I think its average place for chats. But, not many better options in Houston. I have been here 3 – 4 times. I will give it 2.5 stars. Food taste is average, ambience is average, but they don’t always clean up quick. If you looking to eat chat in sugarland this is one of decent option. In Hilcroft I would rather go to Sarvana Bhavan for chats.

This restaurant’s theme is on Bollywood movies and it has lots of Bollywood posters hanging on the wall filling up line by line. For an Indian, it must be fun remembering all the past movies while looking at the posters. For others, like me, it’s more about the food. Chowpatty is a vegetarian restaurant so all dishes are vegetarian. The vada pav is the best dish on the menu. Parking is limited as it is next to another Indian restaurant and nearby a dancing school.

We went inside Chowpatty chat recently. We were the only ones and this was during 4 – 5 pm. I ordered Cholas. The whole place reeked of urine. They need to clean their bathrooms. Blah. You can sit and puke but not sit and eat in there.

I went there when it first opened and loved it. Then, in a rush and hungry I went a few months ago with family. EVERYTHING has changed. It is empty for a reason. it starts with the absolutely crappy customer service, then it is followed by the worst dosas Ive ever had(Im a dosa and Indian food aficionado), then the sad coconut and horrible tomato chutney, and lastly the abysmal sambar. One fail after another. It is tragic but there is a reason that the original creator does not affiliate with this location. The original one moved to Hillcroft and tastes awesome. I heard the entire story and it is a shame that the original location in Sugar Land was pretty much unfairly swiped and is clearly is a copyright trademark infringement, the additional letter added doesn’t change the fact that you actually stole a restaurant concept from your own family member. Its a sad world out there. I will never step foot in this place again.

Me and my husband visited this place to try out the chats. We ordered Vada pav, chole bhatura, and samosa chat. I liked the vada pav and samosa chat, we got it done spicy. The vada pav is the closest to Pune Vada Pav that I have found in Houston. The Chatni was perfect. I was not happy with the chole bhatura because they had too much masala in it. A good place to try out chats. I would recommend it to my friends.

Wow… I was a little worried when they first brought the pani puri out because it looked a little plain but it was SOGOOD. And their mix chaat was the literally the best chaat in Sugar Land if not all of Houston. And they play old Bollywood songs. Love the food and ambiance.

For Houston standards very very disappointing. The one on Hillcroft is way better. Not going here again even with the buy 1 get 1 free offer they have to run in order to keep this place busy.

Huge disappointment. It was cold and drizzling. We all were in a good mood for some spicy and hot food, preferably chat. Found this place on Unilocal and thought of trying out. Our first order was pani puri. It was ok. Nothing good about it. But can’t complain either. Then we ordered Ragda Pattice. It was cold. And whatever bright red colored liquid they pour on top of it, it for sure is not the red chutney. They claim it is. To me, it tasted horrible — like some chemical. Me being an optimistic, thought its just that this particular dish came out bad. They can’t go wrong for every dish. And since everybody in the family were still in a mood for chat, ordered two more dishes, this time, asking them not to pour that red liquid. Both came out worse than the previous. There’s nothing to taste except bland chanas and raw onion. And both these dishes came out cold. Like literally from the refrigerator. I complained and the answer was that the chanas are generally from the refrigerator. If I had ordered pav bhaji or dosa, they would have given it hot. The chefs here really need to at least watch some videos on how to make chat. It’s not that tough. And cold food is an absolute NONO.

