The service was great but food was overpriced and overdone. Trying way too hard to be unique and trendy with the dishes making them too complicated and tasteless.

If you’re walking around Main St. or planning to take a day trip to Stillwater with friends, The Green Room is a great lunch destination. Although parking may be difficult, it is worth the couple dollars or few extra blocks of walking. The place has great service and really nice servers. The modern and genuine atmosphere provides a nice place for sitting down with friends & family. The menu is very diverse, providing a variety of cuisines that will not disappoint you with its strong, delicious flavors and colorful presentation.(see photos) In fact, if you are someone who consciously supports local production and small business, most of the Green Room’s fresh ingredients are supplied by local farmers.

Perfect location for lunch. We sat on their rooftop and enjoyed the view of the St. Croix. It was a lovely day! Service was friendly and fast. I ordered the Grilled Salmon which was delicious. I’m definitely coming back here.

After walking in and checking in on Unilocal at multiple places then finding out wait times were an hour, and me getting crabby, we finally settled on the Green Room. It was not a disappointment. The menu was a bright green color too. Sort of obnoxious… like me at times I suppose. I loved the décor, modern with exposed brick, and warm tones. Very comfy. It’s narrow with the bar on your left and seating all throughout. It looked like there was loft style seating too. Our server came by quickly with water and gave us some time to look over the drink and food menu. She was great throughout the entire meal. All the servers seemed happy to be there. We ordered a couple of small plates to share, the salmon wrapped scallops and Indian taco, then an entrée off the grill. 9 ounce steak, medium rare, with grilled vegetables and corn bread side. Scallops were okay, I was hoping for more flavor, plate looked awesome. The Indian taco was where it was at! It didn’t look like much. I was worried there was too much shell. Turns out I couldn’t get enough of the shell. Fried to a thin tasty crisp. The Indian sauce inside was a flavor explosion in my mouth. Oh yeah! Our steak was cooked to temp and the chimichurri sauce it came with tasted fresh. I didn’t care much for the corn bread, kinda dry, but the veggies had that perfect char to it. I ordered the fried tiramisu for dessert to finish of the meal. loved it. Came with ice cream, who doesn’t like ice cream? All in all, a great experience, a teeny bit spendy, but I’ll come back.

My lovely new lady, a 4th-generation Minnesotan who grew up in Stillwater, recommended this place and was able to get us a reservation here on the weekend of Valentine’s Day. It was an awesome choice. It’s located in one of those«been there forever» brick buildings in downtown Stillwater. As busy as it was, we were seated immediately, and the waitress was prompt with our drink order — a bottle of a nice pinot noir. She was prompt and attentive the entire evening, despite how busy it was. We burned almost 3 hours here. Everything here is made from scratch with fresh ingredients, and you can definitely tell. We both had the Minnesota Salad and a crab cake, and both were fantastic. Tasty and satisfying, but you didn’t come away from the meal feeling like you had to run a marathon to undo the damage. Even on Valentine’s weekend, it was a pretty casual, fun crowd that ranged from«dessert will come elsewhere» couples to entire families just out for a nice meal. Really a fun place. No fault of the restaurant, but this IS downtown Stillwater, so plan on 10 minutes to find parking and check in, especially during peak dinner hours.

We reached here after biking for 30 miles and had to do 30 more to reach home back so we needed a good food. This place is exactly what we wanted. We had Hummus and Baba Ganoush, Caprese Skewers, Naan Dough and Pita bread. Everything was well cooked. Ambiance is really nice. Staff is friendly. They should add some more local beers in the menu though. Also should add more restroom.

I came to Stillwater with my husband to getaway from the city. We chose this restaurant based on the reviews. The service was good but the food lacked spunk… We started out with the Duck breast for appetizer and it didn’t even taste like duck. It tasted more like rubbery pork. I’ve had stellar duck before and I couldn’t even recognize the meat here. It seemed they did not use fresh meat today. Our next dish we shared was the mushroom gnocchi. Although the flavoring of this dish was good, it was salty. This dish could have been a great dish but the gnocchi was over done and it was over salty. Final dish we tried was the Manchengo Almond Walley. #1 disappointment was the fish tasted frozen and not fresh. The almonds were burnt. The vegetables were underdone. The whole dish just tasted like it was drenched in butter. Not a very unique flavor… As good as the service was, we were not impressed with the food.

Our waiter was super nice — however my drink did not arrive as I had ordered it and that is a no-no with me… I am Ms. Diva-bitch about my cocktails and when they are over 10.00 i feel I have the right to be. This ain’t no VFW — The atmosphere is weird. Grey/Green flat painted walls that look like new construction and no pictures or décor — put some life on the wall please. They also have throw pillow along benches on the brick wall and that is cool and all but I have to wonder what a Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvine would say about the sanitary condition of that?! It does freak me out a little. I got some gnocchi and they were excellent. I would have liked a different sauce. I did sub the sauce it came with for a cheesier sauce but the little bits of prosciutto in it were like hard bacon bits… not really appetizing. Our flat bread was okay… and my friend got the«wet» beef sandwich — i just could not do it with a name like that and I’m sure Moist beef is not any better – come up with something different. I had a very strong taste of smoke so a little goes a long way… My other two friends seemed to love love love the salmon sandwich and the walleye. They declare this a five star place but I’m just not sold! Opinions are like assholes-everybody’s got em’.

This was truly a «find» — we were so pleased to have stumbled upon this place! After a day of hiking in the area, we decided to grab a late lunch in Stillwater. Our plan was to walk and just find something that looked good. Green Room’s menu looked promising so we decided to give it a go. We were NOT disappointed. I have to admit that the menu is a bit confusing. It’s distracting to have pizzas and curries in the same menu, but somehow they make it work. We had the chèvre pizza and one of the curries and they were delicious. I would highly recommend trying both types of items. We started with the hummus and that was also completely on-point. Bottom line: though the menu has a lot of seemingly unconnected items, we tried three distinct dishes and they were all delicious. Don’t be put off by this«disconnectedness» — the service, the presentation, and the flavor and were all amazing. Go to the Green a Room if you are in Stillwater!
