I go specifically for their wonton soups. I love the broth and they are generous with their wontons and they aren’t little bitty wontons either. Shrimp, Wah or War won ton soups are good. My go to place for won ton soup. they have both chinese and american food. American breakfasts. Old diner feel out in the industrial area. Before the highway 99 bypass the place was always busy and they were open 24 hours. The service is very friendly. It would be great if the place was restored on the inside and outside.

Got a reference from a friend on this diner/restaurant that has been here for a long time. Décor is dated but it is in the midst of the industrial commercial part of town. Had the hamburger combo breakfast including coffee for $ 7.25. While you can’t complain about the price the quality is suspect. Hamburger was fine but country potatoes were not seasoned with large chunks of onion and bell peppers thrown in for the appearance. Asked for the country gravy and biscuit and I wasn’t sure if the biscuit was fully cooked but the gravy was bland and cold. I actually left somewhat hungry although it may be due to a loss of appetite. Sadly, I cannot recommend.

The waitress Bobbie Kelley is one of the best servers around… very attentive and always on the ball. She can recommend the best items to order, first rate.

It’s a small hometown diner that really has excellent food & great prices. You will not be disappointed! I tried both the American & Chinese food & both met and exceeded my standards! GOTHERE

My first impression of this place was not good. In fact, I felt a bit turned off by the exterior of the Far East building. However, this was the only Chinese place open at 9am in the area so my family and I decided to risk it. The inside of the Far East Restaurant is way easier on the eyes than the outside. The chow mein and beef dish we ordered was good but it tasted and looked different from anything that I’ve ever had from other authentic Asian restaurants. Almost as if someone was using a home recipe or one of those knock off recipes that taste just like«insert popular food item here». The fried rice was great! If we ever randomly make our way back to the Far East, I would order the Hunan chicken or from their breakfast menu because of the good reviews. Summary: Cheap! I don’t think they have any plates over $ 7 and they give a very generous amount. You will get full! Some unpleasantness. The outside of the building looks so rundown that some people I know would lose their appetite before ever stepping inside. Avoid if you don’t like to eat in dives but the inside(plus their bathrooms) are very clean.

We ordered the Express Dinner for 3 as takeout. I can’t say much about the atmosphere besides that it’s in the heart of Hookerville, Wilson Way — so if you like to ogle the ladies of the night this is perfect venue. All of the food was excellent! The special fried rice and special chow mein contained a good balance of a variety of meats and they weren’t at all greasy like too many other local places. However, the sweet and sour pork and Hunan chicken had a sauce problem. The sauce for the sweet and sour pork was at the bottom of the container, so only a fourth of it had the sauce on it and this had somehow congealed into one big piece that had to be broken apart. Nevertheless, it was delicious especially the parts at the bottom that had the sauce. The Hunan chicken had the same difficulty; the sauce was put on the bottom of the container — luckily, all you had to do was roll that bad boy around and use a spoon to coat it with that delicious goodness… it is THEBEST Hunan chicken we have tasted locally. We also got an order of the vegetables deluxe and it was seasoned perfectly and delicious. I will definitely return again for take out and I am excited to try the rest of the menu which I have been told is top notch through and though.

The food is average! The place is dated as are many here on Wilson Way. Families should probably avoid this area at night.

NOTE: Far East will be closed from May 3rd — May 25th! Another four star experience here… Melissa is the bomb! She is always so ‘up’ and cheerful. Good food, great value! I had the all white meat boneless Hunan Chicken with fried rice. Can’t be beat for $ 7 and change! Give ‘em a try!

Remember, you watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, right? Well this isn’t a true diner, nor a drive-in. But it is dive dining in the flesh — sketchy hood, old school joint. Cheap and plentiful portions — check. Breakfast served all hours — check Chinese specialties ½ to 1⁄3 price of wongs. –check ICE Cold Tsing Tao’s –check. Try the General’s Chicken or Hunan Chicken and you’ll be pleasantly suprised… they make killer bisquits also!