From Bombay… tried Raj Kachori and Samosa Chat. looked good but both were of bad taste… price on the higher side. I should have checked their reviews before going there, it was 2 out of 5… I thought I could taste something close to the real deal back in mumbai… but they started just a week ago, so price could be higher understandably. also got poor customer service(typical for Indian stores) but they could have done better for a new business at least to get customers… not coming back. Bad

Courteous and very friendly! Not a big place but the food is great. My dad is obsessed with the sambar! Authentic south Indian sambar! Excellent chole bhatura & I always get the mango lassi! Try it for yourself :)

So I am saddened by these reviews because I just happened upon this place and had a great experience! Since they have so many choices on the menu I was confused as to what I should get and the staff was super helpful. Everything the guy suggested and some of our own pickings were great. He even offered to make us something off the menu. We had the paneer tikkis and idili tikka and both were DELICIOUS! I was very happy with the experience. They also have free sambar at the front which you can sip on as you wait for the food. The place is well decorated and feels authentic. I was born in Mumbai and know that the food was consistent and fairly inexpensive. The portion size is correlated with the food as they don’t claim to serving family sized but Chowpatty styled meals. Thumbs up and thanks again to the gracious staff!

Dunno why the others were complaining, we ordered grilled bombay sandwich, paneer kathi rolls(fully loaded with paneer), sev puri, dahi puri, masala lassi and mango lassi… this place is very stylish and food tasted very good. Prices are also very reasonable. i would like roti’s in the kathi rolls but it was still very yummy and Salimbhai was very sweet spoken and curteous. The Ambience Rocks and the interior is very stylish and upscale. The AC needs to be cooler and would give 5 stars if they had their name board up. The best thing was the food wasnt hot like most other chat places and does not burn your palate but can be ordered to be made spicy if required. Chef Nirman and Salimbhai definitely do a good job.

Horrible. Food is over colored with artificial food coloring, it’s too oily, and THEREWAS A HAIRINMYSAMOSACHAAT Avoid this place at all costs. Take your money somewhere else, preferably Aling’s in the next block over. This place was quite good when it was new. There is a very skilled master chef who makes good stuff, but it’s clear he seems to have gone somewhere else.

I heard about this place opening up in Sugarland and wanted to check it out and experience the hype. Unfortunately, it was a chaotic experience! People were lined up smak middle of the restaurant, bumping and grinding over the seated customers. A ordering line would be ideal under such circumstances! The food I must say was preety good, although a bit far from authenticity. Priced reasonably but not worth a long drive if you don’t live in the vicinity. I tried their Chole Puri, Bombay Chaat and Dahi Vada. The Chole Puri was probably the best tasting dish out of all. Also tried their Mango Lassi and regular Lassi. They were good too.

AVOID… this place is horrible… Drove all the way from Friendswood hoping for a somewhat decent chaat/desi fast food experience. So somehow upon finding this place without a sign, we ordered papdi chat. Really sweet. Pav bhaji and samosa were made I guess 3 – 4 days ago, couldn’t even take a second bite. I like to think that I’m a pav bhaji connoisseur, and until I visited this place, I’d never tasted sweet flavor in Pav Bhaji, the dude used sweet onion instead of red… Dosa and idli were the only decent items though the dosa was cold. We are on our way to another restaurant. Wouldn’t come back, Same experience at their restaurants curry walah and Indian 56 bhog, the one in Clear Lake that closed down due to similar problems. A HUGE disappointment on the name of chowpatty!

My wife and I decided to try out this place on a Saturday afternoon, thinking it will be open and serving food. As it even says on Unilocal and on their business website. To our delightment, the place is CLOSED on Saturday afternoons!!! This is pretty absurd way of doing business. Business owners of this place hopefully can read this and take corrective measures. We also had 2 other cars that came behind us that also left and went to Udipi Café. Also a business sign outside would help in figuring out where this place is, instead of guessing.

What a terrible experience we had !!! We drove all the way from medical centre to chowpatty chat. It was sunday evening and we had to wait for approx 20 mins to get a seating. Then after ordering the food, it almost took 1 hr to get everything we ordered. The food looked yummy in the pictures and menu but when we had it, it was awfull… The masala in the masala dosa had literally no salt in it :(The bombay grill was worst then we make at home. I think they should stop using the name of Bombay for every item named bombay was tasting exactly the opposite of how we have it there. The sev puri had just sweet chutney in it. :( In all I would say it was the worst experience we had till now!!! and no one should try it!
