Giant Food

OK, if it wasn’t the closest grocery store I wouldn’t come here.
One time I asked someone where something was? «it’s in the back (like back of one of the aisles).» I thought the guy was going to walk over there and show me. But no that was the answer.
Second, I had a business meeting and I bought bagels, muffins and other few things and put them in individual bags. She squeezes the bag, and put them under the juice bottles I bought. So I am trying to fix them and put them on top so they don’t get crushed. She laughs and tells me, «It’s all going in your stomach» I said have a good day and walked out.

I’m trying to find a positive thing to say for this review but… I don’t know… oh! Staff is kinda nice!
First, the produce is in terrible condition! Everything was basically rotting or wilted. All the avocados were all mushy. Tomatoes were mushy and molding. The lettuce bags /​packs were wilted and starting to have the gross juice on the bottom. The sweet potatoes usually take a while to get old… but these looked reallllyyyyy old.
The rotisserie chicken was placed in the fridge section. I’ve never seen that before. And the one rotisserie chicken that was in the hot section, I think someone got hungry and lifted the plastic cover and took a piece of the drumstick! Gross!

The pharmacy at this place is horrible. Very irresponsible people working there. They never have our prescriptions ready.

Normal grocery store. It’s difficult to track someone down when you want stuff from the deli. The early morning is best time to go easy parking and quick through the store. But it’s dark and you have to wait a few minutes sometimes for a cashier to show up.

I like Giant but don’t often shop at Giant and in particular this location as it can be a big ol pain trying to get out of the shopping center and the parking lot can get kind of packed too. They have a good selection of items and the store is clean. I’m also a big fan of their fresh salsa in the produce area. I generally only come to this particular giant during off times when the shopping center isn’t as packed.

**This review is solely to compare with the Elden St. location.**
I am currently kicking myself for wasting so many shopping trips at the Elden street Giant and avoiding coming here. The only reasons I avoided it were 1) parking and 2) i just knew where everything was at the other one. I absolutely cannot stand attempting to take a left hand turn out of Elden, and it basically cannot be done on a weekend… so I talked myself into trying this location out.
I will never go to Elden street again.
The differences in stores is crazy! The aesthetics are so much more pleasing. The shelves are spaced farther apart, the aisles are laid out in a way that makes MUCH more sense… although I had a difficult time finding a few things (where the hell is the cooking sherry?! I can’t find it any store! Put it with cooking wines!!!) I really enjoyed my shopping experience here. I love how done-​up the cosmetics section was.
My only complaint (so far) is the check out lanes. There weren’t nearly enough open, which is a problem Elden constantly has. I’m not sure why Giant Foods slack so badly on having enough lanes open, maybe it’s to cut back on employee earnings but it really sucks having only two lanes open when each person has an entire cart’s worth to check out. It ends up taking forever.

The cooking sherry is in aisle 5 with the vinegars.

This review is strictly for the meat department. Emad is fantastic!!! He knows exactly what he is talking about when it comes to different cuts of meat. He always offers to help before you have to even ask for it. Truly the highest form of great customer service. I love this store.

No self check-​out and never enough staff. There is never anyone available to help you find what you’re looking for. There are never enough cashiers. The check-​out experience is horrible.

Change in management. I have not shopped this store in quite sometime but just recently return to see no long lines and helpful employees. Produce fresh and great variety. Will return as a regular customer. Thanks giant for stepping this store up.

Long lines no matter when you go in and the cashiers can be very snarky (especially one named Vee, who actually scolded me when I tried to bag my own groceries in an effort to speed up the line). They definitely need to put more people on the registers and have fewer people hovering around the customer service desk doing nothing. Product selection is typical of Giant and store is clean.

Giant is a decent grocery chain. I usually like some others more, such as safeway. However, there is no safeway as close as this to my house and the safeways around here aren’t that great anyway.
This giant is the best grocery store in this neighborhood. I will always go here over Shopper’s which is in the next attached shopping center.
There is a good selection of everything here and prices are pretty normal.

It’s an OK location for the grocery store. I like it because it’s right down the street from my house, so it’s convenient to get some basics if I need. Their fresh veg selection is kind of poor, along with their meats and fish. However, their pre-​packaged goods are all there, so can’t complain about that. Service is usually not bad, and people are friendly enough. Not bad for a ho-​hum grocer.

I contacted Giant to give them an opportunity to fix their mistake. They thought if they explained why they weren’t willing to fix it, it would be ok. NOT. Giant ripped me off for $ 379.81. Don’t use Giant pharmacy.
