The energy here is absolutely sickening. We walked in. Weren’t greeted by the girl with the bob behind the bar. Then the short haired red head was like, «I guess I can do it» when the one behind the bar asked her to seat us. The server looked miserable. The energy was just so bad I couldn’t even enjoy my food. Unbelievable dude. Never coming back here. My bun was dry, broke apart. It also took them 45 minutes for them to check on us and get me a refill for my water. The only normal person who smiled and was nice was the tall handsome young man with the dark hair.

I came here after a long day and felt so taken care of. Even though it was the end of the night, and the staff clearly would much rather get out of there as fast as they could, I still got amazing service. Their manager on duty happened to be the one that served us and he was great. Very attentive, really nice, and our food was perfect! I hate to say it, but I almost stopped coming here because I would get my order taken wrong every time, Very annoying! But like I said, this time it was perfect. I had to get the name of the manager so I could write this review. Thanks to Noah for a perfect visit to the Counter!!!

I Love The Counter! Everything I have ordered there is delicious! I usually get their amazing Cobb Salad, which has a big and tasty skinless chicken breast in it, and it is soooooooo good! The salad has egg, Danish Blue cheese crumbles/bacon, and my favorite bermuda onions in it! Sometimes, I will order their delicious Sweet Potato fries with it, and put it in their horse radish aoloi and it tastes incredible! The customer service is the best in my opinion! It is a nice and clean restaurant with clean restrooms too, which is a plus!

I went to the studio city location for the first time this past Friday. I will definitely be back. Even though they were busy my bison burger came out quick. My burger was juicy(which is nice because bison can easily dry out. Also the fries were crisp with a ton of condiments to choose from. In fact one of the managers(a blonde man cant remember his name) brought out several dips for me to try. He discussed his favorite dips and suggested a nice red for the burger(which was helpful because I don’t drink a ton). I will definitely be back for the happy hour and to try the milkshakes.

Review for this location only. This location is pretty small. Sitting inside can feel crowded. I gave this place 2 chances and both disappointed in one way or another. Food: the concept is great, build your own how you want it. Just good luck getting it cooked how you ask. «Zero pink» is as clear as it gets but yet my sliders were pink AF inside! Aghhhhhh Also, both times we came here the wait for the food was pretty long! Even with not that many people dinning. Staff: is nice but not efficient. Nobody here is in a hurry so don’t come here if your starving and looking for quick efficient service. Come here If you are not that hungry and want to scream a conversation. The inside can get loud. Second time we sat outside but were often forgotten about. Probably won’t be back to this location although its closest to where we live now. Best location is in Santa Monica! Hands down.

They are a little bit expensive but the burgers are absolutely delicious. I am a huge fan of burgers of all kinds, especially those with fresh ingredients, and have to say the burger I put together at The Counter was one of the best I’ve ever had. I had my burger on a gluten free bun, which was delicious, and my date had the Chipotle Turkey burger(which we both loved, especially the cranberries)! We also shared a Banana split shake which was a bit small but super tasty and light like a smoothie. The thing I love about fresh, quality food is that even when you’re totally full, you don’t feel sluggish and can still walk and that was definitely a plus! The food portions were generous and the service was excellent. I even grabbed a takeout menu to give to the family. This place definitely exceeded my expectations and I would definitely recommend giving them a try.

They changed the menu(again!) and managed to get rid of most of the things I liked and replace them with more expensive alternatives. I used to think this was a great place to meet anyone — so customizable that everyone could find something. Now it’s become cost prohibitive and the options just aren’t worth it. Be sure to check the menu before you go back of you’ve been before.

Took my dad here for his birthday dinner — he used to love The Counter in Chicago and was so disappointed when they closed. I jumped at the chance to take him to the Counter again! They just make great burgers here. You can pick size, type of burger, bun or salad style, cheese, sauce, toppings, bun, and side. $ 10 for a 1⁄3 lb burger(plenty big enough) that I enjoyed tremendously — beef burger on a gluten free bun(you can’t even tell it’s GF, tasted great, $ 1.50 upcharge for that bun), gruyère cheese, basil pesto, carrots, mixed greens, oven-roasted tomatoes, and grilled peppers with a side of shoestring fries. The sauces come on the side, which I think is nice because the burger doesn’t start out soggy or messy. You get an abundant portion of fries in a vertical cone-shaped holder so you don’t even realize how many you’ve eaten. My burger was a perfect medium rare, all the toppings were fresh and plentiful — even with the smallest size burger you’ll still feel very full from toppings! And the pesto sauce had a great flavor. We loved this place in Chicago and we love it here — friendly service, no wait for a table on a weeknight, and a seemingly infinite amount of burger combinations to choose from that will satisfy everyone!

This is my favorite burger restaurant of all time. I highly recommend the purist, ordered medium rare. Their fries are good as well. Service is quick usually, but it does get very busy. If you are a burger connoisseur, try this place out. Their meat is grass-fed, antibiotic free, and healthy(for a burger, that is). It’s about $ 10 – 12 bucks, but well worth it. The burgers here are big and generous. You’ll leave this place full, satisfied and in burger heaven. They serve beer and have delicious cocktails, as well. Give this place a try. I’m addicted.