Best deep fried chicken ever! The Szechuan chicken and Hunan chicken(boneless) are the best deep fried Chinese chicken I’ve ever tried! I’ve tried a FAIR share of Chinese restaurants, especially in Stockton since I’m obsessed with hot & sour soup, e.g., Yendu, New Shanghai, China Palace, King’s House, Peking, Dave Wong’s, etc. Anyways, I lovee how the outside of the chicken is soo perfectly fried, not too crunchy not too soggy! Meanwhile the inside is so soft. best word I can think of to describe it is ‘heavenly’. Plus the price is cheap! Their hot & sour soup is OK, I prefer them not put the red pork in there(it is not conventional hot & sour soup, it doesn’t even have bamboo in it), it sorta ruins it… but it is ‘good enough’ for the price, the chicken makes up for it.

No visit to Stockton is complete until I have had a plate of biscuits and gravy from Far East. They are so light and fluffy, more like biscuit cake. Get the gravy on the side and slather one of the biscuits with butter and jam. Amazing. The breakfast side of the menu is pretty standard… pretty good but nothing unexpected(except for the glorious air biscuits, of course) Hearty Man special is a great deal. Lunch and Dinner plates are good– again tasty but predictable. Minus one star for a terrible Patty Melt. Super greasy and the cheese was grainy. The waitress did replace it with another item(biscuits, of course) no questions asked AND didn’t charge me at all. As far as the Chinese side of the menu– It is Americanized Chinese. The perfect cure for Fine Dining Fatigue. Sometimes a girl just needs to get down with some Chicken in Foil. Waitress are great, friendly but no fuss.

Ok first off do not come here if you are a clean freak. This is an old outdated restaurant that has like newspaper wallpaper, Weird I know. It definitely needs a good update and cleaning. But if you can get passed that then come here, You will get a cheap and tasty meal. My son likes their hamburgers and breakfast. My husband and I like their chinese food. It seems like everything on the menu is 5.95. OK when was the last time you paid that much for something!!! I would have given this another star for the food being good but it still needs a good cleaning. Oh yeah and my sister says she likes the food but its very depressing to eat in an old depressing building with customers who look depressing too. Just saying.

It may not be the nicest looking place to eat in but it is very good. You can’t hardly find a breakfast anywhere for the inexpensive cost. They try hard to please. Breakfast, Chinese or American what ever you may like. Very large menu. Waitresses are nice too… Give it a try

I guess once I frequent a place to eat, I eventually settle on just one entrée to order… such is the case with Far East Restaurant with… On the menu today… Hearty Man Breakfast(*** ½ $ 6.75) Fresh ½ Pound Burger Steak, 2 Farm Fresh Eggs, Hash Browns, Toast. The last time I was here… everything was on an eight inch round plate… now it’s oval… of course I’m going to get less. Hash Browns(*** ½) and White Toast(***) and Coffee(*** ½). Glass of Coca-Cola(**** $ 1.20) Waitress gave me a Pitcher to work on. Many fill-ups of Wah-Wah. Service(**** ½) Had a Pitcher of Water, Mini-Pitcher of Coke, and at one point the Coffee Container from the Coffee Maker at the table… Total: $ 8.88 — Quite a bit more satisfying than my last visit to McDonald’s, where I ordered a Breakfast item for $ 4.39… and it looked like almost… NOTHING! Still follow the precautions I mentioned in my previous reviews. When dining at the Far East, it pays to be a fastidious«Clean-Freak». Change in hours on Sunday — 8:30am — 2pm.

When ever my husband and I visit friends in Stockton, we try to make it to the Far East Restaurant for breakfast. They’ve been around for as long as I can remember, and the menu hasn’t changed much either. Newbies should try the breakfast menu, they’ll be pleasantly surprised. The Hearty man Breakfast, after all these years is still a great meat for the money. We’ve only eaten breakfast here so I can’t comment on other menu items like the Chinese food etc.
