I am a contractor and we were doing a large project in Walnut Creek for a home owner. Based on the recommendation of a buddy of mine, we called in Green Home Solutions for a bid on doing HVAC work. I work with a lot of subcontractors, and I have been a subcontractor many times, so I know it’s not an easy job. They came out on very short notice and gave me a very competitive bid for the work. Their tech guy who came out(I think his name was John), gave me a lot of advice and information about the efficiency side of our remodel and didn’t try to fly out of there once he had the info he needed. I was impressed by his knowledge and offering an extra hour of his time at no charge. We hired them to do a fairly complicated new furnace and duct system. Their crew showed up exactly on time each day, worked very hard in a painfully difficult crawlspace, and left the work premise very clean. Even though their price was excellent, they didn’t seem to skimp on making sure the job was done right. The proof of their efforts came from the«test out» which is where they use a blowing machine to measure how leaky the new system is. It was at 4%, which is very tight.(as is is supposed to be). Client was super happy. OVERALL: Great price, Great service. Highly recommend these guys.

My story almost identically matches the one of Davel L. I also got a nice report. The team discovered lack of insulation above my kitchen and offered to update the blow-in insulation in my attic for several thousand dollars. I finally went up there and discovered plenty of insulation, except around where an electrician had installed the recessed ceiling lights — he had missed to restore the insulation. It took me a about 30 min and $ 0 to fix the issue and now I don’t have cold spots on the ceiling anymore. I did buy their«basic weatherization» package though, which helped save about 170 cuft of air leakage. But all they did was install new seals on the exit doors and also seals to the visible switches and power outlets on the walls. Not a great value for the money spent — this is a 4 – 5 hour job most folks could do themselves.

Pleasanton was running a program to help residents make their homes more energy efficient. Green Home Solutions was the assigned contractor who, for a fee, would assess the homes and make recommendations. We signed up hoping to find areas where we could save energy and money. They came out as planned, thoroughly assessed our home, and produced a nice report. Their team was pleasant, knowledgeable, and thorough. As it turned out, our home is pretty energy efficient and while there were some areas for improvement, they did not really justify the cost. We were happy enough with that result although it did not help with the rising PG&E bills. Here’s the irony(and warning)… I just discovered that the Green Home team left the light on in the attic. The incandescent bulb was burning 24×7 since November 2011. :-)
