I absolutely Loveeee this place!!! It is like the Mediterranean form of chipotle, and they have got it right!!! My husband and I have been going here for about 6 months now and they deliver each time! Fresh pita, awesome rice, delicious falafel and chicken and an array of fresh hummus, sauces and veggies! You cannot go wrong! I always get the pita with either the Chicken Cream Chop or the Chicken Kafta Kabab… the kabab being my favorite but it takes 10 – 15 mins to cook and I don’t always have that much patience, so the cream chop is my next go-to!(but if you are not super hungry, do get the kabab, it is totally worth the wait) And their Cilantro Jalapeño hummus is hands down our favorite. That with a hint of the garlic sauce… heavenly! My husband is a vegetarian and he always gets the falafel bowl which is again, absolutely delicious! And each entrée will cost you under 6 $, and will more than fill you up! I cant think of a down side really! Also do get their Baklava, it is a small piece but it is perfect because it is really rich! and it is totally a must try! All in all, this place is a great find and most definitely lives up to all the hype on Unilocal

I do not know where to start. This place is two miles away from where I live and I never knew of its existence until a month ago. I was reluctant to try this place because the pictures posted on Unilocal did not look appealing and does not look like authentic middle eastern food. On a cold snowy night, I went to this place with a friend. As soon as we walked in to the place, we were greeted by the owner(who was sitting on one of the tables) and then the staff. The lady behind the counter asked us if that was our first time there. She explained the menu. Its design is very similar to chipotle but middle eastern style. The food is always prepared fresh except for the shawarma(they pre-make it after some time of the day I do not remember) however, it still tasted fresh. You get to choose between a bowl or a wrap. I decided to go with the bowl. Then you can choose to get cracked wheat or white rice. I choose the cracked wheat. Then you get to choose your protein(I had chicken shawarma). Then you get to choose between three different types of Hummus(I had the spicy red pepper one). Then comes the veggies. They have a wide selection of veggies that you could put on top of your bowl or sandwich. I asked the lady to put all of them. They also have a good selection of drinks and Ayran(which is a famous yogurt middle eastern drink). Although that drink is phenomenal, I don’t recommend that drink if you are just starting your day because it is a little heavy and will put you in a coma lol. #overactiveparasympathetic The food was as good as it gets. I usually am anti neo middle eastern food, but this place took me to heaven. I literally was crying after I started eating the food(because of the jalapeño of course). But seriously, the chicken was so tender and rich in flavor. I highly recommend cracked wheat over rice(it tasted better with cracked wheat that rice). The ambient of the place is casual and they have a midsize TV and they play sports. I enjoyed my first visit and I have became a regular customer. Oh and the food is super inexpensive. less than 6 dollars for the bowl and less than 5 for the pita. totally worth it.

So I am not gonna lie, my expectations were VERY high coming in because of these Unilocal reviews. And boy… This place did not disappoint. As I walked in, first thing I noticed was how clean it was. I was greeted and helped right away. The guy that helped me was friendly and sooo patient with me. Let’s talk about the set up, it’s almost like a subway layout. You choose a bowl or pita and you choose your meat then veggies and sauces. Portions were great and so are the prices. It was fast and fresh, so no wonder it’s gotten so many positive reviews.

I totally see why this place has five stars. Just stopped by here for dinner(based on Unilocal rating and a quick menu glance) after an afternoon of window shopping at nearby Somerset Collection mall(aka super-fancy, swanky mall). It’s a very tiny unassuming little place and we went an hour before close and there was only one other couple in there. My friend and I agreed that this place is the Chipotle of Mediterranean food and that we are totally okay with that. You can get pitas or bowls. I got a pita and it was only $ 5.25 because I got steak, other pitas like chicken were like $ 4.75 or something. I asked for fries in my pita instead of white or cracked wheat rice and it only took a few minutes for them to be ready — during which they were able to make my friend’s chicken bowl. Although I got the classic hummus, they had really good cilantro hummus and roasted bell pepper that we tried and really liked as well. In addition to garlic, tahini, ranch and hot sauce, there were tons of fresh veggies with which to fill out pita and bowl. My friend got the crushed lentil soup which he said was thick good. All in all we both thoroughly enjoyed this place. I’m kinda sad they are in Sterling Heights cause I live in Ann Arbor and it’s a bit of a drive but I’d definitely come back and eat here again. Fresh, affordable, delicious food!!!

