We came here for the umiak tours. It’s a small spot with maybe 5 tables. The pasta and crostini was so good! It was penne with tomato basil cream sauce and some crumbled sausage. The cannoli was also great. The food is definitely 5 star! I found the atmosphere to be off. With such great Italian food, I felt like the place was too small and being fed on paper plates was odd. The 3 people that worked there had free time on there hands so they either just watched us or talked to themselves in which we heard the whole convo because the place is so tiny. I’d definitely come here again but if you want a romantic huge menu Italian Menu, you won’t get that at Stowe. I think they should change the way they execute this business. They’d get a lot more customers that way. A+ for food though!

My review is almost entirely about price. I really really really want to like this place but the prices are crazy in my mind. Italian take out should not cost $ 50 and up for four people. $ 20 for carton of sauce. $ 14 for two/three meatballs. I tried the food it is really good but worry at these prices how many people can afford to consistently go.

There are not a lot of Italian options to choose from in Stowe. When this place opened up, I was really looking forward to trying them out. When I walked in and found my favorite Molinari cured sausage from San Francisco, I knew I was in the right place. They offer a wide variety of different types of Italian cuisine. You can order at the counter, and then sit down, or take it to go. My favorite is the eggplant rolantini, and their house«sauce» us to die for. The perfect combination of acidity and sweetness. Also, my favorite desert is the cannoli, and this place certainly produces an excellent one. The one thing I wish they did was sandwiches made fresh to order.

I popped up this summer to get some Heady Topper and to try out Sauce. I was not disappointed by either one! Great wine selection too. A must visit while in Stowe.

I have to agree with three of the other reviewers. Just arrived at Stowe for a three day weekend to close out our summer before school starts, and wanted to have a quick and delicious dinner. Found this place through Unilocal and the reviews were spot on. The special of the day was a great tasting al dente pasta with no formal name. I loved the owner who was super friendly and passionate about food. Casual dining in or outside the restaurant, and a great take out place! I’m coming back before this weekend is over. See you there!

Sauce is a true asset to Stowe, Vermont ! The culinary experience of Chef Jimmy Kalp brings the true flavors of Italy much needed in this area of Vermont. No need to sit for hours in a restaurant … Take home your Sunday Gravy, Bolognese, Chicken Parm, Meatballs, bread, salad & wine for a complete meal. Run. Don’t walk to Sauce. I have been visiting Stowe for almost 15 years and finally a local eatery has nailed the perfect italian food! I live in Yonkers and visit Stowe often to visit family I no longer have to bring«good» italian food with me the staff at Sauce has it for me. I walked in and felt like I was in ny the staff greeted me right away, Sarah at the counter was great and almost had me buying everything. Chicken parm was outrageous along with the meatballs and the sauce was killer. I also recomend the mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto. I was able to meet the owner and chef and they are both great and have that love of Italian food. Can’t wait to stop in and get some dinner and wine to take to the house with me in the winter! Only thing that would make it better is if they delivered to Yonkers!

My wife and I were so pleasantly surprised when we walked through the door of Sauce. We have stopped in twice now, and had an excellent experience both times. I have now ordered two different, pre-made sandwiches out of their cooler case. Both were excellent. It was quite obvious that they were freshly made, and they were made with high-quality ingredients. My wife has now ordered their roasted vegetables, and any other gluten-free choices, and has been quite pleased. They have very tasty homemade meatballs in to go containers, along with their homemade sauce. I even saw containers of fresh pasta to take home and cook for yourself. The next time that I return, I will be sure to go after 4PM, in order to purchase their pre-made hot entrées. I look forward to it, as everything I have tried thus far has been excellent. Great for when you don’t want to cook for yourself, but you want to have a nice meal at home. Well done Sauce!

i had the privilege of attending the soft opening and was amazed at the quality and flavor found at sauce. i was able to purchase wines that i have been searching for here in vt and was pleased with the prices and customer service. sauce is a great addition to the amazing food options that we are surrounded with in vt. here is a description of what theyprovide: sauce is an italian specialty market with a focus on restaurant quality prepared dishes — all produced fresh daily — along with homemade mozzarella. the store will have a selection of imported cheeses, specialty italian products, bread, wine and beer. one stop shopping so you can enjoy«il dolce far niente» — the sweetness of doing nothing. mangia! see you soon
