Thomas Ford Dealer

So I walk in the front door. I am immediately greeted by a young man. Kudos to him for being the only person to make eye contact with me. I tell him I’ve sold a competitor’s brand before and I came to see how the competition stacks up. He asks what cars I’d like to see. I give him a list of four different types of vehicles. He says, «I’ll grab the keys.» Excellent. I tell him I’ll be checking a car out that is parked right outside the showroom. «Okay.» He comes out and tells me he’s unlocked [this car], [that car] and [the car over there], all four of them. He then returns to his office. «If you have any questions, come back in and let me know.» «Unorthodox,» I thought, «why wouldn’t you want to follow me around and try to talk me in to converting to your brand or to at least get me interested in buying?» I accept that I will be taking this quest into the unbeknownst-​to-​me land of Thomas Ford’s lot. Alone.
I approach the first car. Locked.
I venture out to the next vehicle. I check it out (minus anything electronic, due to the keys still being inside and me being without my landline, which was that salesman).
I continue to the next vehicle, a truck, gave it a good look-​over and took note of a few questions I had, still wishing he was right there to answer them and show me how things work, all of these buttons being totally unfamiliar to me.
I drearily stumble up to the final vehicle of the four he unlocked. This was one I was particularly interested in as it appears, on paper, to have potential to be ‘better’ than the car it compared to that I sold in the past. Locked. Again.
I only saw two of the four vehicles I wanted to see.
I went back inside, approached him at his desk and presented him with the questions I had noted. He promptly informed me that he had only been working there for about a month. A month, I assumed, was more than long enough to learn a thing or two about the cars you’re selling. I learned otherwise today. None of my questions got answers. Instead I was instructed to get on the Thomas Ford website in order to find answers.
The salesman I was working with left his desk to get more copy paper. He didn’t go far, so I continued to talk to him, asking him to find another fact, the towing capacity of the truck I looked at, saying «I want to compare it to [Competitor]‘s towing capacity. Before he can respond, another salesman, walking behind where I was sitting, responded to my question with this: «That’s not how we do it here. If you like the Ford, you buy the Ford. If you like the [Competitor], you buy the [Competitor]. That’s it.»
Surprised, I calmly replied, «oh.»
That salesman walks away and the first salesman returns to his desk. «I don’t know what the towing capacity is,» he says, «you’ll just have to get online.»
«Can I ask you something about [car]?» I said as I began to stand up, expecting him to follow me outside to answer my question.
«I don’t have time, but here’s that vehicle’s VIN. Type that into our website and you can find the information there.»
Let down, I replied, «Alright. Thanks for your time.»

This place is a pitiful excuse for a Ford dealership. Every experience I’ve had there has been awful and I cringe when I think about having to go there for any reason, mostly rapid warranty repair on a vehicle.
Their parts department is a complete and utter joke. They never have anything in stock, even as simple as basic oil filters. Not to mention the fact that by going to their parts department and asking for parts is a MAJOR inconvenience for the guys working behind the counter. Once they determine which one HAS to help you, the interaction with any of them has always been less than stellar.
Service is also equally terrible. Uneducated service techs and writers.
Sales, honestly can’t speak for them because I’m so disgusted by their parts and service, I have no inkling to spend any of my hard earned dollars on a vehicle from them knowing what a disaster it would be to have service performed or to purchase parts for it.
We’ll proudly bring our Ford vehicles with competitor dealer’s decals on the back for Thomas Ford to stare at. Much improvement in quality of service work and parts service to be desired.

This is such a great place to buy a car! Both brothers, Earl and Brooks (the dealership is totally family owned and operated) we’re so nice and helpful. It can be daunting buying a car at a dealership, but they were so nice and relaxed, I never felt pressured. They made negotiating price a no hassle deal, I even got a $ 500 Ford rebate for being a student! I would highly recommend buying a vehicle here!!! I look forward to taking my car in for regular service at Thomas Ford.
