Chicken Tikka was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. For about the cost of a subway sandwich, you can eat well here. I’m not sure if this wrap would be recognized as a «traditional» Indian meal, but it was awesome nonetheless. The yellow garlic sauce concoction they give you to add to the sandwich might as well be called«magic sauce.» It’s just stupid good.

I’ve had food here a few times a while back and most recently catered from this place for my hs graduation party back in 2011. While I can’t give an assessment of how the quality has changed since then, I can tell you that the best deal now are the platters. They are like thalis or in layman terms, a sampler or assortment of an entrée that comes with naan(bread), rice, and two sides(listed on their front counter). Veg is 7.29, chicken — 7.49, and lamb 7.99. I had the lamb platter(rogan josh) and had a veggie samosa and raita as my sides. Once you pick one of the three you’d like, you have to look at the menu at see which veg, chicken or lamb entrée you want. There are multiple choices for each and I asked the cashier for his recommendation. Even though it seems like the portions are minimal, that is not the case. It’s comes on a rather large plate. There is an express location so it’s NOT fast food or a full-fledged buffet or dine-in restaurant with formal waiter service. Order first, it’ll take anywhere from 15 – 25 minutes depending on what you order and cashier will bring out food. Not a bad alternative to buffets though. I was able to finish mine and it still was sufficient. Might be a lot more to older adults but they give a generous amount for what they charge. They do have a vending machine which is self-serve whether you get water or fountain drinks and there is a salad bar with samosa chutneys, sauces, and other items that you wish. This is an establishment worth trying and if you like it that much, it’s worth catering as well.

Express??? We waited more than 25 minutes to get lunch and we were the only ones in the place. Food was simply not good. Soup was cold as it was sitting so long because they actually forgot about us as they were chatting in the kitchen. I had to go flag them down and they were very surprised… Chicken was very dry and burnt. Rice… Bland.

Love Rangoli! So easy to eat vegetarian with Indian food and Gobi appetizer and Navaratan Korma is my favorite combo! Biryani and Veggie Samosa are excellent too! You will not be disappointed stopping here to eat!

Food was great! Lamb was tender and a perfect spice. Rice was so fluffy. The young man who took care of us was very helpful and kind. On the downside the manager was talking to the employee out in the open about the things he was doing wrong, embarrassing to him and us. Should have taken the conversation in back. Even so I would go back.

I’m so glad I found this little place! It’s in a rather large strip mall off of mound and hall, and I never would have seen it if not for Unilocal.:) It’s a restaurant, but also does a lot of take out food. The worker was very friendly and helped my mom navigate the menu a bit based on heat and what flavors she liked. She got the Chicken Tikki Masala(chicken white meat grilled in a Tandoor and cooked in a creamy tomato sauce) and I ordered the Paneer Makhani(Cheese cubes cooked with herbs and spices in a creamy tomato sauce). We split a side of Cheese Kulcha(Naan like bread stuffed with herbed cheese) as well. It all came out relatively quickly and I was so happy with the taste of everything when it did. The medium spice was enough to make your lips tingle a little by the end of the meal, the bread had a cheese reminiscent of brie in it and had a delightful creamy texture. The chicken practically fell apart it was so tender, and the sauces were bursting with flavor. I can’t wait to go back again and again and again!

Stopped in with a coworker for lunch. It was both of our first times having Indian food. We both enjoyed a lunch special which included a meat, rice, and two appetizers. We found the food to be quite good and the staff was very helpful. The man at the register gave us a very detailed explanation of all of the different food choices. I had a curry chicken. My coworker had butter chicken. The place was not very crowded and the worker told us that lots of people seem to be intimidated by Indian food until they try it. We will definitely be back!

Food came out in good time. The butter chicken was good, but the chicken tikka was way better. Naan bread was really good too. May try some biryiani next time. Wish there was more Indian food around my area.

I’ve had some amazing Indian… admittedly not in India, but in California(next best thing). The best Indian is always so addicting I crave it weekly… the problem being that Detroit area Indian just isn’t quite as good. I was relieved and happy to find Rangoli Indian Grill Express in Sterling Heights. I passed by it several times without going in– it’s in a strip mall by the AMC Forum 30 movie theatre and looks less than appetizing from the outside. But one day I had a craving and entered, and now«Indian and a movie» is a coined phrase in my lexicon. My first order became my «every time» order. My movie buddy and I order the lamb wrap(with both spicy sauce and mint sauce, wrapped in a freshly baked naan-like bread!) and the chicken kadai, my usual Indian standby. My favorite part of their chicken kadai is the fact that they don’t give me the«American version» of spicy. There’s a real kick to both of these dishes, which have so many more flavors than just«hot» going on. It’s my new favorite since Ashoka changed owners a while back. Don’t let the looks fool you. It looks like fast food and claims to be ‘express,’ but in reality it’s slow the way a sit down restaurant is. Don’t go for atmosphere, go because once you taste it you’ll have it on your list of places to return.

First time I have ever tried this place. It’s about ten min from me and well worth the very short drive. I had the garlic naan based on what everyone suggested and it was no slouch. It was fantastic indeed. The bread is peppered liberally with garlic, a touch of parsley and little brushed with ghee to my delight! The butter chicken was fantastic as well. I ordered it medium heat and it was warm and wonderful. Nothing out of balance and the price was great for the serving sizes! It was very well appointed with chicken and so smooth and creamy with the sauce. Really a great eat! I also tried the meat samosas and they were very big! At least three huge bites if not give normal bites:) The place had lots of seating and was not busy on a Sunday evening to my delight. I ordered to go and it was ready before I was there to my happiness. Defiantly worth a try!

