I love this location! I’ve been to the Royal Oak one too, but this one a lot more. I usually get the See Ew and its the best, had it from many other places but this is my favorite. The only thing is the employees do not speak very good english. They give you your bill too quickly and thats one of my biggest pet peeves at any restaurant. Also, they’re paying service is not good. I was once charged twice. And they did not refund me, they just gave me a credit. Overall amazing food but has room for changes.

I’ve been to three or four of the other locations thanks to GroupOn offers but this is the one I’ve been to most. I usually get only two dishes at Thai places: fried rice or massaman curry. At Bangkok, I recommend Kow Pad Poung Garee which is one of their fried rice w/o bamboo shoots for picky eaters. Has just peas, onions, and a cucumber for garnish. Really simple and reminiscent of Indian biryanis and chinese fried rice. And you can ask however spicy you want. Lunch portions are ~8 and dinner are ~11 dollars-ish. Quantity worth the price esp for dinner. A lot of food. Soup and shrimp chips are complimentary before taking order. And def look at GroupOn for specials. Quality Thai food at a quality establishment that’s been around longer that I’ve existed: P

I had two entrees; Kow Pad Poung Garee(which is my staple) and Gang Garee, both with tofu. Both were delicious! Perfect spice and large portions. However; I am vegetarian, and when served their hot and sour soup, I asked the waitress if there was chicken in it, and she told me no. Upon me eating about half the bowl, I found tiny bits of chicken. The waitress didn’t really seem to care that she had basically poisoned me. Good thing I wasn’t allergic!

The food tasted amazing. I loved the level of spices. First time here and I love it. I will be returning for sure. I had the drunken flat noodles with tofu. And my husband has the basil fried rice with shrimp. Mushroom soup was very tasty as well. And our waitress was a sweet heart!

I could marry their fried rice. 4⁄5 because they never give me extra tomatoes when I ask for more tomatoes in the fried rice and because they only give you soup with the crackers when you eat sit-down. the soup comes with the meal, it’s not an automatic sit down thing, so it should be to go as well: P as someone that works at a restaurant I know packing up soup to go is a pain, but if I’m payin for it… anyway, food is excellent. always hot and delicious and flavorful! food is super spicy without tasting too strongly of spices. be warned, even the mild can be too spicy for some people!(ex. my native german mom) also the interior is kinda boring compared to the rochester location which has those big windows and all that natural lighting. but I’m pretty sure that one was converted from an old big boy’s, so… anyway, if you like shrimp chips that crackle and dissolve in spicy soup like rice crispies in milk, come sit down and have dinner. if you don’t care, it’s an excellent place for takeout.

As far as Thai food in the east side, this place is my go-to. No other Thai place is as tasty and consistent as Bangkok Cuisine. It all starts with their hot and sour soup. This cones complimentary with every lunch dish. The soup is always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly spicy. I enjoy dipping the shrimp chips in it as I await my main course. I typically get the kow pad or pad thai with chicken at the medium level of spiciness. This is where I really value the consistency of Bangkok Cuisine. Not only is the food always tasty, but the spice level is always the same. I can’t count the number of Thai restaurants I’ve been to where medium means medium one day but means volcano hot when a different chef is working. I’ve really come to appreciate getting what I expect every time. I don’t usually get too deep into the menu here so I can’t speak to some of the more exotic dishes, but everything I’ve ever had has been terrific. If you’re in or around this part of town and craving Thai food, you can’t go wrong at Bangkok Cuisine.

5 for the food, 3 for the décor/oldness of the place = 4 stars overall. I have been to the Bangkok Cuisine takeout location on Woodward(Royal Oak) and also the sit-down location in West Bloomfield, which is quite a bit newer, I think. This restaurant is in-between my apartment and my boyfriend’s house, so I bought a Groupon for it so we could try it. It’s on Maple/15 Mile near Dequindre but a little past the corner. Service was very friendly and attentive. You get soup with your dinner(yay!) and their hot and sour soup was really, really good. We also got shrimp chips with our dinner … receiving both of these was nice because normally with dinner you get the entrée and everything else is a la cart. He got the Pad Thai with shrimp and I got the Pad Prik. My fave Thai place is Sy Thai(Bham/Troy) and I get the Ka Prow, but Pad Prik is similar. I agree with Matthew P.‘s review — I ordered mine mild, and it was more of a medium — so be aware of that. The bf ordered his medium and said it was too hot to bring to work(leftovers, the next day), lol … he needed lots of water to drink with it. The place itself seems kind of old … not dirty or anything like that, but a little run-down. The bathroom was clean but located near the kitchen/closets area. I’d come back here again when in the neighborhood because the food was so good, but Woodward is a bit closer for me. Dinner prices were reasonable, too — $ 11.95 for chicken/beef/tofu entrees, with a big portion(I had leftovers), or $ 13.95 for the seafood dishes.

