I’ve been here a few times over the past year. The interior is very nice and chill. The food is delicious. Ive only had rolls and sesame chicken but it was the best I have ever tasted. Ample parking in the front. You’ll definitely enjoy your meal. Knock a star for being a bit pricey!

This is by far the best Asian food I’ve ever had… EVER!!! I’ve been here several times and I’ve never had a bad meal! My favorite thing here is their Shrimp fried rice(which I ask them to make spicy for me), the shrimp tempura rolls, the lobster tempura rolls, the rock shrimp, the fried shrimp shumai and their Pad Thai… I’ve also tried their habachi dinners and those are great too… You will not be disappointed … Oh wait… How can I forget the Plum wine… DELISH!!! You will leave here full, happy and planning when your next trip back will be!

I would rate it 2 ½ stars if I could. The food was good and the presentation was nice but the service was terribly lacking. Our total order was 2 apps, 1 soup, 3 rolls, and one entrée for myself, my wife and our 4 year old. Shumai was one of our apps and I’m pretty sure they don’t make those in the kitchen so why did it take 15 minutes to be served? Our 4 year old was even wondering why it was taking so long. While we were eating our other app and soup we figured that would be enough time for our rolls and entrée to be prepared. After we were done with the apps we waited another 15 – 20 minutes before we finally saw the rest of our order. We were seated right next to the sushi bar and my wife spotted what looked like one of our rolls but thought it was someone else’s. After 15 minutes my wife asked if the rest of our order was ready and they replied that they’re still waiting on the pad thai but if we wanted our sushi they could serve it! Our sushi rolls were ready and sitting on their counter all this time! Meanwhile, the wait staff just walked around. Mind you the restaurant was half full. They didn’t even check to see if we needed more hot green tea. I’m sorry although our meal was tasty it wasn’t enough for us to come back. Plenty of other sushi restaurants do a much better job at preparing delicious dishes and rolls and providing excellent customer service. It’s a shame that they gave us such poor service. Needless to say we won’t be coming back.

Though my friend and I opted for delivery the restaurant did not disappoint. I was pleased to discover that in addition to Japanese cuisine Umi Asian Fusion also offers really great Thai food. My pad thai was superb. The Miso broth was good but no bits of tofu or seafood. Still flavorful. Service was helpful and it took no time to pick up the meal. I like forward to eating in the establishment and trying some of their Japanese fare.

Best sushi on Long Island. The wife and I consider ourselves sushi snobs and we have finally found our«Go To» sushi place. Ken behind the bar and our waitress Tina were great. The angry dragon roll was amazing.

Food was fantastic. We had an array of appetizers and sushi rolls and it was all delicious. The tuna and salmon were fresh and flavorful. The gyoza was crispy on the outside and perfect in the middle. The beef negamaki was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. Prices were fair and what you would expect. Sushi dinner $ 20, 3 roll dinner $ 15 The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable would recommend this spot if you are in the area and looking for some fine sushi

Although the inside is beautiful, the service is absolutely horrendous. Not only have I ordered take out from umi numerous times, I have also been there on many dinner dates with friends and family. Needless to say, the waiters are extremely rude there no matter how often I gave them business. I, and my family, will never go here again. The staff: –is very disrespectful –gives warm water and gives an attitude when you ask for ice –seem miserable to be there –rush you to order your meal –try to take your plates away before you’re finished(constantly rushing you out) –makes you feel uncomfortable

Umi is Yummy!!! The drinks are really good, one of the best Lychee martinis I had outside of Manhattan. The rolls are fresh and they are pretty creative. I had the Angry Dragon roll and although I ate here last week, I am once again craving it and in all likelyhood going to head there once I finish this review. The service is great, the owner comes over and chats with you so make sure everything was fine, another dish I had was a salad with crabmeat and caviar, all I can say is WINNING!

The food was Fantastic, the service was not. The server was forgetful and rude and asked us more than once if we were finished. Soda’s arrived canned with a glass of ice and the drink menu was taken away right away although we were interested in finding out of they had beverages other than soda and alcohol such as thai tea but the server did not give us the courtesy. It seemed as though they were short staffed for Saturday night. The sushi was fresh and those of us that ordered off the cooked menu were very pleased as well. It was quite expensive, way more than I had planned for our party of four plus a tip for our server that really didn’t deserve as much as was given. All in all, the food was excellent, it’s quite expensive and the service was subpar.

