Great place for american cheap chinese lunch. Came here on a Saturday at 3:45, our server asked if we wanted the lunch or dinner menu. Glad we ordered off the lunch. They have a ton of combination lunches for $ 6.95. They all come with your choice of won ton or egg drop soup, fried rice, egg roll, baked bread roll, and tea! Hot and sour soup was extra. Came with fortune cookies too.

Food was delicious. Poor service, no smile or acknowledgement to our thank you. I would come back but only for the food. Not a place to come if you need cheering up. Good thing we only eat Chinese couple times a year.

Dining in: old school décor that could use some updating(no one likes torn seats). There is never a wait for dining in. Food is reasonably priced for the serving size; typically need a box to take some home. Standard condiments available– including yummy hot mustard upon request. Large menu. Many combination plates and they are flexible to switch it up. Hot tea comes with meal and doesn’t even need sugar! Credit cards accepted. Favorite to eat here is the sesame chicken(can adjust the spiciness level). All the egg foo’s are delicious. Crab rangoons –particularly eating in while nice and hot– are crazy good. Carry-out: Well… This place is HUGE on carry out which equates to busy which equates to poor customer service as there really is only one person handling phone orders. The staff is always the same: 2 ladies in front, the cook(s) and one owner guy who speaks no English as is always in the back. Of the two ladies in the front, only one speaks English sufficiently for these phone orders. If you get the other lady, watch out. Pretty much they expect you to already know your order when calling in– don’t ask for additions or deletions– and don’t ask questions about pricing. You better ALREADYKNOW and this is how they act. That said– take outs are most times ready in 15 mins. They wrap the food well, including soup. But boy if something is not right on your take out(has happened once in probably 25 take outs) and you call to get resolution– forget it! They aren’t wrong and couldn’t have possibly given you someone else’s order. And you can’t prove it cuz there are no numbering systems or even names to keep track of your order! Favorite place of ours for Sterling Heights/Warren area. Delicious food, plenty of it, good price. Just not always not enough people to handle volume of business in professional manner. Lunch combos $ 7 or less as of Sept 2015.

This is pretty much your standard Chinese place. About $ 8 for a combo, which gives you tons of meat and rice and an egg roll. The sesame chicken was super bland, which is even weirder considering it had the little symbol next to it on the menu to indicate that it’s spicy. It was the opposite of spicy, and didn’t really taste like anything. The crab rangoon was good. Their sweet and sour sauce is bright yellow, which is kind of weird, but tastes pretty normal. Summary: If you’re looking for lots of Chinese food but don’t really care what it tastes like, this is the place for you. If you’re looking for flavor, go elsewhere.

We have been going here for the last 20 years — gosh, seems like an awful long time! Overall, consistently excellent food. Can’t say we ever had a bad meal, but the service when ordering take-out has been known to be not as friendly as would be appropriate. They are accommodating though and will make your order into a combo plate if you ask. I cannot comment on dining in as we have only ever ordered to go.

I’ve been going to this place for 20+ years and the food is still as good as it was back then… but I’ve never been able to get a pick up order without waiting at the door for a minimum of 15 additional minutes(even 20 minutes after I called it in). They’re very rarely busy so I’m not sure what the problem is but it’s a shame to see service so poor when the food really is good. Even when we’ve dined in a few times, the older servers are not very attentive(and I’m chinese so I don’t think they’re biased!). I’d give them 4 stars but the pick up wait just makes me too peeved.

Pretty good food in a place that is in some serious need of remodeling. They haven’t updated the inside in about 25 – 30 years probably. The food was really good though.

Great Almond Boneless Chicken. You can tell the chicken is fresh and they don’t over bread it. The sauce taste one of the best I have ever had! Going back to try other dishes but price and quality is here so if your in the mood for Chinese, stop in and either get carry out or eat in…

Food was good cashier and the décor were old. I would rate the food a 7.5 out of 10. a message I would like to give to the owners is that you have to spend money to make money. That being said change the 20 year old look hire young waitress and hostess and please get rid of the old plates. That’s why I only do carry out.

