I love this restaurant. I always have such memorable dinner dates here with my boyfriend. The food is amazing– skirt steak, salmon, empanadas, morcilla, chorizo, milanesa, and chimichurri sauce! and they have delicious sangria, too! For sides– salad, rice, mashed potatoes, and french fries. It’s pretty darn good. The venue is spacious and romantic. I love the atmosphere and the wine decors in the ceiling. They could use a little improvement on the staffs, however, as they are less friendly and attentive compared to the LA location. Also, I find their service is slow as well, and they’re not even busy! They could also improve on their togo packaging– it comes kind of messy and the portions are A LOT less than what you get at the restaurant. It really looks unappetizing. This place is valet only for $ 5 or you can find meter parking. Also, Lalas has thrown my company’s holiday party the past two years and they do a FANTASTIC job! They’re on top of the game and always sends the best servers.(I do wonder where these servers are at the restaurant?) So friendly, kind, and easy to work with. Great presentation and amazing food, as always.

Lala’s gets a lot of credit from me, I’m picky sometimes, but only picky because I want the best for my money & stomach. I can’t complain about much besides the constant disturbing street traffic that seems to overrun the ever so delightful food & conversation. 4 stars for the noise, if none, I’d give a great 5! By the way, order the sangria pitcher, it’s amazing!

Had a medium well skirt stake with parsley and garlic. It had a bitter taste to it. The side salad’s lettuce was old and I bet unwashed so I skipped it. The fries, oh well I would say McDonalds make better fries !!! Disappointed

The lobster ravioli was far more bland than I imagined it would be and it came in a large heavy white cream sauce. I wouldn’t order that again. The kid’s angel hair pasta was far more tasty. The best part of the meal was the bread with chimichurri(sic? — herbed oil). I would go back and try again and probably order a chicken dish this time: cheaper, comes with side dishes and probably more flavor. Will update if I do go back.

Well we wanted to eat at Barrel & Ashes but the wait time of very long, looked around and went to this place Lala’s. Never had been so what the hell. Parking was a nightmare, as you can see in the picture. We were sat quickly. That’s a good thing. They gave some dry bread and this bowl of oil and minced greens. Not good. Too drippy. I got a ribeye with salad and mashed potatoes. The meat was decent, not great. The mashed potatoes was just that. Without flavor, very bland. And salad was just chopped and tangy. Tip for the kitchen, place the mashed then the salad, that way I don’t have salad under the mashed. Staff wise left much to be desired. Can they hear you, no. And the creepy green light started to hurt my eyes. I’ll pass from now on. Didn’t even get my BBQ.

I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I didn’t even get to sit down to eat. Parking is horrible, which is something I knew I could get over once inside. We came here with my family to celebrate my sisters high school graduation. Knowing that there were going to be masses of people eating because of graduations, I called to ask for a reservation. The man over the phone let me know there were no reservations, and no wait, so to come by. As soon as we got there the hostess asked us if we had a reservation and I explained to them what the man had JUST told me. The hostess and manager shuffled around a bit then asked us to move to the side. So we did. We waited a good 20 minutes before I finally got frustrated and asked if a table was being set or if we were waiting for a new table(no one thought it would be a good idea to tell me what’s going on I guess). That’s when they told me they were waiting for a table to be open. So we decided we would leave, but the hostess told me if a previous reservation doesn’t come, we can have their table, but of course they showed up. So we waited about 30 – 45 minutes in total, for nothing. I don’t mind waiting, but some communication between whoever is answering the phone and the girls at the front should happen so this situation doesn’t happen. Our hostess was nice about it but I found it awfully rude that the manager on duty didn’t say one word to us. Not even an apology or an acknowledgement until I was in front of her. GOODSERVICEISWHATKEEPSPEOPLECOMINGBACK. I’ll never come here again… EVER. Id rather go somewhere like mercado buenos aires. At least their restaurant treats you nicely.

Definitely a solid 3 stars!!! Always good food but nothing mind blowing in my opinion. I always get the dijon salmon with salad… its good but nothing that I couldn’t make at home… maybe I should branch out. The atmosphere is nice… love sitting at the bar. Service always great and friendly. And that’s my 2 cents

I was there celebrating a birthday last night and introducing some friends to a new place for them. Fortunately it was not very crowded and the table was located in a nice spot. Plenty of light to read the menu by and not too noisy to talk. Those were the pluses . The service was okay until the meals were served and then we almost never saw the server again. Just once after the food was served and after we requested coffee from a busboy because we could not find a server. When we got it we couldn’t not get refills without finding a busboy again. Or asking the hostess. We were charged $ 1.25 per plate for the cake, which we had to cut and serve ourselves even though the server had promised to do it. The drinks were good and the Sangria I’m told it was very good but everyone had some comment or is issue with their food. The skirt steak tasted like flank steak or carne asada it was so chewy and not lean. Chicken was rather dry which was somewhat covered by the various sauces. Entrée Salad was very large but came drenched in dressing as did the side salads that came with meals. I was very disappointed in the mail and this was a very different experience than I have had on the Lala’s on Melrose where the steak has always been excellent and never seemed like a different steak than what was on the menu. While the selection is large and the prices are good I probably will not return unless it is only for wine and an appetizer.

Picked up a large late-evening dinner for my wife and I. — Lala’s Mashed Potatoes: These mashed potatoes were actually some of the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. Large portions too.(I ordered two, thinking one for each of us, but we ended up splitting one, and had 1 full one left over for the next morning) — Griega Salad: Good version of a greek salad. Solid. — Pechuga Dijon Chicken(Chicken breast brushed with homemade dijon-white wine sauce.): I really liked this entrée. Side of rice went really well with this thinly sliced chicken. — Entrana(angus beef skirt steak): The steak was pretty good, but ended up being a little rubbery. — Flan con Dulce de Leche: Pretty decent Flan. It was not a perfect meal(see: steak), but a very good meal non-the-less. We will be back here to get more Mash and try some other items on the menu.