Never mind the five dollar best milkshake in pulp fiction that of course led to a food coma overdose by Uma Therman, cause she didn’t have the stomach, nor the caloric intake powers to appreciate it, meet the seven dollar Graceland! The Graceland is a twisted, yet delicious milkshake that comes with smoked bacon, banana, ice cream, peanut butter! And yes, there will be calories, and self-loathing thereafter, and females are sure to never order this, but it was tasty as hell, and I’ve never had the pleasure of consuming a more finer milkshake. –angryfoodguyapproved

Anyone who dares tell me that Umami has the best burgers in Los Angeles can kick rocks. I am a Counter girl, and always will be. The thing about the Counter is, there you sit with all the options and power in the form of a tiny pencil. You choose your own burger adventure. But don’t be afraid! I know there’s a lot that could go wrong. Maybe you thought you should add a fried egg and you’re worried it won’t pair well with those artichoke hearts. The thing is, the burgers are truly so fantastic that it doesn’t matter how hair brained you might get with your combinations of ingredients. The burger will always do you well.

3 stars because the staff is kind and its super kid friendly. My toddler loved coloring and eating french fries. But… the food… is not good. I had the ahi burger and it was supposed to be seared. When it was served, it was ICECOLD. Umami makes an ahi burger that is perfect… this one was not. Hubby’s chili cheese burger was totally meh, too. Nothing special at all. We love their fries and beer offerings… Only go here if you have kids and lower standards. Sad but true.

Ehhhhhh I don’t understand the raving reviews. I love the concept it’s so cool but poorly executed. By poorly executed I mean the beef is bland. You can’t be a burger place with meat that’s not seasoned. The beef makes the burger, not the aioli sauce or the other cool toppings. I made a custom built burger and I’m not impressed I’ve had better burgers at 5 guys. Needless to say I won’t be back.

One of my favorite places to get a good customized burger !! The choices for toppings & sauces are endless & I never know what to try next. You can pick between 1/3, ½, and 1lb of meat, what kind of bun, cheeses, etc ! Don’t forget to grab an order of fries or onion strings, you can even order half & half. I also highly recommend their chili cheese fries yum ! Want a salad but also want a burger? You can make a burger bowl ! Same concept, pick the toppings you want, then they cut the burger up & serve it all over lettuce. Service is always great, whenever I come here whoever our waiter is always comes back to make sure we’ve got everything we need. I also signed up for their counter card, every time you come you get points & they’ll send you rewards like $ 5 off your next meal. The counter never disappoints & I definitely never leave this place hungry!

After visiting once a couple years back, their BOGO burger mailer got us back in the door, and it worked! The Bison with Bite was excellent. We both ordered burgers straight off the menu, whereas last time we struggled to build our own burger with a lot of ingredients that didn’t really add up. We’ll leave it to the professionals in the future. Staff were on their game, very efficient at keeping the crowds moving. My only knock is we have a pretty heavy rotation of specialty burger restaurants in the mix, and I’d choose to return to most of the others first.

I was slightly disappointed in my most recent experience here. This could be somewhat contributed to the fact that I was starving but I came in around 7.30 and ordered the regular sized Sonoma bowl to go(meat medium rare) Okay, the to-go container is pretty big, and while I don’t expect it to be full, I was really disappointed with how little this salad was. For $ 12 I was expecting more than a meager handful of mixed lettuce and literally a sprinkle of quinoa… I opened it and was like«this is it?» Also, the utensils were IN the box which I thought was weird, as opposed to being in the bag. Flavor wise, it was top notch, I really enjoyed the goat cheese and the meat was cooked deliciously. Also, for the size of the salad the amount of dressing they give you(on the side) is huge. I have enough of the basil pesto to use on homemade salads and sandwiches for a few days, at least. I plan on giving them another shot and hope their portions live up to their taste.

Pretty unbeatable for the most part. Excellent appetizers — small portion of garlic/parmesan fries is just enough to share and super tasty. If you’re a picky person and prefer to have more input and say as to how your food is prepared, this is the place for you. Burgers are massive, and there are thousands, if not tens of thousands, of combinations you can choose from, as well as pre-engineered combos to choose. Favorite part — the veggie burger is actually a house recipe, not a Gardenburger thrown on a grill. And it is YUMMY for sure! Great bun selection — the Hawaiian roll is my favorite. If you want, and what I am planning on next, you can get it more as a salad or bowl(no bun) option as well. From what we could tell with our spying, you’d probably get overall more toppings that way too. Service is great, but the restaurant itself is a little crowded; we were seated at a table with other people. That’s cool… but also kinda not cool. Also pretty pricey; even the sides like basic fries are extra. Otherwise, pretty much five stars, and I see us going back often as there are endless options of burgers to try.