Cashier was not pleasant at all. My server forgot 2 different items & also questioned me on why I wanted a side of plum sauce asking what I was going to use it for. When asking a simple question I was given attitude. Wonton soup & the crab ragoon was very blah. I will not be coming back.

Ho Wah is right down the street, so we decided to give it a try since it was snowing out and we wanted some comfort food. We were actually surprised by the décor of the restaurant; it was decorated in traditional Chinese lanterns, a huge framed bronze casting picture of a Chinese village and bamboo wallpaper. My description might sound cheap and cheesy, but this was the real deal. It was a very intimate setting. There were a lot of options on the menu and the prices were very reasonable. Each entrée was around $ 10-$ 11 and that included an egg roll, choice of soap and tea. The portions were also huge and we had plenty of leftovers. They also served us Hawaiian bread. I ordered the chicken and broccoli and my boyfriend ordered tofu lo mein. Both entrees came out in these cute tower dishes with covers to keep the food warm. Everything was delicious. Almond and fortune cookies were served for dessert. I’m a fan and will be back! I noticed a lot of people came in for pick-up as well. Mastercard or Visa only.

Ok 5 stars for a Chinese food restaurant. My favorite is the egg drop or sizzling rice soup, then for dinner the schezuan(spelling?) sub war with shrimp and scallops with fried rice. The almond boneless chicken is awesome too. Very clean and fast.

Entered with mixed feelings. Only 2 people in the place. It was clean, so we decided to try it. Glad we did. Good selection. Sodas were canned, but I’m ok with that. I got the General Tsao combination dinner. Came with egg roll, soup and fried rice. Nice portion. My chicken was so crisp on the outside, moist in the middle, sauce was just the right amount of spicy. My husband had the shrimp in lobster sauce, which he enjoyed. One small warning, egg rolls are shrimp egg rolls. I’m allergic, they substituted for a beautiful fresh rolled spring roll for 80 cents. Good find. We enjoyed.

This restaurant had amazing food. AMAZING! So why only 2 stars you ask? Well, in this industry service is everything, and Ho Wah has fallen way short. Last night I called to place a carry out around 9:45 — 9:48. The phone rang for what seemed like a 100 years, and when they answered they said that the cook had left. The cook has left? This is an issue of contention with me. If you say you are open until 10, that means you should be PREPAREDFORBUSINESS until at least 10, if not 10 – 15 minutes after that. It seems that many restaurants(and retail stores as well) ate following this model. You may have been able to do this 10 years ago or more, but with modern technology being what it is, helping people to find your store and telling them how late you are open, you should be sure to accommodate the hours that YOU advertise. Again, while I love their food, manners and service mean a lot to me, and with all the competition around these days, a smart business owner will teach their employees to use their head. That’s ok though, Mon Jin Lau received my near $ 75 order.

As far as local Chinese goes, this is one of my favorites. Dare I say it’s MUCH better than Kim’s, which is supposedly the best in the area? Everything tastes fresh and the restaurant is clean and the workers are friendly. Lunch is SUPER cheap! It’s around $ 5 – 6 for a meal including soup, an egg roll and rice. Can’t beat it for the money and I almost always have leftovers to bring home. One of my favorites is the Almond Chicken — it’s the best I’ve ever had. The crab ragoon isn’t the best though — a whole lotta fried breading and not much crab and cream cheese, so I wouldn’t recommend ordering it. Additionally, I’ve had to wait more than the 10 minutes promised for takeout, which isn’t a big deal, but just be warned — it could happen to you as well, so plan your time out accordingly. Overall, I love this place. When dining in, there is never a wait and the food always tastes great. Don’t let the unattractive strip mall location fool you, Ho-Wah is a hidden gem!

I must reiterate the amazingness of their rolls. They are so sweet and the tops shine like the tears in my eyes when I see them. They don’t give out regular menus at lunch time and that’s okay with me. $ 6.50 for a roll, egg roll, fried rice, entrée and fortune cookies is a deal. The wonton soup is sprinkled with napa and bean sprouts and the sauce that is served with the egg roll is a yummy sweet, tart, tangy orange sauce. The fried rice is pretty standard as are the entrees… really it’s those darn roles that have me coming back. The lunch combos on the menu claims to be served with tea but I have yet to see it.
