Manny’s California Fresh Cafe

Have not been treated this rudely in a restaurant. Twice. Ten years ago when they switched over to «California Fresh». I went in to order a Manny Burger. The girl snapped at me and said «we’re not Manny’s anymore, we’re California Fresh». So I boycotted this place for about 7 years… Fast forward to a couple of days ago. Ordering with a friend. She orders the Rotisserie Chicken which is on a big sign right above the counter. The order taker girl actually got snotty and said «We haven’t had Rotisserie Chicken or ten years». LOLOL. Then why do you still have the huge freaking sign up still??? Very rude girl… Also very long wait for average sandwich.

I absolutely love this place. The food is amazing. Get their chicken sandwich and fish sandwich — you will not be disappointed. I don’t know what they do to that chicken but super scrumptious.

I look on Unilocal for menu and number to order. Grilled Cheese on Unilocal menu is priced as $ 2.50 and $.50 extra for Jack Cheese. I call to order and to tell me the sandwich is $ 3.50 and extra $ 2.00 for Jack Cheese! The girl tells me that the menu is incorrect. They should change their menu online. false advertisement i paid for a sandwich I could’ve made at home. Nothing special not worth paying $ 3.50 for toasted bread and a piece of cheese.

Update Fathers Day not answering phones after a few attempts to do phone order. Out of Steak its discontinued out of roast beef. $ 3.50 for a side of two slices of bacon. Waited 20 min. Lady comes in gets food right away not me. Food sits on heating rack for 15 min before other food is done. Greetings are not warm either.

Been here multiple times but never had a chance to write a review. Good food, I like that they serve fresh cut fries but service is a bit iffy. I understand things can be frustrating when business picks up, but still need to remember that your running a business. I would recommend this place.

Too hungry to write a review, but top notch chicken, fried oysters, and pineapple milkshakes. Workers are friendly & the place is clean & well decorated.

Still as bad as before. Hamburger was raw and smashed and Chef salad was smaller than before. The garlic bread was stale and old. Staff is rude! Never again!

I’ve been going to Manny’s for at least 7 yrs its always been nice. However today I called yo place an order and the nab taking my order was totally rude, then told me they don’t give order totals over the phone when my boyfriend went to pick it up it came out to $ 31 for two burgers and 6 pieces if chicken. What if I didn’t have $ 31 dollars on me! It was really rude ill probably think twice before I order again.

The food deserves 4 stars, but the consistently 2-​star service brings Manny’s down to a 3 for me.
I’ve eaten Manny’s on numerous occasions and have always called in since I know they’re busy. They usually promise my order will be ready in 15 minutes, but in reality, it’s more like 30 or more. I don’t mind waiting 30+ minutes for good food… but not if the promised time was 15. Additionally, most of the workers are unwelcoming and unorganized. No greeting as you enter or leave the restaurant. No smiles. No asking if you need utensils or condiments. There’s no established line for in-​restaurant orders or call-​in pick ups. I understand the lunch/​dinner rush can be overwhelming for the workers, but that’s no excuse to treat your customers poorly.
The only semi-​redeeming quality of this place is the fresh food. Their fried chicken sandwich and the carmel are tasty. Extremely messy, but tasty. Both come with a pickle spear, but I recommend double checking if they’ve packed it, because sometimes they forget. I would pass on the BBQ sandwich — it tastes subpar and lacks texture since there are no veggies.
Yeah, Manny’s lives up to its name by serving yummy and fresh food, but I wish they cared that service is an equally important part of the eating experience.

My review is based off of the two items, the fried chicken sandwich and the carmel with swiss sandwich. The fried chicken to me was just okay. I thought that the chicken size is really big compared to the bread, and I always find myself struggling to eat it either bc the sauces are dripping everywhere or its just falling apart. Other than that, the fried chicken is sandwich is alright but not really good. The carmel sandwich on the other hand was awesome. I thougjt all the veggies complemented each other very well and the bread was just the cherry on top. The bread was sweet and crunchy. It was a little greasy, as in there was more oil than expected from the bread. But other than that, I really enjoyed the carmel sandwich.
Some things I really wish this place would work on is the service. I always find myself waiting a ridiculous amount of time for the food. I understand that the chicken is «made fresh» but I just feel like they can be a little more organized to finish the food in a more timely matter? In addition, theres an unpleasant smell that I am always greeted with when I walk in, and I realized that it’s the smell of the restaurant being cleaned with old rags or improperly cleaned material. I might be wrong but I just cant stand the unclean feel I get here. I personally do not enjoy eating my food at the restaurant because of this and always take my food to-​go. I hope the restaurant can work on these issues. Other than that, food aint bad! Check it out!

