When your Caribbean wife smells a bag of West Indian spices meant for fish and she is brought back to the fish and seafood curries she had growing up and asks you to buy it, then you know you’re on to something with this place. Note: I used the spices in a fish curry, nice stuff. Had one of the best ice brew coffees, if not the best I ever had, my wife had a pretty great tea, and bought some spices. Really just really great place, and the owner is very helpful(and patient with overexcited younglings :)). Just go in if you’re around. If you’re passing through, stop your car or take a detour, and go in. You’ll know what I’m raving about.

I visited today for a short while and had a wonderful visit. Ama had just finished a brand new cold brew iced coffee and decided to treat me and offered some up on the house. It was wonderful! I’m visiting for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend this weekend and can’t wait to stop in and see her again. She is a lovely shop owner, so knowledgeable and the reviews are correct — fantastic selection. Cant wait to stop in again, grab my tea and cozy up by the fire this weekend!

Recently, I stayed in the borough and was intrigued by this shop during my entire stay. Finally, I mustered up the courage to step into this store. I like tea every once in a while but I am not very knowledgable about all of the different types there are. I was instantly greeted by the store owner and was invited to try any of the teas and olive oils that were laid out. The owner went out of her way to show me the many different types of teas, rubs and oils that she had and what benefits they had as well. I left with a delicious rub that the owner created herself, as well as a tea(an evening in the borough) that I am sipping on as I write this review. It is, as it says on the package a perfect after dinner tea. I look forward to my next trip to this shop and I have already looked up my next purchase or two on the website. Cheers!

What a great find. I was shopping in the Borough for a unique gift for a friend. I went into Amapola’s for a cup of ice tea and was surprised to find all sorts of gifts. I ended up with a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of balsamic vinager that was prefectly wrapped for the occasion. I also bought a bottle of walnut balsamic for myself that was out of this world. Christmas is coming, I’ll be back. The organic ice tea was great too.

As a resident of stonington, I’ve seen a lot of stores come and go. I sincerely hope this shop remains a borough staple. The selection of teas and spices is expansive and unique. For any tea connoisseurs or the average passerby, it’s worth a visit. Rarely do you find a store owner who is as knowledgable and passionate about what they sell. Five stars!

My husband and I visited Stonington Boroughs while on our honeymoon, based on a recommendation and we were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this little shop. The owner was so kind and gracious, and very educated about her blends, the different types of tea and their health benefits and properties. Not only did she have a million different teas, she also has really interesting spice blends,(we bought a tail gate blend and a chimmichurri packet), infused olive oils(try the blood orange, it’s AMAZING!) and infused, reduced balsamics(we got the fig… it’s perfect and sweet for just about anything!) I loved trying everything and smelling all the tea and spice combinations she had. I’ve been to David’s Tea, and Teavana, and this place beats the pants off both of them.

My wife and I like to venture down to Stonington borough a few times every year, especially after the tourists have left for the season, and were pleasantly surprised to find a new tea shop on Water street. I’m a big tea drinker and Amapola’s is like being a kid in a candy store! There are plenty of options if you are into exotic teas, with some very interesting blends. But for me, I like my tea without all those crazy combinations, and I opted for a nice cup of Gyokura green. If Amapola’s does one thing that is right, it’s giving you your tea, steeped at the right temperature and for the right amount of time. I can’t tell you how many«tea shops» I’ve been in, that use boiling water for delicate green and white teas. It’s sacrilege! If you love good tea, then by all means, check this place out. I know I’ll be going back every time I’m in the ‘Borough.
