jimbos wild & crazy dogs

Stopped in today for lunch. First of all Semper Fi to you Jim! I asked Jim to decide for me and he served up an awesome meal! I can’t wait to come back to try something else just as tasty! I am happy to support a local veteran owned business. The quality and awesomeness of the food is 5 stars as well as the service!

Katie and I had both received messages on Unilocal from Jim, the Owner, after Casey’s closed to let us know there was still a great hot dog joint left in the city. After scouring the streets for parking we finally found a spot and made our way over to Jimbo’s for a great lunch.
They had a ton of choices and there was everything from sweet to spicy. The price for these gourmet dogs was spot on and the service was very friendly. I think next time I would call in my order and pick up some dogs to take back to work. Also, the drinks were a little more expensive than I thought they’d be. I remember grabbing a couple peach Snapples and noticing they were over $ 2 per drink, (I’m used to Genova’s 99 cent snapples)
Katie and I will definitely be back for the flavorful, giant hot dogs on fluffy soft buns. Great lunch stop, great hot dogs!

I went in around 2pm on a Monday and I was slightly disappointed, I thought they would have offered more in the presentation and taste category (also the buns tasted a little stale). Sadly, I had an old fashioned hot dog and by the time I finished it I didn’t see it being worth 4 dollars. In my opinion, Costco makes better hotdogs and for a much better deal. But don’t let my opinion stop you, you should judge it for yourself.

As a food connoisseur, who takes his eating experience serious… this is the best Gourmet Dog place I have ever been to. I consider it a gourmet Dog, because it is not just a hot dog, which they also have. The menu of dogs is unmatched by any dog place that I have been to, and not just in Stockton. The establishment is clean and well put together, and the food product is excellent. To top this all off… the owners are so nice and pleasant. Jim and Edith are two lovable caring people, who put pride in their work and business. This is definitely a gem of Stockton.

Awesome Hot Dogs! Today I tried the Mediteranean Dog and it was delicious! Not your normal hot dog. It was topped with tomatoes, red onions, kalamata olives, feta cheese… it was amazing! Nice location in Downtown Stockton. When you walked in the door I was greeted plesantly and given a sample of Kielbasa sausage. Now thats customer service! Their establishment is nice and clean and my children especially enjoyed their food! Wonderful place and I highly recommend trying everything!

Was looking forward to trying this new hot dog place that gets its meat from Lockeford. It had apparently been there for at least two months before I knew it was there and I work a block away. Jimbos is located just outside the empty greenhouse mall on the Main Street side. Ordered the Mediterrean Dog that had tomatoes, onions, olives, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, and dressing.
What made me rate at one star was when I saw what the preparer was doing. First the preparer was not wearing any plastic gloves. He did use a fork to place the ingredients on top of the hot dog. He then reached for a near empty jar of olives that had only two slices of olives left with his fingers instead of using the fork or spoon. I was starting to have misgivings about this hot dog. I decided that I would try it anyway giving the preparer the benefit of doubt that he did wash his hands. When I order a hot dog I expect it to be nice and hot. It was barely luke warm. The hot dog was $ 6.00. At that price I expected more of a wow factor. It didn’t happen. Don’t think I’ll be going back.

The Friday special is awesome, huge half pounder with any dressing your heart desires. They feature popular Lockford meat and serve many other items besides hotdogs. Such as coffee, drinks, etc. I am going to try their huge bake potatoe on my next trip. Today I yam happy.