The avocado burger is my favorite and it is the only item that I specifically stop to enjoy. Usually it takes about 25 minutes to get my food which I have to say it’s worth the wait. I love the freshness and the decent amount of avocados in the burger. Yummy and tasty. Tip, if you are short on time call ahead and order your food! To avoid the long wait.

Been coming to manny’s for years. Food’s always been pretty decent (they have some of the best french fries in town). I really need to try out the chicken sandwich everyone has been raving about. I’ve always gone with either a grilled cheese or a cheeseburger. Customer service has always been poor here. It could be anything from them not picking up the phones when you’re calling, to lacking common courtesy. To put it a different way, they know they’re a busy business that attracts a good size customer base. People are complaining about the customer service online, but regardless they keep eating here.
Manny’s is a place that lets the food impress. They also try to stretch the food a bit to where it makes up for the poor customer service. It must be working out for them, this place is still always packed for lunch and dinner. If you’re in the neighborhood, it’s worth a visit.

Cashier didn’t know much about the menu. Food was ok needed more seasoning. I would come back.

Absolutely sucked!!! Worst burger ever! Seriously inedible! I wouldn’t go back there even if they paid me. The patty was dry the cheese was bitter they forgot some of the ingredients in my burger and the fries was the smallest portion ever.

All I wanted was my chicken sandwich with fries! And did I get that? No! So I took my food to go when I got home my order was all wrong. The fries were soggy like they’ve been sitting for a while and my sandwich had tomatoes on it and I asked for no tomatoes. And then my chicken was not all the way done so I called them and the lady that picked up the phone was so rude! I told her my problem and then she said «well what do you want me to do» umm hello I want you to fix it I told you I will come back and then she said «are you gonna come back or what» so I was like forget it no I’m not I can not deal with rude people ! Btw I gave my dog the food she liked the sand which not the fries! Lol

things have changed at Mannys…
I returned home from 4 years in the army recently and the lvl of customer service has fallen severely from where it once was here. I just now, tried to place a simple pick up order by phone and was given nothing but attitude along with being rushed. I ask «what condiments are available?» the guy on the phone response was «uuhh. Really? Like all of um? «than he starts laughing with people. I ask for my total for the 2 sandwiches he than asks me to hold puts the phone down (i can still hear everything near his phone) he than says «this fu**ing guy, i swear.» so than he gets back and tells me my total «will be around 15 something. «??? Well ok but can you give me an exact amount so i know and who am i speaking with. He tells me his name is «Susan» than ask «are we done? But my names stephan sir.
So in closing i canceled my order and will be taking my business to other establishments who know the importance of customer service

Their Monterey Jack sandwich is yummy. And their onion rings are good too. The Monterey Jack has tuna in it that truly melts in your mouth. The sprouts for some reason make it extra yummy too. And of course, the avocado adds a great touch to the sandwich.

Come here all the time. Love the chicken sandwich, the fish & chips, as well as the oysters. Their fried chicken is the absolute best, so much flavor and so juicy! Never had a dry piece of chicken from Manny’s.
They’re always busy. It’s usually best to call and order for pick up or you might be waiting for a while. Totally worth the wait tho.

My friends and I were super hungry after church, so we decided to go to Manny’s for lunch since it was close by.
There are a few things I have to say about this restaurant:
1. GET THE FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH. It’s not listed on the menu, but it’s so delicious. I always add avocado on mine! I love the crunch on the bread. Everything is a beautiful melody of deliciousness *WARNING THIS IS NOT A CLEAN FOOD TO EAT. YOUR HANDS WILL GET DIRTY
2. This place’s payment is kind of weird. You order, get the food THEN pay. I was caught by surprise because I’ve always paid before receiving the food
3. The restaurant was not that well ventilated. I found the location a little hot
4. The fries are good! If you like thick cut fries, this is the place to go.
overall, I really enjoyed eating here! I will be back

Manny’s never fails me! My only problem is I can never figure out exactly what I want. My 2 favorites are the Monterey (veggie sandwich with cheese, sprouts, avocado on honey wheat bread) or the chicken sandwich on sourdough! Mouth is watering just thinking about it.
So yesterday I decided to go for the chicken sandwich. In addition I added fries (can’t forget the mannys sauce), Chocolate milkshake and lemonade. The lemonade is freshly squeezed and oh so delicious!
Manny’s you are the real MVP!
