business partner and I went here for lunch. 15 people behind the counter and not one of them knew what the heck is going on. Made us go to the other side of the store to order that’s fine. We ordered at the same time. I received my food 19 mins after my friends. The girls that work there are extremely RUDE. you have a new concept and if someone is a first timer YOUHELPANDGUIDETHEMANDMAKETHEMUNDERSTANDNOTGETMADANDBERUDE. Too many middle eastern food around the area to go there and deal rudeness!!! Never will we go back

I will freely admit that my husband and I are not the exotic food lovers. But I love falafel and schwarma. We went to this restaurant about 4 o’clock on a Tuesday. The place is loud, really really loud. There are all sorts of machinery and refrigerators behind the counter running at all times, you can barely hear yourself talk. My husband ordered chicken kebab. It took about 25 minutes to cook the chicken kebab. Honestly, the chicken he took out of the refrigerator was already on a skewer and looked like it was already cooked. My husband told me it was very tough, no flavor and was full of cartilage pieces. He couldn’t eat it. I ordered the falafel. I misunderstood the lady who was trying to take our order. She was asking me what kind of bread I wanted and I kept asking her to say it slower because I couldn’t understand. She got mad and threw her hands up and walked away, came back with someone else. From then on the order process was extremely awkward as the staff treated us like we didn’t like them or something. As I was looking at the toppings I noticed that the area between the pans were filthy. The floors in the kitchen were shining with grease. While we were waiting for our food, I watched the cook eat as he was cooking my husband’s chicken kebab. He was taking chunks of chicken off a second kebab and leaving them with his fingers. No gloves. I won’t be coming back here, mainly because I feel like our health may be in danger. I don’t like giving bad reviews but I walk past this place every day when I go to the gym. It always looks the same, scouling women taking orders and the chaotic dirty kitchen

I’ve been to many fancy Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants. The Genie is on par with some of the best! There was a great selection of fresh… everything! Being able to see the selections had my sampling just about everything there. I loved it all! The staff was friendly and the place was very clean(even the bathroom). The prices are very reasonable. I’m looking forward to my next visit. My only criticism is that it’s not closer to my home. I’d be there very often if they were!

This was my first visit to Genie’s and I wasn’t disappointed! The restaurant was bright and clean; plus it smelled delicious. The staff is very warm and friendly. I ordered the beef shawarma wrap for lunch which came with soup and a bag of chips. The meat is perfectly cooked and spiced perfectly! I love the wide range of options to go on my wrap and know this will be my new go-to place when I want a good shawarma! The lemon rice soup is really good too.

It’s crazy to think people like this place. Worst shwarmas I’ve ever had, so plain and tiny! Never again! It took forever for the food, meat was too dry, and my sister said she saw flies flying all over the food. I was happy it was so close to me but I will not be returning! Girl at the counter was rude too

Nastiest Beef Shawarma you’ll ever eat in your life! How do people even rate this a 5 star? Are you insane? I’ve had Mediterranean food a lot and this is by far the worst I’ve ever tasted in my life. It was that bad. The beef shawarma wasn’t cooked correctly, the texture was terrible, and there was no seasoning at all. I took one bite and was chewing it and spit it out in the garbage. Terrible food. Especially the beef shawarma, never get it there.

I like the Chipotle/Subway concept. The fact that I can customize my shwarma is awesome! Great variety, tasty food, fast and friendly service. Definitely will be coming back!

Tons of great Mediterranean food all over the metro Detroit area. DON’T go here!!! We ordered here twice and they were rude both times. The kabobs were standard but took much longer to cook than they told us we had to wait. The humus was gross, we took two bites and tossed it in the trash. The second time my husband ordered without telling me(he forgot what a bad experience we had) and all of the food was inedible. The chicken was all fat, cold, and they put extra crap I didn’t ask for on my sandwich. My husband also commented on how dirty the floors looked. There’s so many wonderful businesses around, just don’t go here.

Been here 6 times the last 2 weeks for my construction crew. The food is freshly prepared, healthier than fast food and the price is right! I’ve ordered the family platter for 5. At the cost of $ 35 dollars I can feed them twice during a long work day. It’s a great idea to call in the order about 25 minutes before you need it. The only downfall of this place is only having one location but it’s definitely worth the trip.