This is my go to sushi place near my new house. This place suits everyone in my family who doesn’t eat sushi. Their other dishes are also quite good. Pricey!!!

I decided to give this place a shot, however I am not a fan of the«Asian fusion» type restaurant. If you are looking for authentic, this is not the place to go. It is very pricy and I didn’t find anything special about the food

Ive never really explored the whole menu but thats only because we have a few favorites that we crave specifically. Especially the angry dragon roll and american dream. The spicy tun and spicy scallop roll are also high on my list as well as anything they serve with duck.

I’ve been looking for a new sushi/Asian fusion restaurant for some time now and this is definitely the one. The service is great and the staff is very accommodating. As for the food, I’ve been there twice so far and everything I’ve tried has been excellent — each time I’ve tried different items. The atmosphere is wonderful and good for singles, couples, and groups. Can’t wait for my next visit!

The prices are reasonable, the staff is helpful and the interior is nice. For a small, suburban Sushi/Asian-fusion restaurant, it is pretty good. Ultimately, I find myself visiting Umi for lunch every few weeks.

Great local sushi joint that has classy and modern feel inside. Sushi is always fresh and they do great job with presentation. Sushi chefs are nice and will answer questions if you are curious about the art. Highly recommend

Checked out this spot on a Friday night for a date night. It’s a modern Asian fusion restaurant. We started with their drinks. The lychee champagne and bahama mama were both delicious. We had two speciality rolls and a philadelphia roll with avocado(apparently that’s how they are served now, never officially go the memo). The American Dream Roll with tempura shrimp and avocado inside, with spicy crabmeat outside was a delicious warm roll. The cold Jericho roll with lobster salad, shrimp, crabmeat, salmon, tuna, mango & cucumber inside wrapped with rice paper and, served with spicy sweet sauce was really good as well. The service was excellent. The servers were helpful and patient and the food was good. Cool new place to add to the local sushi spot list.

I love this sushi spot! I live for their lunch specials. 8.95 will get you two sushi rolls, soup, and and a salad. It’s more then enough, and they deliver so If you live/work in the area that’s a bonus! So far I’ve had the spicy tuna, and Alaska rolls; both divine! I’ve also had the yellowtail jalapeño roll, which I could’ve sworn that they used green pepper and not jalapeños(I’m NOT a fan of green peppers at all), and the shrimp mango roll– neither roll was anything I’d order again. The one thing that bothered me a tad bit was the fact that all the yellowfin tuna rolls are $ 1 more for the lunch special-and it’s not listed. This bothered me because for an addition $ 2 I could get a whole other roll. The lady called me back to tell me that it would be a dollar more, but I wish she had told me I could get a whole extra roll for two bux. Regardless the price is right and so is the food. 4 stars to Umi Asian Fusion!

I went to Umi last night with my family and was impressed to say the least. Finally, a great sushi restaurant has come to our neighborhood! From outside, Umi is unassuming and blends in well with the other shops on Covert Ave. The décor inside has a decidedly NYC vibe and the restaurant and bar overall feels more upscale than you’d regularly find in this area. In addition to the stylish furnishings, Umi was immaculately clean, the service was very attentive and the employees were knowledgeable about the food. The presentation of the food was lovely, from the ice sculptures that the sashimi dinner was served on to the orchids that adorned some of the dinner plates. We tried the Rock & Roll appetizer($ 13), which was a stand-out for me, as well as the Tuna Tataki($ 11), which was also excellent. I am ashamed to say that I did not order my own sashimi, but chose to sample some of my family’s raw choices instead. I opted for the Pad Thai with Shrimp($ 15) for my entrée and was not disappointed. Everything we tried, from the shumai to the eel rolls, was delicious and tasted extremely fresh. I complimented my meal with some hot sake($ 8) which was easily enough for two people. We somehow managed to save room for dessert which included Mochi(red bean and green tea) and fantastic Tempura Ice Cream(vanilla). We had two alcoholic beverages, one soft drink, two miso soups, four appetizers, four entrees and three desserts for $ 162 including tax. I felt like that was reasonable for what we got.
