As a former local, I can tell you Bread and Cheese Cupboard has been a shore staple for years. And the sticky buns make it smell absolutely heavenly in here! I sadly have food allergies now, though, so I can no longer enjoy their cheeses or baked goods. I highly recommend them if you can eat dairy :) Cash only.

Been coming to this place for 4 years now. Was always a little turned off by the service, cash only, and high prices on cheese but where else can you buy some good fromage on the island? Went down labor day weekend for a few things before setting up on the beach for the day and the customer service was rude and rotten enough to keep me away for good. I’ve got thick skin and will frequent some places despite continued bad service but this place plain and simple does not have the goods necessary to justify ignoring the absolutely rotten ladies working behind that counter. I hope a new shop opens in town and cripples this place to be honest. It is 2015, time to get with it. I’m all about preserving classic establishments with a deserving product and hard working-hospitable staff, but this place certainly is not that. This place would not survive one summer season at most other beach towns in the area.

I would actually like to eat here more often but they don’t take cash and they close way too early. My family and I have tried to get the sticky buns after going to the beach, when people like to walk around in the evening, but they’re ALWAYSCLOSED!

Food good. Customer for yrs but finally fed up. Its 2015 and people dont carry piles of cash. Get w the times and take cards. We wld spend a LOT more. And there was an plder woman at the register who was SO rude. Wouldnt even point us to an ATM and when we came back and mentioned where the closest one was – so other customers arent inconveninced, she said«yeah I know .» Witch. Shame. Fire her and get w the times. Customer service shld be a top prioirity.

Stopped here for breakfast. The breakfast treats are to die for — super yummy and fresh baked. Sticky buns with or without nuts come only in orders of 6, if you want smaller quantities you have to make other choices(like cheese or chocolate croissants, crumb topped sticky buns, etc.). Oh, and cash only so be prepared!

Hands down the best sticky bun, I’ve ever had. Don’t settle for those dried out pastries that sit all day long. These sticky buns are moist and soft with the perfect level of sweetness. I also tried the«muddy pig» donut, and it was amazing. A soft donut covered with milk chocolate, chopped bacon, and a white chocolate drizzle. The house blend coffee was good too.

The service wasn’t very friendly. The sticky buns and crumb cake were dry and boring. I was so disappointed because they were still warm and smelled so good! I won’t bother to try any other food from here because of our terrible breakfast experience. It’s hard to make me not want to eat a sticky bun– it has to be pretty awful.

After cycling down from ocean city, I figured there would be that place where the 8 am earlybirds would go for the morning coffee and donut. You know that place at the beach… a few bikes out front, and maybe a line. I figured that place would be on stone harbors main street, and sure enough, it was. I can’t vouch as a regular patron, but as a hungry cyclist, it was perfect. A scone and coffee were in the three dollar range; however, the display case was a dangerous arrangement of pastry, sticky buns, donuts, and the like that could seriously tempt my tummy with the taste of caloric honey. It all looked really good… the kind of place that you don’t want situated right next door to your house. Coffee was solid, but scone was a little more crunchy than I prefer. Apparently, the seagulls disagree, as one attacked my scone and tried to pull it from my hand. Dirty airborne rat. Anyway, it was the perfect halfway stop. Seagulls excluded. Next time I’m coming with pepto-laced scones for them.

Just by walking by you get the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon buns! I love coming here for the chocolate covered donuts and coffee cake! If you come in the morning most of the pastries are warm to touch! I always look forward to stopping here each visit down the shore! One tip skip the coffee here.

The sticky buns are fantastic and HUGE. They are sweetly sticky gooey awesomeness. They get 4 stars because you can only buy 6 or more. I only wanted one sticky bun and now I’m forced to eat all 6! Goodbye diet, hello sticky goodness.

This place is awesome. My family comes down to stone harbor every year. Just before we leave, we stop here. By far the best thing they have(other than their pastries) is their pepperoni bread. Ohohoh my mouth just waters whenever I think if it. Highly recommended to go and awesome service

I love the crumb buns here! And they have a great selection of cheeses and savory goodies that are perfect for entertaining when you have a crowd at your beach house! Between the baked goods and the gourmet packaged goods, it’s a really great store to hit when your in Stone Harbor or Avalon!

If you’re used to Dunkin’ Donuts or something like that, then I suppose you might like this place. But if you’re a foodie like me, skip it. The doughnuts are stale and overly sweet. The selection is sparse(what bakery that sells doughnuts doesn’t have glazed???). The coffee is weak. Like most places down the shore, though, they have a captive audience, so they’ll stay in business forever.

It’s hard to walk out of here without ordering one of everything they have to offer. Everything looks and smells amazing — especially the sticky buns, donuts, and crumb cake. Since my eyes are much bigger than every part of my body, I got a half dozen sticky buns and half dozen cinnamon crumb cakes(for a group of 5 mind you). Everything tasted as good as it smelled. The sticky buns are amazingly sweet, sticky and delicious. It took me all I had not to eat the whole tray. The cinnamon crumb cakes were also really good. Moist and very flavorful. Next time I am going to try the donuts that look out of this world!

I basically just go in here for the smell. The pepperoni bread was pretty good. More like a croissant or danish dough than a baguette. Could have had a little more cheese and pepperoni, for the price. I took it home, split it and sandwiched an overeasy egg in there for a fantastic breakfast. The cheeses are pricey but it’s nice to know you can get them right here in town. Some cute gifty items in the store as well. I guess because it’s a shore business they don’t have to care about customer service too much, but it’s still pretty annoying that when I asked the girl behind the counter if they had ANYthing bread-wise that didn’t contain dairy and she said she would ask… she went into the back, came back immediately and said«sorry, no.» It may be true, but I find it hard to believe and figure the baker/manager just didn’t feel like taking that extra step to think about it and give me a real answer.

I love this place! We go every year we are down here for the sticky buns, but the breads and crumb buns are great too! Get here early to beat the lines, but even if there is a line it moves quickly. Excellent quality baked goods. Yet another shore tradition.

The wife took our son for a walk this a.m. and came back with a box of goodness. 6 sticky buns and 6 crumb buns. The stickys were great the crumbs were ok, I prefer a gooey sticky bun. Place is a little overpriced, but you are at the shore. Their pepperoni bread is AWESOME… Check the«Day Old» basket for ½ priced items…

WAY overpriced to get North jersey and PA yuppies to spend their money down the shore on gormet crap. Dont eat fancy overpriced food down the shore! Now go get some funnel cake and a greasy slice! Good variety but if u know cheese you know Di Bruno brothers would never sell Prima Donna for 19 bucks a pound! rediculous! you want sticky buns? For half the price drive over to Britton’s on Pacific in the crest.

You must get the PEPPERONIBREAD! Please. You’ll thank me… If you’re watching your beach figure this is not exactly the best place to go. If you want delicious, fresh, unforgettable baked goodies, it ABSOLUTELY is. Perhaps it’s due to regular consumption of these treats each and every trip to Stone Harbor for 10 years+: Bread and Cheese Cupboard is a MUST! Warm trays of plain, raisin, or nutty sticky buns are perfect for breakfast as are decadent strawberry & cheese, blueberry & cheese, and chocolate croissants. Pepperoni bread, a baguette stuffed with pepperoni and cheese, is a perfect afternoon snack and it is just greasy enough that it stays moist and delish until the next day. Stop in here for coffee, cheese dips, cakes, or glorious novelty coffee mugs. DOIT. I’m serious, look how many words are in CAPS.
