THEBOMBEST place in Stockton up to date. Mongolian Beef extra spicy and small order of bbq pork absolutely is something to die for! Owner knows how I like it every time. Never disappointed! If your looking for a mom and pop restaurant that serves Chinese food on the 10⁄10 scale, this is the place hands down!

I called in my order around 8:20pm so I can avoid the 15 min wait. The owner told me it’ll be ready in 10 min :) I got the Mongolian beef(I requested for no bell peppers, no celery, and mild spice level) on a bed of steamed rice. Deliciously marinated, perfectly spicy, tender pieces of beef. This might be my new go-to dish! It was still hot when I got home. I was surprised to find a veggie egg roll in my bag because the combos don’t come with it(thank you to the owner!). It was crisp, delicious, and not oily unlike other places. The owners are very sweet and I always get great service! I love that I can just call in and pick up my food :) Can’t wait to try more dishes from here! As noted in my tip, they’re temporarily closing starting May 21 and they reopen June 7. Don’t be that Unilocaler who leaves a 1 star review because a place is unexpectedly closed! You’ve been warned!

I frequented this place during my Stockton years and even though it’s been almost 2 years since my last visit, I still crave the Mongolian Beef! I’ve tried so many new places nearby trying to find a suitable replacement, but no one comes close! The prices were low and the portions were HUGE. Perfect for my college student budget! It was an extra bonus that the owners were both so so nice. The lady who works the register would always ask me about how my day was and how school was going. I MISSHONGKONGDELI!

This is probably the most authentic Chinese restaurant in Stockton, even though it’s more of Chinese fast food. The restaurant is located in a plaza near UOP, next to M and W Dutch bakery and tiger yogurt. There’s plenty of parking spots in the plaza so I wouldn’t worry too much about parking. Food: 3⁄5 I got the honey walnut shrimp combination with chicken fried rice and chow mien. The chow mien is a little bland m, and the fried rice was nothing too special. My favorite dish to order at a Chinese restaurant is a honey walnut shrimp, so I was pleased when the restaurant didn’t mess it up. Service: 5⁄5 I came here on a Monday afternoon before my class started and there were a few people ahead of us. The owner of Hong Kong deli was very friendly and warned us ahead of time that there would be a 15 minute wait after we put in our order. And as we were waiting for our food to come out, she would update us telling our food is almost ready. She would make small talk with most of the customers as we order or wait for our food. She told me that her daughters also attend UOP and one of them is actually named Shelly! She was pretty excited when she found out I had the same name as her daughter. Price: 5⁄5 In terms of the price, the food is very affordable! And they give you a huge portion, they’re really generous. For me, they piled the food to the top where it was nearly impossible for them to close my to-go box The food may not be the best Chinese food I’ve had, but the service does make up for it.

First time here based on the 4 star reviews. Friendly and great customer service. Came at lunch time when you expect to be busy. But it took forever for my order to come. Food taste good so if you are in a hurry… may not work out. Or it might be worth the wait.

Unfortunately I haven’t been here in a long time, but it was just as good as I remember! We got dinner to go: veggie fried rice and chow mein, general’s chicken and the vegetable delight with black bean sauce. She was kind enough to throw in some eggrolls(veggie!) as a bonus. We both had seconds and still have enough for a midnight snack and lunch tomorrow! We will definitely be back again soon!

The reviews on this place suffer from MAJOR grade inflation. Ignore those who gave this place 5 stars. I feel sorry for anyone who thinks this place is «as good as it gets»…they need to get out more. This place is just ok. Given it’s proximity to UOP, I can see how broke college students would like it. But it doesn’t measure up to any of the better places in town. The food: The garlic chicken isn’t bad, but Dave Wongs is better. The egg rolls are crunchy and have a little cabbage, but that’s about it. The potstickers are avg. The chow mein is below avg. Their noodles are super thick, like udon noodles(no I didn’t get the chow fun)…I’m not a fan. The mongolian beef is below avg. It isn’t that it’s bad, but it’s just mildly spicy brown sauce type boring. The best thing I had was the spicy chicken wings. They weren’t spicy hot, but they had a nice flavor(garlicky with Chinese 5-spice). The people are really friendly, but the place is small(and no bathroom). Bottom line: I’m sticking with the regular N. Stockton rotation — Peking, China Palace, Dave Wongs, Tsing Tao, Yen Du.

I ordered the chowmein Mongolian beef and the noodles were soooo fat and delicious. I def recommend this dish! It was really flavorful and just needed to be more spicy! Love it! The second dish I ordered was the tofu with chicken rice plate and I wasn’t disappointed either. For both dish it was o let $ 16 and so fulfilling. Def will be coming back here to try other things on their menu.

The lady who I think may be the owner is super sweet! Every time I come in she remembers my face and greets me sweetly. I usually get the beef chow fun without sprouts, because whenever I do get it with sprouts it’s way more sprouts than noodles. The owner also knows I love my food spicy, so she always hands me extra sauce. :) If you’d like a nice quick lunch go to Hong Kong deli! Their beef chow fun is very large so maybe share with someone if you don’t like left overs. Good food!

