Great food! Friendly staff! My sister and I finished hiking stone mountain and realized we were starving! So I searched Unilocal and found this gem! We came on a Sunday when they were offering all you can eat sunday brunch. The brunch didn’t have a large variety of options but what they did have was excellent. My favorite was the baked chicken, creamed collards, sweet potatoes soufflé and the made to order sweet potato pancakes!!! Everything was delicious! You will not be disappointed!!! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Sean our waiter was great as well!!!

My party of 6 came to this location based off of high recommendations and were there almost two and a half hours yet myself and another person in our group still hadn’t received our food. Our server, Chelsea was the only saving grace on our visit as she really tried her hardest to communicate the many«technically difficulties» that kept happening during our visit(e.g. The manager/chef, Karen Patten, told Chelsea that the batter for the waffles was bad so she had to re-make it, thirty minutes passed and Chelsea came back stating that the griddle machine was down so they could no longer make waffles, and Chelsea also came back another time to let us know that they could only make two waffles at a time so we were left still waiting for our order) Once some of our party began to receive their food in 20 minute intervals(per person mind you) their dishes were cold and the drinks were horrible(how can you mess up lemonade and sweet tea?) Then when enough was enough and we requested that Chelsea have her manager come to the table, Chelsea returned saying that the manager told her that she would not be able to come to come because she was too busy cooking the meals for the other patrons and would give us a 10% discount. We felt that wasn’t good enough and asked Chelsea to return to the back and ask the manager to come to the table. Once again Chelsea returned back to our table by herself and replied«the manager said that she was still cooking the food for the other patrons who arrived after us and offered to give us 15% discount) What a huge waste of time, needless to say we will not be returning and would not recommend others to go there either.(They lost a good bit of business today because several people left due to the long wait times)

Cute space that draws you in. The staff was friendly but beyond slow in service. We were told they were under staffed but we count 8 people cooking and serving in the small space. The food was okay. I had the brisket sandwich with sweet potato salad. The potato salad was really not good. Our service was so slow that we had to have everything boxed out of the kitchen to get back to a workshop and were 20 minutes late. Hope it’s better for you!

Not impressed. I tried the sweet potato hash and salad. How can a salad be bad? Maybe it was the raspberry dressing. Either way, I did not care for this place at all.

I found this spot in Unilocal and I thought as a vegetarian eating with a Vegan this spot would be good. I was right! We had the black bean burger and sweet potato fries, they were all delicious. We also had sweet potato hummus and it was a great starter. Vita out server with the most pleasant personality and wonderful Italian accent made the visit even more special. I would go again soon.

First and last visit to Sweet Potato Café. So disorganized and unprepared for a Mother’s Day Brunch. We never did get sweet potato biscuits, eggs biscuits, bacon, or salad. Our server took my order for pancakes and never brought them but brought out 4 orders to the table next to us who sat down and ordered ten minutes after us. After I reminded her she said they will be right out, another 10 min wait. Food items ran out by 1:00-they open at 11 and they did not replenish in the time we were there. We kept asking about the items and kept being told they were baking and would be right out… really?! Ham was dry, Mac n cheese dry, pancakes undercooked doughy inside. Disappointed Mother’s Day Brunch

The food was excellent, but the service slow and the order came out disjointed after long delays. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and sweet potato fries: orange and sweet potato salad, and turkey panini. All excellent, once it finally arrived!

Crab cakes were delious. We were there for lunch and they ran out of fried green tomatoes. The atmosphere was nice. Just stopped by to check it out at a friends recommendation. We will go back for the fish on Friday and listen to some jazz.

This a place that you come to and stay a while. The staff is very friendly, and didn’t rush us. We came after hiking Stone Mountain, so we were all tired and very hungry. My mom is a vegetarian, so she was worried that she wouldn’t have many options, and she was pleased to see all of the options she had. She was very impressed with the Black Bean burger and the sweet potato hummus. I had the chicken pesto sandwich with sweet potato fries. I almost ordered regular fries, because I’m not a big fan of sweet potato fries, but I tired then anyways. They were the best I’ve ever had.

Nice and quaint. Great feel from the beginning food was AMAZING, all traditional stiff, southern feel, with flavored just different enough to make this place unique. Please bring your friends here.

Super yummy comfort food — I tried grass-fed meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and risotto and salmon croquettes appetizer — sweet potato cheesecake(wow)

I’ve tried a number of different food choices here in the three times I’ve been here. They’ve been consistently tasty – I had never thought to have a sweet potato dressed up like a normal loaded potato(very good). I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had(their Sunday brunch is solid and dependable, not amazing). Anything they’ve made with sweet potatoes that I’ve had was outstanding. As others have said, their service is laid back which might be an issue if you’re in a rush, but if you’re prepared for a relaxed dining experience, you’ll enjoy it.