It’s been said in other reviews, and I’ll echo that this is like the Chipotle of Middle Eastern cuisine. Fresh food in abundance, for a reasonable price. My wife and I had a chicken shawarma pita sandwich, and were both happy with the selection. I recommend the cilantro and jalepeno hummus for an extra spicy kick. We will be going back again soon.

Went there for the first time today because of the 5 star reviews on here and was not disappointed! Subway/chipotle style for middle eastern/Mediterranean food and SO fantastic. I will definitely be going back. My boyfriend and I both ate for less than 15 bucks… which is less than fast food sometimes! Plus the quality was WAY better. I got the chicken shwarma pita and him the steak. I only ate half and was full. Can’t wait to go back!

This place is 5 stars All Day Long! Fast fresh clean delish! 1st time here, and I was clueless. The employee was über helpful, friendly. Gave me the run down in 10 seconds flat and I was ordering up. She even gave me sample spoons of different hummus– all of them amazing but their cilantro/jalapeño Awesome. I ordered a bowl with bugler wheat, chicken shawarma, and all the fresh toppings– lettuce, hummus, garlic sauce, pickle, green pepper, turnip, onion, cucumber, parsley, tomatoes, and chick peas.(I passed on the pickled cabbage and jalapeños, and was mad I did). For $ 5.99 out the door, this was worth every penny. The chicken was flavorful and moist. The bugler was tender and perfectly cooked and the topping were all freshly hand cut. The price for the amount of quality/quantity food was spot on! Only wish I lived closer, but I’ll definitely be back!

By far, some of the best food I’ve ate. The food is extremely fresh. Folks, I eat sleep and shit chicken shawarma sandwiches, and this is by far the best. Great staff! I come here at least twice a week. Chipotle is over rated. This place shits on it

Seriously, just eat here. Then, you’ll know for yourself. I called last night about 15 mins before they closed to make sure it was okay for me to come in(I live less than five mins away) with my sister and friend. The guy on the phone(whom I believe is the owner? He’s younger) asked me what we’re planning on getting so he could make sure we have it! Their food is always great and CLEAN, it’s consistent, it’s not expensive at all. Their staff is always really nice too. So. My point through all this is: just go eat there.

My my my all I can say is chipotle who lol. This was my first time coming here and I must say I’m addicted. I would go everyday if I could. So the staff is so friendly and helpful and since it was my first time they made sure to let me sample anything I was curious about so I would know what to get when I placed my order. I ended up getting a bowl with the steamed wheat crumbles or something like that lol. Half chicken half steak shawarma. And I added a variety of other things. My favorite two things were the spicy red sauce and the cilantro hummus. The food was amazing is all I can really say. So more than likely I will be going here Monday for lunch. It was quick, easy, tasty, and inexpensive. This is what I call a meal deal.

I can’t get enough of this place! I wish there was another location either by my work or by my house. If I had to eat this every day for the rest of my life, I’d be a happy girl. I’ll go along with every other review and state this is a Middle Eastern version of Chipotle. You can choose either make your own pita or bowl. The pita is a thin pita bread cut in the middle and they stuff it with your choice of protein, sauce(s) & veggies. The bowl beginner is either rice or cracked wheat. I get the cracked wheat every time, it’s DELICIOUS! Protein options: Chicken shawarma, steak shawarma, falafel, beef kebob, or chicken cream chop. It really doesn’t matter what protein you choose, all of them are tender, juicy and yummy. I have never had a dry, tasteless meal here. Sauces are hot sauce, ranch, tahini & garlic sauce. You can also add hommous — traditional, roasted red pepper, or cilantro jalapeño. The cilantro jalapeño hommous is so delicious, it’s the only one I’ve ever had at Chickpea Kitchen because it’s that good. On to veggies — choose your own, no limit. This includes chopped parsley which you can never have enough parsley! You can also get sides of pita & hommous, and they have some soup & salad options. Really this is one of the best fast casual restaurants in the area, offering healthy and flavorful options. We need more fast casual restaurants like this in Metro Detroit!