A Mom and Pop deli with a far east flair… A perfect spot to pick up that comfort food that is fresh and hot. This Deli is primarily take out but is ideal for local college students and those seeking a great meal at a reasonable price. I have been here a dozen times and the Mongolian beef combo is excellent and probably could feed two or one who is very hungry. Oddly, I lived locally here for 30 years and only learned of its existence in the last five. Better late than never.

Saturday night. It’s just me. Kindest, friendliest place ever! Owner gave me hot tea and a warm egg roll just to keep me warm while I waited. I miss customer service like this! Food was great and low cost. Resturant was very clean. They have reasonable party trays. I’ll be back for sure! Thanks for the recommendation Unilocalers.

Not only is the food tasty and reasonably priced, especially for broke students, but the owners are simply the sweetest. So sad that it took me forever to finally try this place out! Haha

Owners are sweet yet professional. Our first time in they welcomed us and our two small children, were helpful with our dinner selection, gave us ice water while waited for our food(it was a triple digit day), gave my eldest son a ton of fortune cookies to keep him from getting bored(or having a meltdown) and THEFOODWASAMAZING! Great food, service and prices. Can’t get better than that!

Solid place for Chinese lunch or dinner. I’ve been going to this place for years and I always order the same things. #2 with Spicy Chow Mein and Garlic Fried Chicken. Yum. Portions and flavors vary from time to time, but it rarely misses the spot! My only disclaimer is that the chicken has been irregular the last few times. Sometimes it’s burnt, overlooked or perfect. Just depends! But trust me, the batter is good! My favorite fried chicken when cooked properly. This is my go-to order 90% of the time. Simple, but delicious. Cheap too. Mongolian Beef over rice. ORDERTHIS if you want to be safe. It’s been a family favorite for as long as I can remember. No other explanation is needed. You can even adjust the spice level to meet your desires. The Beef Chow Fun isn’t too much to rave about. I’ve had it multiple times and it is not too memorable. My tip is to order in advance because this place always gets a consistent steady stream of customers. It doesn’t help that there’s also a university right down the street. Overall, I’d recommend this as one of my favorite gems in Stockton. I love coming here. Oh, and the owners are sweet too! Even though the place can get chaotic and busy(aka long wait lines), they are always on top of their stuff. Super friendly and great customer service.

Another one of those typical Stockton businesses that have a caveat: absolutely delicious Honey Walnut Prawns; Pretty good potstickers and rice. Ordinary everything else. Just the mention of HKD’s walnut prawns makes me salivate. Everything here comes out piping-hot and fresh. The prawns are crunchy and saucy with plenty of honeyed walnuts on a bed of lettuce. I couldn’t care less about lettuce but some people like it. A full order is 20 prawns for $ 9.99! You can also get a half order, how convenient. As far as quality, everything else is pretty typical Chinese take-out. Great prices, though! Potstickers are pretty good; they’re fresh and plump, pan-fried on the bottom only, 6 for $ 4.60. The BBQ pork fried rice is also pretty tasty and only $ 5.25 for a large amount. We’ve also tried the Garlic Fried Chicken and Sweet & Sour Pork Combo and it was alright. Chow mien was meh. Just get the prawns. You won’t regret it. Family-owned, super-friendly. They daughter is super sweet. The décor reminds me of a commercial fast-food chain complete with hard, bolted down furniture and bright colors, but hey, it’s take-out. Always clean. Weird thing though, they have the setup for food trays behind glass(like Panda Express) but never use it. It’s better this way, anyway, since everything comes out fresh, made-to-order.

I came here tonight about 30 minutes to closing. I don’t like coming to restaurants, deli’s or a fast food places. When it’s almost closing time. I know people want to go home and they’ll try to rush you out and you won’t get the best service. But not here, I received excellent service with awesome hospitality and a great dinner. Since it was my first time here i was looking kinda lost because, I was very indecisive on what to order. I told the owner lady, I just got out the gym and I was really hungry. She recommended the Green beans with chicken over rice. She told me, she eats green beans everyday, because it’s a great source of iron. Plus they’ll go good with the chicken for your protein. I was very impressed by this. Then we just talked about random things, until my food came out. *Note: I was the only customer* My food arrived and I had it in a to go box, because time was ticking. I didn’t get rushed at all, as I was eating and I’ll say I really loved the green beans. Very soft and yummy. The chicken was very tender and juicy and didn’t eat that much rice but it was good too. I just kept picking at the green beans. The owner lady and I were taking throughout my meal, I liked that as well. Good food and good company always go hand in hand. I had a beautiful experience here this evening. I’ll definitely be coming back. Vincent D …*VD* Life is Beautiful.

This place is a staple during my exams week and when I am in a time crunch. The owners are very nice because they have kids of their own in school. The prices are reasonable and good portions(yay for leftovers!). I personally like their combination plates when I am feeling indecisive. I always order beef chow fun and its good. A little more oil than I like, but I still always get it. Its conveniently located by school and open 6 days a week. If you’re waiting for your food, you can check out the Japanese shop right next door too. Lots of good snack items and a decent selection. Also HKD gives back and supports UOP fundraisers, which is great since they give back to the local school community.
