The wedding we had here 8÷14÷15 was phenomenal. We were more than thrilled with the service that Terry and her staff provided to us throughout the entire process of coordinating a wedding. We must have went to the house at least 10 times and Terry was accommodating and more than helpful every single time we went. She was there through the rehearsal, through the wedding, throughout the entire process. Answered our texts, e-mails and phone calls with the multitude of questions we had day and night. So happy the Obici House has someone who cares as much about the property, the history and service for events at this location.

I have mixed emotions about this review since on one hand I was glad to see that the Obici House was saved, while on the other hand, I didn’t like how it all happened. I don’t like that they tore down the detached Carriage House that was also on the property. The House is beautiful and unique with history. I am perennially disappointed with the golf course and I have been to only one function in the House since it was restored. The food was nothing remarkable and the service was even more non-descript. I don’t know what they charge for functions there, but I thought that maybe they would have improved the surroundings a bit more to accommodate the status of the Obici House, the surrounding out buildings, clubhouse, 18th hole and driving range. It looks like they did the bare minimum to the house. I don’t want to tarnish this review too much since I haven’t been there for an official event within the last year. I noticed that they are having an open house soon and I plan to check it out and update my review. I would recommend that if the price seems to high for your event, then pass on Obici House until you start seeing better reviews on the service and food.

The Obici House location and facility is beautiful and unique. The staff and servers during events are second rate at best. Was a bridesmaid there this weekend(10÷17−19÷2014) and they were completely unconcerned with tending to the Bride and her mother and when issues were brought up they would shrug and just walk away. Whole services that were discussed and agreed to in the contract were not performed(i.e. setting up iced drinks for wedding party in the upper parlor area, running out of white wine an hr into the reception etc), and this is not a cheap location to have a wedding, I was not impressed with the service at all, but the beautiful location does make up for sub-par service if you’re a proactive event planner.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at the Historic Obici House in June of 2012. It was lovely. They presented us with a multitude of options of different room choices, menu options, etc. We were able to arrange our tables just how we wanted. The place is incredibly beautiful and ornate, it doesn’t really need any decorations. Overall, I was so pleased. If our wedding guest list had been a little smaller, I would have had the reception there. It’s affordable, quaint, and classic.

Love, love, love the Historic Obici house! This old home that belonged to the Planter’s Peanut founder was on the verge of being demolished but Mr. Roundtree who runs the Sleepy Hole golf course stepped up and helped to get it renovated and turned into a restaurant and Pro shop. Since the location is out of the way, the restaurant being open to the public as a regular restaurant didn’t work out but now it is open for special events(you can find them on their website or Facebook page), parties or weddings. I miss being able to just go there for dinner, enjoy the view and the beautiful house but understand why they had to change the operation. The food is worth the price, the staff is friendly and they are happy to show off the restaurant and allow you to walk around and check it out.
