This bakery was recommended via a family member who drives from Warren to pick up his favorite polish goodies. We stopped by around 12ish, and there was only one person ahead of us. By the time this customer placed her order, four additional customers had arrived. One of clerks(elderly) seemed very rude, and totally ignored a customer who had a quick question. This particular clerk gave the impression she hated working there. She gave short curt answers to any customer that had an inquiry. My clerk was very nice, and patiently answered my questions. The bakery is small, however they pretty much may use of every inch of the store. One can find Polish desserts, prepared meals, and some groceries. The desserts were tasty, definitely home-made, and not very sweet. However, I’m told Polish desserts are known for their lack of sweetness. If you are seeking a nice Polish bakery with a 50⁄50 percent chance of good customer service, but nice homemade Polish dishes, and bake goods, this may be the Polish gem for you.

The store on Mound Rd is smaller then the store in Hamtramck wish they would duplicate the store in Hamtramck more but that’s just because it’s my favorite. Food here is delicious once you go you will be back.

I’m not sure whats going on here these days, as I stopped by on 3−4−14 for Paczki Day & yes I of course expected a line. [ there were only seven of us in line, while one cashier processed previous called in orders only, and no one was there to wait on the seven of us. ] So it gave me time to look, scan, survey the place. What I was not expecting was a very filthy — dirty –unkempt store. So bad that I left without making a purchase as did 2 people in front of me.

Old time polish bakery/deli. tried some fresh sausage and it was quite decent, not to chunky. Could have used a little more spices, but nothing a little horseradish could not cure. bought some perogis but have not tried them yet. Hope they will be as good as Jenny’s in warren, but time will tell.

Kocham ten sklep! I’m happy my sister lives near here, stopping in is very easy when I’m in the mood for something Polska! I’m eating my kapusta right now. Pierogi, the best store bought and closest to my families home made. I wish they had more of the selection they do at their Hamtramck store, but I’d bet money if I asked for something, with a time to pick it up, they’d either prepare it or bring it from Hamtramck. Very good store! Good prices too!

I will not be back. The man behind the counter was rude, and there is not much here. I think I will head to Hamtramck!

Stopped in here today on lunch to pick up some pierogies after reading a few reviews. When I walked in I was immediately turned off. The display cases were nearly empty. There were a few full size cakes, but not the selection of grab and go treats I was hoping for. I told the very pleasant woman working the counter that I wanted a dozen mushroom pierogies. She got them bagged up and rung me up in a flash and before I knew it I was on my way. Came home tonight and made the pierogies for dinner and… well, they were awesome! The filling was plentiful and flavorful. I’ll be back for sure because, ultimately, it’s not about the atmosphere, it’s about the goods. And Srodek’s goods are good. They also carry a pretty big selection of pre-packaged imported polish foods, so if you prefer European soups, cookies, etc., you’ll be stoked at the selection.

Their store front may go unnoticed, but once you experience their paczki and pierogies you’ll be a return customer. Don’t make the same mistake I did, call the a few days prior to Fat Tuesday for your paczkis. They stop taking orders the Friday before. Great food, friendly customer service! I’ll be a customer for life at this mom and pop bakery!
