I recently went there for dinner, only to find them no longer there, and no sign or message that they moved somewhere else. And their phone number was no longer in service or changed. So they may have gone out of business. That would be a shame, as they had great food & service, and family friendly prices.

The Buffet has much to be desired. Food is cold/warm and with little content. I would order off the menu if I were going back. There is a full bar with many patrons drinking Patron… Service was good. There is a Pool table squeezed in as well so it would be hard to play. Might be better suited for seating.

Terrible food, terrible service. Wouldn’t even think about trying it twice.

Well make sure you check out the buffet before you sit down. I have been there 3 times and each time the trays were either dried out enchiladas, refried beans were terrible, how can you ruin them beats me. The rest of the food was not there. All the trays were close to empty. Then you have the lack of service. It took me 3 months to get my refund of $ 7. Will never go there again even if it was FREE and neither will any of my friends. I don’t know how they have stayed in business

We ate there with our son and his girlfriend, at his recommendation we bought the Groupon advertised. We had a very enjoyable dinner and evening. The food was good and the waitress went out of the way to accommodate our special requests. Extra garlic in the shrimp quesadilla, a salad instead of beans & rice. Everyone was very friendly. We will definitely go back!

I went there this past Saturday night and the place was empty. The people that work there are very good and the place is nice and clean. The food was slightly below average in taste but was very reasonably priced. On the positives — rice and beans were good. The carne asada tasted and felt like broiled chuck strip without seasoning. I do think this place has a ton of potential. But when it comes to Mexican food in Stockton, there are better choices.

I have given this place to chances. Once when it first opened, and again a year later for their brunch that came highly recommended. The food was not bad, but neither time did I find something amazing. I had a breakfast burrito the first time. It came with no rice or beans or papas. just a burrito. On a plain white plate. Nothing to catch my eye or make me anticipate that first bite. The second time was the brunch. Food again was ok. Nothing fancy. Had an ok selection. No man making waffles or omelettes off to the side. I was almost confused as to where the buffet was because you could almost walk past it because its stuffed in a small corner. Also because the layout/decoration is horrendous. It’s not ugly, but its like they didn’t try. And because there is no décor, it makes you feel like its a bit unclean. I can’t even really explain and that’s strange for me to be at a loss for words. I can tell you I will not do brunch there again, but should a friend want to meet there for lunch because that’s where they chose, I would join them. Oh. The waitress(the only one they had there) did tell me to come back for kareoke on weekends. I asked if they had drink specials and she said something weird about the bar not being part of them that its a person who works for themselves? I don’t know. It was strange. Call me when you have your sh together please.

literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced, the girl brought me my water AS I LEFT and NEVERAPPOLOGIZED, she also forgot to bring the chips and salsa I ordered until the end. She seemed occupied until the end when she brought my check and remembered about her needing to earn a tip. When I first walked in I heard her talking to a woman who was refusing to pay, and walked out of the restaurant mid sentence because she was(apperantly) so dissatisfied. Also the food was not good, meat was tough, chips were cheap. Horrible, I am peeved

This place is the super deal of Mexican restaurants. Seriously. On more than one occasion we’ve come on 59 cent taco night(Tues & Thurs) and had our fill of tacos and margaritas and had the bill be under $ 20. The meat selection on the tacos is as follows: Shredded beef, carne asada, chicken, al pastor, carnitas, lengua. I believe that is correct… Pretty good salsa selection as well, even though they recently started charging a dollar and a half for chips and salsa. We tried the beef fajitas one time, and were not disappointed. Came out sizzling as they should, and were cooked perfectly. Also, I tried the buffet once, and it was also quite good. I appreciate that rather than put out a bunch of sub par dishes, they choose maybe 5 or so well prepared dishes. The bar can be hit and miss but seems like its on the upswing. It’s actually been pretty good the last couple times I came in. Good drink specials, too. Oh, and sometimes they have live Mexican music. Acoustic guitars only, in my experience. This place actually has a pretty decent vibe on the weekends. Can get a little noisy, but not too obnoxious. All in all, a fun place to go with some friends, and gorge yourself on tacos without breaking the bank. Have a few drinks while we’re at it.

Went here for father’s day 2011. Didn’t know what to expect from the reviews. Some of the food was just OK, but most was«blah» to «yuck». will not return.

This is a nice little hole in the wall. Small but will suffice. Food: Not great, but good for the price. Just don’t expect alot for breakfast. Cooks are still pressing the snooze button so your food will reflect that. Lol Tacos are a bit yum when looking for a cheap meal while enjoying a nice drink. Customer Service: Is acceptable but slow. But then again what can you expect of a tiny restaurant? So they do what they can when they remember. Dave, one of the bartenders is really fun and always trying to accommodate people. But the bar is small so there’s never really anywhere to sit. Ambiance: Nicely decorated, perfectly dimmed lighting, a couple of flat screens and music always playing in the background. Collectively, the restaurant is a nice spot to meet friends during happy hour and affordable enough for everyone to have a good time. Just small and service is slow. But I’ll definitely return. Iguana Wana anyone? :)

This place was much better than I was expecting! The BF and I were here on a Sunday afternoon right after the buffet rush. Things had slowed down, and we were treated to the best Sunday breakfast I have had in a good long time! They had a 5 dollar breakfast special which I got and the boyfriend had one of their burritos. They were both amazing! Home made refried beans were heaven! Nothing on the menu was overly expensive, and the staff was great. Our waitress was personable and enjoyed her job. The owner(or owner’s wife, not certain) also asked us if we enjoyed our meals. All in all a very nice, very clean, and very delicious little restaurant where you would not expect it.