At the recommendation of a fellow Unilocal friend I was in the area and stopped in the Chickepea Kitchen. I must say what a good decision that was. I’m shocked that at 1:30pm on a Saturday afternoon I was the only person in this little gem. As others have described it is basically the Chipotle of Mediterranean food. I tried the chicken shawarma bowl with the red pepper hummus, tahini, cracked wheat and lots of veggies. I was excited to try the pickled turnips as a topping and let me tell you, they are very tasty. For $ 6.00 my shawarma bowl is easily two meals and is beyond delicious and rather healthy too. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area again!

What a nice fresh alternative. I’ve driven by this place countless times, I have know idea why I haven’t stopped in. Nice décor and very clean. I was really impressed for my first time. We ordered an chicken pita and chicken salad. They had a decent amount of topping, all looking very fresh. I was particularly excited with 3 different humus options, old school, cilantro and red bell pepper. They offered little sample spoons like at 31 Flavors, nice touch. I was able to do half cilantro and half red pepper on my pita and it was yummy. My next visit is going to be sooner than later.

Ive got to admit, this place popped up during the multiple mound construction projects this fall & I missed it, but then several Unilocal friends kept on checking in, but I did not give it a 2nd thought. Then it was a ROTD and I thought yea another shawarma place on mound. So then I read a couple of reviews & had to get there, to see or justify the hype. Well 100% warranted Walked in at 6pm on 12−2−14, Mike asked if it was our first visit, yes indeed! He then had those mini ice cream sample spoons & offered us each a taste of all 3 hummus, YES all 3 were fabulous, in taste & texture! I ordered the steak shawarma bowl .50 upgrade But Mike cooked the marinated meat, fresh on the grill. my bowl was layered with Cracked Wheat chickpeas parsley red & white onions pickled cabbage turnips jalapenos tomatoes tahini & garlic sauce A+ for $ 4.99 and I have leftovers I also ordered a bowl of lentil soup, which was very good, had a hint of a sweet taste setting it apart from every other lentil soup I have had A+ $ 3.40 The bride had the chicken shawarma bowl & chicken lemon rice soup\ She«Seldom» gets excited about food, however this place hijacked her taste buds, she claimed she was done with Qdoba & was plotting our next visit back. Faris the owner stopped by, wondered what brought us in, or how we heard about it. I asked how he chose the location, with so many middle eastern –Mediterranean places already around here, his answers were enlightening. I also asked where the next location was going to be? Shelby Please?!?

Woahhh! I’m completely addicted to this place now! Let me break it down for you: Step one: Choose a wrap or a bowl Step two: Pick a meat(the chicken shawarma and chicken cream chop were both very flavorful! My personal fav was the chicken shawarma– it had great charred/grilled flavor) Step three: Pick either: a bed of rice, grilled veggies, or cracked bulgar wheat.(This also gets stuffed into the wraps– even if you choose rice) Step four: Sauce it! They have homemade ranch, hot sauce, tahini, and garlic sauce. I recommend getting the ranch and garlic. It’s super good Step five: Pick a hummus, any hummus! Roasted red pepper, original, and my personal favorite jalapeño cilantro! Step six: Toppings! Just pick any and all the veggies you want! Step seven: Take your first bite and watch your life change. This place was magical. The food was very fresh, and not to mention VERY affordable. One bowl or one wrap is only $ 4.49!!! Even the shittiest fast food place is more expensive than that and this is fresh and healthy! Only complaint(and not by me) is that the hummus is on the thinner side. Rather than it being a thick paste it was almost like a thick dressing. I bought three sides(one of each flavor) to take to my grandmas house for them to try and they all loved the flavor but wished it was thicker. I’m hooked! You gotta try this place out guys!
