Some dishes served here are pretty good the mofongo and camarofongo are very very good… The way I order mine is a mix of the two; regular mofongo with shrimp(thank me later) The fried whole fish the fried porkbeans and rice are very flavorful. Recently I tried the stewed goat and this was also good … Not so great; the baked chicken… Also the Oxtail is a hit or miss… I guess it depends on who prepares it that day.

Great selections. I love this restaurant. I come here with family, since it’s really delicious and very affordable Spanish food on Staten Island. I usually order the beef or chicken stew with yellow rice and no beans. But the beans are good! I love the empanadas :) The chicken soup is really good and the chicken bits(I forgot the name) are yummy as well. I have tried the ox tail and it has really good flavor. I have never disliked my meal at El Pollo, and the portions are huge, so I always have leftovers to take home for lunch the next day! Service is pretty good too, sometimes a bit slow but nothing too horrifying. It’s worth it either way, because I always love the food!

This place has fresh food all the time! Great Spanish food especially for us Latinos that live closer to the Outerbridge! I wish they would open one up in the Charleston Shopping Center

Good spot. Lot of food for the money. Ate there because it was close to our hotel. Not disappointed. Had beef and onions. Really good. Also had french fries. Big portions. Street parking. Big menu for a small restaurant. Go there and enjoy.

When you don’t have enough time to make yourself a meal, and it’s a little too late to start anyway, this place meets the mark. It’s not to be compared to any Dominican spot you can go to in the Bronx, but I’ll take it for Staten Island. Their rice and beans are yummy, as is their oxtail stew. The mofongo can be a bit dry, but it’ll do. The prices are decent and the staff are nice.

My wife and I have been going to this place for years and absolutely love the food. My wife loves their beef stew, fried plantains and red beans. Mine is the grilled chicken stew with either rice side and red beans. They also have excellent pork and steak and opinions. Meat is always flavorful and never dry. I also love the fact that they have the Puerto Rican soda Kola Champagne! I’m not really a soda drinker but will enjoy one while I’m there. Also, my review is based on take out and not dine in.

I’m pretty surprised at the other reviews. I LOVE Spanish food. I grew up on it, I cook it at home, and the highlight of the travel for work to NYC is the Latin restaurants. During my travel in SI, I found this place– very close to my hotel. I was satisfied with the food. The portions are huge which is great for someone always on the go(leftovers!!). I had the steak with onions one night — delicious. Not dry, very flavorful. Next time I stopped in I ate the baked chicken. I thought the white meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. I like supporting local businesses and this place has earned it’s stripes with me. The staff is friendly. Overall, it was a nice experience. I would give it a try if you are in the area. Side note! Someone said they found it inconvenient that this place was not open on Sundays… I agree. BUT!!! Coming from someone that has a loved one that owns their own business… I respect that. It shows that the owners value their employees and value family time. We all need a day off!

This is not the same owners as the original ELPOLLO on Richmond Road! I tried calling this place to pick up food and it seems that the number either doesn’t work or the place must be so packed out busy and not enough employees to answer the phone which means the place sucks on management, The food is not as great as the ELPOLLO original I usually go to. I feel the food stays out longer and just does not taste as fresh or flavorful as it usually would if I had it somewhere else or made it myself. The place is pretty small and right off the West Shore Expwy. Prices are not really that cheap and like I said the food was not great. I chose some finger foods like fried chunks of chicken which were too burnt and really hard to bite into, rice and beans which felt hard too, the empanadas were not that great and they gave me more bones and vegetables then a decent piece of chicken in my chicken soup. I dont or wont be coming back here because I rather enjoy the better taste of the ELPOLLO which is número uno cause this place is nowhere close to its standards.

It was a toss up between giving this place 2 or 3 stars. I want to be fair because the found the gandules and pernil ok but wasn’t so crazy about the beef empanadas. I’m a huge fan of the Dominican deli on Forest Ave and M&K on Richmond Terrace which I find better.

This place is consistent. Not many places for take out/delivery of spanish food. When we do order its fast cheap and good. We usually go with ther pernil, and white meat chicken stew. Try it out.

I disagree with these reviews. I’ve been going to both the Targee Street location and the Victory Blvd. location for a few years now. I have never had a plate of bad food. The Victory Blvd. location is more of a take out location. I rarely sit down and eat. The red and black beans are amazing. The pasteles are always great! The beef stew is always awesome. The cuchifritos, I’ve tasted better in Manhattan. But really, they deserve more stars.

So as two stars would explain it, I’ve had better. My main reason for making my way here is because there are NOOTHER spanish food restaurants in the area, so this place will have to make do. Their foods are not disgustingly horrible, but they’re not drool-worthy deliciousness either. I’d say it’s just average. I do love that they are right off the highway, so it’s a pretty convenient location, and the fact that they do deliver is a PLUS! I was a little upset that I asked for dark meat only Rotisserie chicken, and they refused to accomodate me. If I’m paying close to $ 10 for my meal, I’d like to have it my way. What ever happened to the CUSTOMER is always right? Anyway, I ended up with a tiny piece of dark meat and a HUGE piece of DRY white meat chicken. Will I come back again? If I could be a patron at a different spanish restaurant, I would. But again, there are no others in the area, so yes. I will go back, but very reluctantly.

El Pollo definitely changed from the last time I was there, they’ve hired friendlier staff and the food is incredible. Parking sucks but this is a must try!!!

I do think that their food is very good. But I find the prices to be a little steep. The last time I went there this lady ordered yellow rice and 2 pasteles and the price came out to $ 7.00 which I found to be absolutely ridiculous. It shouldve been $ 3 tops.

This place is more convenient than a necessity for me. I absolutely love their other location as the food is better, the dining room is larger, and the selection is larger. This location has great service however, and it’s convenient to my neighborhood. The food is good here, not great, but decent enough. The pork can be dry and a little light on taste, but the roasted chicken is superb. I recommend adding a little salt to the yellow rice or some red beans. The stews are pretty decent here as well. I do miss the speghetti they used to have here, but I guess I’m the only one. :) Price is very reasonable for the amount of food that you get. The portions here are on the large side and should satisfy almost everyone. My only complaint about this place is that they are closed on Sundays. It’s hard for me to get here during the week after work, so Saturdays and Sundays are my saving grace to sample this hispanic cuisine.