It was just okay. I bought a Groupon to try a new thai place, but I wasn’t impressed. We ordered shrimp Pad Thai & scallop Pad Woonsene,(we allllways order Pad Thai) and both were bland tasting and lacking flavor sadly. The portions were huge(lots of shrimp and scallops in each) and comes with a bowl of soup: Tom Yum(delicious) & hot and sour(basic). For the two dishes our bill was $ 28, which is $ 9 more than we typically pay for dinner out for Pad Thai. I wasn’t impressed, and will stick with my regular Thai place. Bathrooms were clean & staff nice and attentive.

Dined here yesterday, and it didn’t go as well as I hoped! Although the reviews for this place aren’t all that great, I remember reading a great review about the food being excellent from a reviewer who has great taste, however I would have to disagree completely after checking it out for myself. I got the gang dang, which I think is «gang gai» actually. And it was burnt! I don’t know how they could have burned it but every timed I swallowed, it irritated my throat. At first I thought perhaps there was too much ginger, but the server told me they do not use ginger in this dish. I was a little confused as to what it was until I saw some of my tofu had small dark burned texture and smell. Also I didn’t get any soup because they assured me that their broth is chicken, but I was a little disappointed because they could’ve perhaps given me a replacement like a spring roll like most Asian restaurants do if you don’t take the soup that is suppose to come with the meal. Another thing I didn’t like is that I couldn’t upgrade to fried rice for my meal, and was told I must order fried rice separately which would have came as another entrée. I thought that was ridiculous. Not going to make my way around here again.

Sadly an old favorite gone bad. It used to be the best place in town for Thai food. Mediocre, watered down curry dishes that are hot, but not flavorfully spicy. Tough chewy spring rolls with nothing but shredded cabbage. Service was equally poor. Order was wrong and waitress argued before taking it back. Never came back to check on our table or bring more water.

Childhood Favorite One of my earliest childhood food memories was grilling chicken satay on a hibachi at the original location — long… long…ago, which hasn’t been possible since around 1992. Loyal customer

I used to live down the street on Dequindre and work at the Tech Center, and this place is VERY popular for lunch. Whenever my husband and I come back to visit our family around the holidays, we make a point to go to any of the Bangkok locations. Even if we go for lunch as we drive out of the state, my husband has to have his beef pad Thai from Bangkok before we go. We moved out of state and could not find a Thai place that even came close. I LOVE the pineapple fried rice, and my husband gets the beef pad Thai with medium spice. He says he loves to see what mood the chef is in, as the medium spice level can be slightly different on different days. I never venture beyond the first spice level. Even that gets me sometimes. The difference between the full locations and express locations is that you do not get the chips, soup, and salad at the express locations. The waitresses are always really nice, the food comes out hot, and it is delicious! We have now moved again, and we are hoping to find something similar to Bangkok!

The food was good. However, I placed my order and told the lady I was driving from royal oak and that it may take a few minutes longer. When I was a mile away, I received a phone call asking if I was coming for my food, I was about to reply that I was almost there and she HUNGUPONME! I found that to be extremely rude. When I confronted her, I received no apology and she merely shrugged it off… I’ll be taking my $$ to a business that appreciates customers.

It seems hard to believe that I’ve never written a review of Bangkok Cuisine. Perhaps it is because, though I have been here a few times over the years, it has not been my Thai restaurant of choice. That may change after tonight. The spicy, milky sauciness of my Vegetable Curry Tofu, large container of brown rice at a reasonable price and steamy insides of the vegetarian spring rolls accompanied by a hot-sweet dipping sauce with bits of peanut may draw me there more regularly than before. The food here tastes like the what I first tried in a restaurant on Woodward more years ago than I want to say. It thus seems more Thai than what I’ve been eating at Thai restaurants lately. Note that this is a review of carry-out service only. If I can convince the Mrs., though, I’m up for a dine-in trip based on tonight’s meal.

This is my favorite Thai place by far. This place runs hot on the heat scale. Hot at Orchid Café up the street is a mild+ here. So if you like heat and bit of mouth tingle, start medium or mild plus. I have high tolerance and medium plus here burns. I’ve enjoyed lots of dishes, and really love their drunken noodle with pork. Eight out of 10 times I order the Pad Num Mun Hoy with scallops, and add bamboo shoots. It’s a brown oyster sauce with mushroom and green onion. Scallops are large, and very plentiful. When I get the crispy rolls or spring roll that comes with the sweet clear peanut sauce, i mix in some of the table side red curry to make a sweet heat dipping sauce. Yum! From take out to dine in for 10 years i’ve had nothing but love. Service is always great for me. IMO it’s as good as it gets, and I compare all my other Thai meals to Bangkok.

The food here is outstanding. They lost a star because they prices are high. Even compared with their Garfield location. My favorite dish is the Pad Thai. Extra spicy. The Bangkok Chicken is very good also.
