Worst place in Stockton. The owner raffled prizes to get on the Best of San Joaquin list, it wasn’t an earned title. I was there, I saw it all. The kids progress in belt level really fast without learning much. By the time they’re black belts they still perform as white belts. They take their most athletic students and show them off as if they were the ones who made them athletic when in fact those athletic students would perform well anywhere. The Price far out weighs the value. You think your getting a fair deal at first, but prices increase as belt level increases. You start at $ 65 monthly if your 5 years old with additional belt testing fees every month or two until your like 7, and then you end up paying almost $ 200 monthly per student at the higher belt levels. Belt testing fees are also horribly over prized. Between $ 200 to $ 500 just to test for the upper belts, and I hear it’s increasing to $ 500 to $ 1000. Yes, that’s aside from the already high monthly fee of about $ 200. Take it from me, I felt scammed in this place for a long while until I was tired of being worked over by BAD business. There’s far more affordable martial arts studios to go to in Stockton, like over 2 dozen. Don’t let the owner of this place or any place cheat you out of your well earned money.

My eight year old has progressed rapidly in his karate class. I would love to have him test, but it is very costly. For now, he is remaining a white belt until I get a raise, lol! Staff is friendly and great with all of the children.

Flahertys Kenpo Karate is a good place to bring your kids to learn discipline, respect and how to become mini Cobra Kais ala The Karate Kid. Ok, wait– that may not be a good thing, but Flaherty’s Kenpo Karate IS. Randall Flaherty has been teaching Kenpo Karate for 30 years. He started his karate school in it’s San Jose location 13 years ago and has been in this Stockton location for nearly five years. His patience with the children may just border on infinite(mine however does not). And his staff is friendly. Flaherty’s Kenpo Karate does not require you to enter into long term contracts, and their pricing is very reasonable. You can even bring your child in for a free class to see if it will be a good fit. They offer classes for all ages. Right now my daughter, who is five, is in the«Tiny Tigers» class, and my son, who is seven, is in the beginners class. Both children go twice a week. However, there is a three times a week option, and make up classes on Saturdays. In addition, you can also get private lessons. They are closed on Friday and Sunday. Overall, my family is having a good experience here, and I do recommend it to others.

This place is great, especially for my 5-year old nephew! Wow, has he learned a lot! There is a lot of discipline and training, but he keeps it fun and exciting for the kids and he understands that not everyone can always have a perfect day. Prices are very reasonable and his wife/Office Manager is always very friendly and helpful.