Went here with four friends last night… Two diners orderd the 2 for $ 12 dinner buffet… which includes decent but limited items. Probably closer to authentic Mexican food than the buffet line at HomeTown Buffet! They seemed to enjoy their meal. One person had a variety of the«59 cent tacos»…both the soft corn tortilla type and the hard shell variety. I can’t name all of the different types but they have tongue, beef, chicken, pork and a couple other types. For $ 5.90 you can have ten tacos…what a deal. Mexican food did not sound appetizing to me so I ordered the prime rib for $ 11.99. Comes with a great big yummy baked potato and some fresh grilled veggies. Here is a hint… if you like your prime rib and know good prime rib from bad, don’t order prime rib here. I ordered mine medium. It was a bit more done than medium but the bad thing, it was pretty much dried out. The prime rib actually looked and tasted more like a slab of some kind of steak. I should have known better than to take a chance on unknow prime rib. I am sure that prime rib is not one of their big sellers here… maybe even left over from the day before. Oh well, live and learn. They have some great chips and salsa here though. And we had live music that started around 8:30 pm. All in all, we had a great time… but next time I will probably stick to the tacos or the buffet!

Extremely warm welcome . My sons love the lunch buffet. I love the Chile rellenos they are home made from scratch not canned chilies i really appreciate the time and effort it takes to make them they are my favorite Mexican food . I really would like larger portions of salsa very small as a dip for you tortilla chips then its out and you need it for your food and its gone they will gladly bring you more its in a triple holder but each only holds a tiny bit . I like to sit at the little outside tables I bring my well mannered dog so its a excellent place to eat when your out and about with your pet and you can stop and eat, NEVERLEAVEYOUPETIN A CLOSEDCAR.

Suggestion — spellcheck… your website blew my mind …3 free minutes? Thanks! I’m gonna find somebody to take with me and give ‘em a real treat! Any takers… just email me…

Very impressed with La Iguana Wanna. Seriously. It is hard opening a restaurant… ironing out the kinks, working on the menu, satisfying everyone as much as you can. I ordered take out. But went in to take pictures and check out how they could possibly have improved the old home of Papapavlo’s. If you ever visited the old Papapavlos, then you would know that it felt like you were on the inside of a Gunne Sax dress… with a lot of brass and mirrors. If you don’t know what a Gunne Sax dress is, then imagine a bridesmaid dress from the late 70s, early 80s. My mom dressed me in that kind of shit in hopes that I would turn into some willowy, dainty lady… look at me now, mom. Those dresses did a whole hell of a lot for me, didn’t they? The décor is 1000% better. The bar is gorgeous. While I was there, I perused the very impressive menu. I’m not shitting you. It was almost overwhelming. Almost. I brought home a carne asada burrito(they call them ‘wraps’) dinner, a side of beans and rice, a philly cheese steak sandwich with a side of fries… they threw in extra tortillas, salsa. All perfectly packaged, piping hot upon my arrival home. Here are the pros: — the tortillas… I think they might be hand made — the red salsa was incredible — the beans and rice were probably the best I’ve had in a while — the service was outstanding — they remembered everything(napkins, sides) — I think my husband liked his meal… there was nothing left — the guacamole was very good… I don’t even like the stuff — the service was very impressive. I was being a complete pill and kept adding stuff to my order and the sweet girl never seemed annoyed. I would have been. Here are the cons: — chips were ‘Costco’ like — the tables are still kind of close together… while waiting to pay for my order, I felt like I was sitting in one of the patron’s lap — the green salsa was definitely not for me — my philly sandwich had nacho cheese sauce. Never had it that way… am accustomed to a white cheese on that type of a sandwich. But the meat was cooked to perfection. I must mention that the prices are a bit shocking. In a good way. This place is definitely a gem. There is a HUGE variety of items on the menu… seriously, there is something for EVERYONE. I will update this when we actually dine in.

Came in today,(6 – 16) and got a lunch order to go, Beef Quesadilla full order. Excellent, piping hot, 2 large, cut into 4 halves. Melty cheese, good rice and beans plus pico de gallo and 2 hot tortillas. While I was waiting for my order to be done was able to watch the staff take care of a pretty full lunch crowd. Easily handled. The place is in the old Papapavlo building, nice and bright and clean. will be back later this week for a full sit down dinner, but what I saw, it looks like it should be worth a return trip. Only minus was the a c Could have been cranked up a little, it was a bit warm in there.
