Freshly opened this year, it is a small space with lots of history. Curious exhibition with history of all lighthouses, maps and models. It has room to grow — and they have plans to do so by 2017. Historical property is resides on is a story on it’s own, amazing to snoop around those old buildings… Large paved square in front on the museum with tables and benches is great to relax for a bit, and waterfront location gives you best views of the city. If you walking around Staten Island Waterfront, it is worth to stop by.

This museum is small and quaint, yet backs a lot of punch per square foot. I never knew there was so much to appreciate about lighthouses. The exhibits are nice and not in the least intimidating. The brick walls add a historically gritty feel that is entirely appropriate. There’s an exhibit on different firefighter/police patches featuring lighthouses as well as some of the more visually stunning lighthouses of the world. The tour guide is absolutely perfect for the job, he clearly takes a deep joy in the subject and told me they even organize tours of the lighthouses of the tri-state area(of which there are quite a few I learned).