Stopped in here to get dinner with a friend, and it was really good. The service was very friendly, and the servings were a good size. Needless to say I cleaned my plate – and the homemade naan was the best. I’m looking forward to coming back.

I love the main Rangoli in Auburn Hills so I decided to give this location a try since it’s literally 2 miles away from my apartment. The items here are different than the other Rangoli, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I noticed their U-Pick lunch special was for dine-in only; $ 8.99 a plate for a meat, rice, naan, two sides, and a drink. Not a bad deal. However, I couldn’t find their lunch specials to go until I came back home and searched up their website. Today I ordered the Lamb Koorma, medium spice and rice included, with a garlic naan to go. The total was a little over $ 15; kind of steep for lunch, but I was a hungry gal. It took about 10 minutes for my food to be prepared and the server personally walked my food over to me on the couch even though I could have easily walked up to him at the pick-up counter. I was very impressed. I left a dollar tip and returned home to check out my food. Right away I could smell the garlic wafting from the foil that contained my garlic naan. I opened up the foil and immediately started salivating. The bread was fluffly, smothered in butter, generously topped with fresh garlic and chopped cilantro. The taste was indescribable. I was in serious nirvana. I then took a bite of the Lamb Koorma and again, my taste buds were singing with joy. The spice level, although I ordered medium, was not hot at all. In fact I think I may order it hot next time. Some of the lamb pieces were a little tough and chewy, but fortunately I like to eat meat with texture and some gristle to it. I can’t wait to come back and try their lunch specials and maybe dinner some time.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve never reviewed this smaller version of Rangoli of Auburn Hills geared to take out. I’ve ordered food from here several times over the years. It is excellent. Tonight, for example, I got what may have been the perfect Navrattan Korma(vegetables in a light brown creamy sauce). The Palak Paneer(spinach with little cubes of cheese) was also very strong. My onion kulcha(bread stuffed with onions and cilantro) renewed my faith in a dish that hasn’t been so good at other restaurants lately; it had lots of savory chopped onions. The people who work here are very nice. The food is consistent(mild is just what it should be — a touch of spice without overwhelming). Rangoli Express is a real winner.

This place has one of the best mango smoothies I have ever tried. The food is very fresh and the chicken tikka is excellent. If you like Indian food it’s a must!

I love the main Rangoli and this location is 4 – 4.5 stars for me. They have some of the same items as the other location but I love that the menu is different too. Here they have kaathi rolls here which was delicious«wraps»(I like the paneer wrap) with a nice mint chuntey. I think those are a good snack or lunch option. This location is more of a diner style environment too. It’s been empty at lunch often but busier at dinner. Service is kind of casual as well. It’s very different from the other location. For dinner, I liked the veggie pakoras(very oily but spicy with some of the sweet and sour chutneys being a perfect compliment) and they have affordable main vegetarian entrees at $ 8-$ 9 at the time. They have delicious crisp naan(bread) and cool raita(yogurt) at about $ 2 each. It’s very filling with a nice balance of flavors and plenty of leftovers. Ok I changed my mind and I’ll give it a 5 but I do need to revisit to make sure it has maintained its standards.

I came here today and ordered the Butter Chicken entrée, an order of Naan, and a Mango Lassi. I ordered the Butter Chicken with a mild spice, which was perfect — it wasn’t too spicy at all! I love the creamy sauce, which served as a perfect dipping sauce for the crispy Naan bread that I ordered separately. They give you two large pieces of Naan that are freshly baked. As for the Mango Lassi, I expected it to be sweeter, but it had a little tart taste to it. It tasted like they used greek yogurt in the Mango Lassi, but I can’t complain– it was still good, nonetheless! Other than that, I was very satified with my meal. The portions looked small, but it was very filling and I couldn’t finish all of it on my own! I had to take it home for leftovers later :) Will definitely return and am looking forward to try other dishes on the menu!

I just wanted to tell about my dinner I had from Rangoli last night(that I am now eating for breakfast this morning!) Butter Chicken — Was everything I had hoped it would be… creamy deliciousness! SOGOOD! Yum! Garlic Naan — Everything I had hoped it would be and MORE!!! Devoured that(none left for breakfast… boo) Masala Dosa — I was so hungry when I picked this carryout order up, that I had a few bites in the car… YIKES!!! I raced home so I could get me some more, along with the sambar & chutneys they provided! Loved this! It’s huge too… it’s for lunch today! I have to say, the Basmati I’ve had has been the best at Moti Mahal… It had a really nice, very light floral flavor. The rices that I’ve experienced at Rangoli, and New Delhi, seemed like regular white rice, but maybe it’s supoosed to… haha.

Had the family over, and decided to order carry out. Searched for Indian restaurants, this place looked good so we tried it. There were 6 adults and 1 teenager including 3 vegetarians. The bill was just over $ 80, and we had lots of leftovers. The Veggie Samosa and Mixed Vegetable Pakora were okay. Baigan Bharta, Aloo Gobi Masala, Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken, Lamb Seekh Kabab and Chicken Tandoori were all delicious, and the last two dinners came with cups of red curry to flavor the rice — yum! We also had two orders of naan and two of roti, also very tasty. When we checked out the person working made sure we helped ourselves to the chutneys — they were terrific too. The place is very hard to find. It is in a small strip mall hidden in the western shadow of Walmart. Now that I know where it is I will definitely go back.
