Best homemade Italian ices I’ve ever had! It’s a nice(free) ride on the ferry from Manhattan. Worth a trip back to Staten Island just for the Italian ice.

I love going to Rispoli! We live in the neighborhood and go frequently. Elvira is always so pleasant and creates a very friendly home — like environment. We are always greeted with a smile. The pastry products are delicious, especially the apple turnover and cannoli. I also love the cookies. And in the summer, you can’t beat the Italian ice!

I was here the first time because the nearby library was already closed when I showed up in the area. I saw 3 customers inside and there was a helpful lady attending to us. I ordered a large cup of coffee(somewhat price-y than usual) and would soon order a piece of biscotti(if I recall it right). Outside, it was cold and I was soon finding myself being happy here. I was soon chatting with a regular customer, an oldish fellow who probably lives in the area. One of the other customers was friendly to me, too. I was just killing time for my next appointment in the city. I know I can walk to the ferry terminal in less than 10 minutes from here(that can be shortened if you walk fast!). They apparently close around 5:30pm on Fridays(am not sure on other days). But I’m sure I’ll be back here soon. It reminds me of other coffee house /bakeshops in other NYC neighborhoods, but this one seems to be operated by the owner herself(who’s the one in the counter, or probably closely related to the owner — I didn’t bother to ask LOL)…

Everybody in my office asked me where I got my cookies :) Decent price. Sadly, I don’t think they open on Sunday, and they close very early.

I love this place. They have great coffee, that doesnt taste like a starbucks clone, and fantastic creamy cheesecake! Its a small place, with only a ledge around the perimeter to sit and enjoy– but its pleasant and welcoming. And I agree with all the positive remarks about Elvira — she’s awesome!

Very yummy cannoli’s! I just had some yesterday as I was going to the library(sidebar: how did I not know this shoppe was here until now?! Was is invisible to muggles?) As I was saying, the cannoli’s are super yummy here and a large one runs you about $ 2.25 which is not bad. They also had tons of yummy treats in the display case which I will be going back to try at a future date. Located between St. George theatre and the Sovereign bank I totally recommend for anyone needing to satisfy a sweet tooth.

I haven’t been to this location, but when it was in Brooklyn I always got Italian ice here. Really good! Growing up in Brooklyn you always got Italian ice at a bakery or pizzeria. Loved the piña colada.

Remember when I was tackling my backlog of reviews and I vowed that I would never do another Staten Island one? Or something like that? Well, I fibbed. In my ever expanding asking-for-library-overtime requests, I now do the occasional Sunday shift on Staten Island. I take that boat and everything. One of the few joys I have during my exile to the lost borough is Rispoli. It’s pretty much right across the street fromt he library. And even though it’s Sunday, it’s still open… at least during lunchtime hours(I think they might close in the afternoon-ish). This was my destination during my first SI visit, and it was my lunch stop today. Last time I got some sort of apple-filled pastry. Today, it was a sampling of two small muffins– blueberry and cranberry. This is more of a snack place than actually-getting-a-meal. It’s a good sort of stop-for-coffee place as well, especially without a Starbucks or a Dunks in sight. The baked goods are okay; pretty much what you would get from a day old bakesale. I’m pretty sure the stuff is mostly made on Saturday, then just sold on Sunday. The coffee is pretty damn good though, and worth the stop inside. They also have homemade italian ice I just might have to try next time. Anyway, I’m glad it’s there. It’s one of my new places.

Awesome Toasted Almond Italian Ice with a cute and friendly girl as a cherry on top. Easily one of my favorite hole in the wall places not only in Staten Island, but in all of New York! Ate here 3 times and each time provided a nice and tasty treat to cool me off. Just stick with the Toasted Almond and you’ll be just fine.
