has been on my bookmarks to go so I was excited to have a lunch date with my hubby. Food Fat Bao lunch special One Bulgogi Bao-so much flavor! The dough from the steam bun was a perfect texture and held the meat perfectly. The Bulgogi was nice cuts of ribeye with cilantro and a kimchi sauce. I devoured this one. Soft shell crab Bao-I took one bite and didn’t eat anymore. It wasn’t gross it was just lacking in a all around flavor profile. The taste weighs heavy in your mouth. It could use some fresh lemon and a citrus sauce of some sort to cut the fat. Memphis Bao-Was OK Pork belly was overcooked and lacking flavor. We put some hot sauce on top and it worked. Yummy Fries-Fries were cooked perfectly but the sauce is like an Alfredo sauce with Rosemary, once again very heavy. Fat Fries-The Show Stopper!!! These were a crazy hit of flavor in your mouth and a beautiful flavor profile that was perfectly balanced!!! Your talking Rib eye, onions, cilantro, kimchee sauce. You must try these!!! All in all good place wanted to be mind blown but it was tasty for sure. I want to try the Ramen next.
