Terrible service; the bartender(whom my husband saw behind the bar three weeks prior) had no idea of the menu, specials, or liquor available(had to ask a fellow patron within earshot if Rumpleman’s was a drink or brand). My Chicken Ranchero came to me without ranch or a pickle(so did my husband’s), and upon requesting one, the bartender disappeared to the back, brought back the communal ketchup and mustard, then proceeded to dig pickles out of the container with her fingers and place it on our plates. And to top it off, I found a hair in my sandwich. I would have a bit of sympathy/compassion for the situation if they were packed, but we were two of SIX people in the entire venue. With the realistic threat of measles and the flu, DONOT eat there.

You don’t need to be a fan of Ronnie Milsap, Crystal Gale, or Hank Williams to enjoy the fish fry at the Middletown Tavern & Grille — but it helps. This tavern is a throwback(in all the good ways). Their Friday Fish Fry is among my favorites for the combination of food at atmosphere. You can get Cod, Perch or Walleye. Fried, broiled or cajun spiced. The best bet is the seafood platter that also includes your choice of shrimp or scallops for less than $ 13. The coleslaw is homemade. The marble rye bread is thick and soft. You can get fries, baked potato, twice baked or sweet potato fries. The restaurant area is clean & family friendly. Since the Middletown is located across the street from Belt’s — save room for ice cream if you’re dining with the kids. It’s the perfect bribe for their best behavior. We also tried the BLT with chips. No regrets.