Highlights: Chimichurri sauce, yummy bread, Sangria I ordered the meat platter and the sweetbreads were too chewy like porkchops, the chicken was really flavorful, and the skirt steak was medium and yummy. My favorite of the sampler was the sausage. The order feeds 4! The place itself is decorated really nicely and industrial like. We sat outside because it was a nice day on the patio. Try to get there a little early and park on the street because they just have Valley.

I really like LALAs. They renovated it a few years back and now it’s bigger. Tips: order the cheese and ham, cheese and onion and beef empanadas. Yum! Order the chicken al champignon. Either rice or mashed potatoes are great. Mmmm The flan is great too! Can we tell I’m hungry?! Also, valet! There is no parking. I think it’s $ 5.

Ordered lunch for my office to go and I got a call saying they were going to charge me a «10% labeling fee» to write someones name on a box. On my receipt they added that 10% charge as a tip for themselves. This is ridiculous. The food was pretty bland as well, no one was impressed.

Love this place. Fresh bread with amazing chimichuri to strat, chorizo as appetizer, entraña with salad as main course and pankakes for desert. Best with quilmes beer. One of my favorite places to dine with my family.

I had heard a lot about this place and finally was able to try it. I didn’t expect the restaurant to be so trendy and hip, and it was quite loud inside. Service was excellent though, they came around often and refilled our waters a lot. Their bread and dipping sauce is SO good. And their red sangria is delicious. As for my entrée I tried the entrana which was a delicious steak, and had the salad and mashed potatoes which were very good too! I cleared my plate. Valet only, $ 5 cash which is a shame but there aren’t many other options. I recommend this place and will be coming back!

Decent, but not the best Argentinian food I’ve had in Los Angeles. I’m a huge garlic lover, so I was really surprised at how subdued a lot of the garlic-centric dishes were. The chimichurri has some heat to it, but barely any garlic flavor. I also got the entrana al ajo(garlic steak) and the steak, while cooked perfectly, was completely underseasoned and I could not taste any salt or garlic whatsoever. The sangria, however, is PHENOMENAL. Not too sweet and its the perfect balance of wine and fruit. Order a carafe and you’re good to go! The empanadas were a bit dry, but still solid. We got the sampler, which consisted of 4 mini empanadas, which seemed like sort of a chintzy deal when you’re sharing between 2 people. Overall though, the atmosphere is pleasant, the décor is cool, and the service was very friendly.

I really wanted to love Lala’s because I enjoy Argentinian food. The menu looked amazing, the place had all these awesome Unilocal reviews, but the food was just OK. The chicken«a la Provenzal» is thinly pounded chicken breast, grilled and topped with parsley and garlic. The chicken, for the most part, was moist and juicy(the edges though, were a bit dry, probably because the meat was an uneven thickness so the thin edges rebelled against the hot grill). The side of rice was more memorable for me, fluffy and aromatic(I wonder if they cooked it with broth)? Overall, the food was OK, but I wouldn’t forget about Lala’s just yet because the menu has so many other delicious goodies to offer. Maybe next time!

I am obsessed with the chimichurri here, it’s so good! It’s so delicious that my bf went straight home and figured out how to make it just so we can have some for ourselves. I’m vegetarian so there aren’t a ton of options, but I did enjoy my skewers. My meatatarian partner in crime had himself a feast of empanadas and I don’t even know what else at this point. Anyways, it was all enjoyable and the service was pretty good too.

Disappointing in comparison to true Argentinian cuisine. Some of the menu items had potential, but nothing truly stood out to me in terms of flavor and authenticity. Upon arrival and self seating for a Saturday lunch, we ordered a few different items on the menu. The house bread served prior to the meal was definitely not made in house; however, the lemon and herb oil that was served with the bread was a refreshing change from the plain olive oil that most restaurants serve. We started with three different types of empanadas: spinach and cheese, beef, and chicken. The empanadas were overly greasy to my pallet and both the chicken and spinach were doused in cheese. This really masked the flavor of the protein and spinach and the crispness of the fried dough. Although the beef was not overly cheesy, it lacked flavor and spice. We followed with the Ravioles de Langosta which was nothing more than mediocre. I enjoyed the sauce on the pasta(though the pasta was swimming in the sauce), but the raviolis were overcooked and chewy. In turn, the lobster, although tasty, was also chewy and a bit overcooked. We then ordered the entrana with a side of french fries and rice. The entrana is grilled angus beef skirt steak that is known in the Argentinian cuisine for its tenderness, juiciness, and flavor. We asked for the entrana to be cooked medium rare and we received the meat extremely well done. We had a few bites and sent it back. The waiter was very accommodating and apologetic. The next plate we received, the entrana was mildly seared on the outside and very rare on the inside. Unable to stomach more than a few bites we sent the plate back once again. Judging from the few bites we did have, the first cut of meat was chewy and had a lack of seasoning. The second cut of meat was a bit more seasoned but lacked flavor and pizzaz. The french fries we mediocre and the rice also lacked seasoning. Although the service was very good, the food was very disappointing. Because of this, I will not be back. I like to eat a meal that the kitchen staff enjoys preparing as opposed to employees merely throwing the meat on the grill. It seemed that the kitchen was unorganized and the food was not well prepared. Prices are fair and valet parking is available.

7229 Melrose Ave. Los Angeles, CA90046