M.O.B. From the hot tea to the homemade marmalade everything was great. Few recommendations for forst timers though. 1. You Have to get a sweet potato biscuit … Because they are delicious. 2. All the drinks are great… Any choice is a good one 3. Its cozy and small and intimate so be prepared dor that 4. Embrace the flavor… Turkey sausage has a real zing

I was really looking forward to eating here since the reviews are so good and the menu looks great. I really, really wanted to like this place. Hopefully, it was just an off day for them. From the reviews I was expecting bad service and great food; much to my chagrin my experience was the opposite. My husband and I went for a late lunch and arrived around 1:30; it was not busy. We were greeted and seated right away. The lady was professional, not over friendly/warm and not rude/mean. She definitely did not smile, just indifferent, doing her job, but that was fine with us. The service is slow, but that was also fine with us since we were not in a hurry. We made the trip to Stone Mountain Village just to try this restaurant. We started with the fried green tomatoes; super disappointing. They were mostly fried batter; the tomatoes were cut way too thin so that you could barely taste the tomatoes. The relish people give rave reviews about was just a smattering of peas, corn, and maybe onion(?), which amounted to a couple of peas & a couple of corn kernels per tomato. So there wasn’t enough of it to taste. My husband had the Grilled Vegetable Panini; it was greasy and was still undigested by dinner time. The sweet potato fries were good, but lukewarm. I had the Oven Roasted Turkey Breast Panini. Being it is a home-cooking style restaurant I was expecting the turkey to actually be hand-carved, home-cooked, turkey breast meat; boy was I wrong. It was deli sliced turkey meat that tasted like the stuff you buy prepackaged at the grocery store, it was awful. But you could mostly just taste the bread anyway. There wasn’t any tomato on it, just a few pieces of greens and ranch dressing(? Not sure if that is what it was), it was really bad. For a deli sliced turkey sandwich the turkey sandwiches at Publix and Subway are much better and fresher tasting. This sandwich is a big rip-off for $ 10. My side of potato salad was not very good either. I didn’t eat it and neither did my husband, which is saying a lot since he hates to waste food and actually ate the chicken fries at Burger King the one and only time we tried them(gross). This is the first time in memory that we have left food on our plates at lunch. We both had water to drink, neither of us drinks tea/soda, and it was never refilled. This lunch was definitely not worth $ 26.75 + tip even if you are already at Stone Mountain, but definitely not worth a special trip. We were both very disappointed.

My kids and I went here for lunch and I must say I am a fan of this place already. Since it was our first time we just shared a bunch of appetizers. I wanted to try as much as I could. All of the ingredients were obviously fresh and so very flavorful. The fried green tomatoes were good but the black eye pea relish served on top of it was to die for. The corn nuggets were great too. Bottom line everything was something that I would definitely like to try again. lol

Decided to give this place a try after finding it on Groupon. I had fried green tomatoes and shepherd’s pie. Both were very delicious. The restaurant is a cute little place. If you are looking for a locally owned business with great food and decent prices this is a great place to try.

Interesting range of reviews for Sweet Potato so far. So first off, that number 1 complaint I’m seeing is for service. It’s not a lie, it’s quite remarkably slow when it comes to getting food out and that’s even if there are only two small groups in there and you are 1 of those groups. Is this a bad thing? I suppose if you’re in a rush — which we were actually– but if not, it can be kinda chill and relaxing to catch up with someone while you wait. Service, very friendly! Really enjoyed sharing some My Neighbor Totoro love with our server after she saw my phone case. So yeah, we were actually in a bit of a rush. I originally picked Sweet Potato without reading the reviews and upon seeing some tasty looking veggie grub in their photos was like this or bust since we weren’t sure of what we’d find at our final destination. It looked like quick food — burgers, potatoes, salads. etc. café style. Café style is right, but time wise. they seem to prepare everything with love or leisure. Honestly, I don’t mind. it sucked we were late for our thing, but the food was super tasty! Entrée’s aren’t served til after 5pm so you’re stuck with the afternoon portion of the menu — burgers, salads, some amazing potatoes, sides, and soup. Entrees are items like smoky meatloaf, sweet potato Shepard’s pie, stuffed chicken breast with spinach, and a few other really nice options. The menu focuses a lot on sweet potatoes, and if you’re looking for a healthy potate, then Sweet Potato café has the potate for you. Phenomenal sweet potato fries and an amazing loaded sweet potato(though loaded is a strong word for it, more like adorned with some tasty veg for variety). The baked sweet potato reminded me of the ones my grandfather used to slow roast with delicious caramelized goodness on the skin. The veggie soup was also well seasoned. This chef seems to care about their veg, and I also went in expecting a sub-par black bean burger, dry or tasteless, but nope… I’m giving their black bean burger at least rank 2 in Atlanta with a close tie for first. It could be my number one now. I’d have to see if it’s consistently good. The burger has a sweet flavor to it from the caramelized onions and the patty itself is well seasoned. Anyways, slow or not, I’m happy to find a veggie happy place for lunch or dinner if I’m ever around Stone Mountain. They’re doing it right.

This is the best place to eat in Stone Mountain. Food, ambience and service is superb. They may have the best burger in Georgia, and every plate we have asked for is delicious. Their service is also unmatched, with a family-like touch, even going out of their way to please us(e.g. my wife wanted a warm apple cider and even tough they didn’t have it on the menu they made it). We’re coming here every single time we visit the Stone Mountain Park. #BestoftheBest