I wish it could have been better than it was. Of the several visits, shwarma was commonly overcooked or dried out. Cold salads were good and a good variety. The rice and barley sides were dry as well. Portions are generous but it was not good enough for me to rate higher or even finish them. Maybe if business picks up, these items won’t sit as long and will be fresher. I hope they can turn it around. Not sure if I picked slow days or time of visit.

This new restaurant definitely has to work out some kinks. When I walked in I was impressed with how large and colorful it was, but found the TV monitor-menu boards difficult to read due to glare. It was also confusing what was included in a meal. We had a party of 8, and while some of us got our food quickly, others had to wait much longer. 2 people ordered the wing dings appetizer and my little one wanted the wing dings kid’s meal; the appetizers took about 10 minutes and the kid’s meal at least 15(while the rest of our party already had their food, and mine got cold while I stood at the counter waiting for his). I got a 2-meat plate of beef kabobs and chicken shawarma, neither of which were memorable, tabbouleh was good, hummus was okay but doesn’t come with pita bread, brown rice(dry and bland) and chicken lemon rice soup was pretty good. One of my sons got«beef barley» soup that looked like white mush, and didn’t taste any better. My daughter got the yellow rice, which was slightly better than my brown. 4 in our party were under the age of ten, so we ended up with 4 kid meals. I never appreciate when a restaurant only offers kids the kind of garbage they expect kids to eat — chicken nuggets, hot dog, etc. — and this is worse than most, only offering chicken nuggets, chicken wings, or chicken tenders. I will say this for them, their portions were quite generous, and we ended up bringing home 4 containers of leftovers. The staff seemed plentiful, but that didn’t speed up service at all, and the lack of communication regarding our wait for some of our meals was inexcusable. I don’t know that I’ll go back, although I wish them the best and hope they can iron out their issues quickly. In a nutshell: large portions, somewhat bland food, slow service.

When entering the place it was chaotic. Parents letting kids run around as if the staff was the babysitter. The ordering process needs a bit of refining. You start at one end and tell the server what you want which is served cafeteria style. Lots of choices ranging from Shawarma, Kafta, rice and salads. Seemed to not have a good grip on how many servers are needed at one time. The Good: Beef Shwarma and chicken kafta was really tasty as well as the Tabouli and Hummus. Lentil soup was decent but not hot. Yellow rice was average. Most of the food is prepared right in front of you so extra points for freshness. The Bad: The temperature(hot-cold) of the served food was lukewarm and almost cold. I am guessing they are trying not to over heat and have stuff dry out. Regardless, this is a problem. I want my food hot. The beef barley soup was very salty and basically mush. * The food name-cards placed in front of the food are all misplaced. If you are unfamiliar with Arabic food, you might want to ask what it is instead of relying on the name card. Overall I will go back. Hopefully the kinks will be worked out soon. Make the food hot! The prices are extremely fair.

just stopped in for the first time with my Mom because she’s been hearing about it for the past 2 months on the radio… NICE place… kind of big … setup like a Subway restaurant, except with an Arabic menu … the girl that waited on me was kind of cute too and she knew her job pretty well … I think they had 5 people working there around 5 pm plus the manager /owner… i think this place does a large volume of carry-out because the menu is priced right for the surrounding area.

One of the best Middle eastern restaurant in the area, a variety of delicious food. Try the lamb shank with biryani rice, or the tray for 5 people for 30 $

This place has been getting renovated for longer then I remember so when it opened I decided to give it a try, the concept is really good Mediterranean with a chipotle like setting. I had the tray for 3 the food was very bland they was no flavor at all. there were kids in the kitchen area and there was only 3 people working kitchen and waiting tables. Not impressed

So I have been to the genie twice now and here is what I noticed. It is very clean and the customer service is amazing. Me and my fiancé both got a Carry out of the two meats. 16 dollars got us two lentil soup(very good), 2 huge helping of rice, a large portion of each meat(two per carry out), the chicken tikka and beef kabob was our favs), two salads per carry out(salads were super fresh and delicious), two hot fresh out of the oven pita bread and two garlic sauces. Was very impressed on the staff and how it was managed. Will return again

First time at this establishment… I have to admit it’s a great concept for Mediterranean food something like Panda Express but with middle eastern food… You pick 2 meats and 2 sides at a very reasonable price… I know this place just opened and still working out all the kinks in the food business! food was decent but I’m sure it could have been much better had it not been cold the only thing that was warm was the stew I got with my rice other than that all meats were cold :(I will give this place another try soon and hope to be able to update my review to a 5 star!
