My friend and I love this place! It’s our Wednesday ritual. The coconut coffee with toasted marshmallow flavor is amazing! You will be happy with any kind of waffle you choose. My current favorite is the apple pie waffle. It has a nice and calm atmosphere.

my rating for the place is based on my first experience tasting their bubble tea. I’m an avid bubble tea drinker and this place was not that great. i asked for a Thai bubble tea with a shot of espresso… they blended the drink with ice so it became this frothy/frap mix I didn’t ask for nor. I wanted my traditional shaken bubble tea with traditional consistency when you use the powdered flavors. They also added milk which is odd because the most powders already have rice milk Incorporated. The bubbles were cooked appropriately but bland because they weren’t put in sugared water so it tasted like I was eating bland chewy stuff the whole time. Also the drink itself didnt have any sugar so the lack of sugar from the drink and the lack of sugar from the bubbles just made it a very flavorless drink. the place is nice, small and cute… but nothing amazing.

When I first walked in here I said to my husband, this place smells amazing. The tea selection was fantastic. I had an iced Waterfall tea. My husband got the largest latte I’ve ever seen which he said was delicious. We didn’t get any food but they did have a number of gluten free options. The place itself was quite small, only about 6 tables, but there were people coming in and our the whole time we sat there to enjoy our drinks and read the paper. I will definitely be back, it’s so nice to have a great coffee/tea shop nearby.

Definitely one of my favorite breakfast places. Everything is homemade and delicious. Any waffle flavor is always on point. I Recommended the cookies and cream waffle, with strawberries and whip-cream. Java chip frappé is my favorite.

Visited this unique coffee spot located in west brighten and came away very pleased. The variety of coffee options is overwhelming but I mean that as a compliment. Many varieties if you want fancy coffee drinks and exotic flavors or prefer old school coffee. Any coffee lover will find this place to be java paradise. They also had the most delicious waffles that compliments whatever coffee you order. The manager Vinny was amazing as he can do so much as they place gets real busy but the service is flawless .I suggest anyone who loves coffee to go by and check this spot out

Amazing coffee and service! I’ve had drip coffee from here, a few different pastries, and also bought whole bean coffee to grind at home. The prices are very reasonable, and the coffee is delicious. The atmosphere is casual and peaceful, with a few tables at which to relax if you’re not in a hurry. I haven’t had their waffles yet, but I’ve seen many pictures on Instagram and they look fantastic. Highly recommend for everything!

Great neighborhood coffee place that is a nice alternative from the chains in the area. The cappuccino is nice and bold and their baked goods are pretty delicious — their chocolate chip cookie is amazing. I haven’t had one yet, but the waffles look perfect and gluttonous all at the same time.

When you walk into beans and leaves its exactly what youve expected, a small cute neighborhood joint that you want to support. Ive been here once before but just got a coffee and headed out. Today i decided to try a waffle, the ones everyone had been raving about. My friend and i got a waffle each and a coffee. Came out to 38 dollars which to be honest i was really shocked at. I would probably not come back for waffles if thats the price at almost 20 a person. If anyone does come to get waffles, ask for them to be made crispy because when mine came it was just like eating a cake in the shape of a waffle. And don’t pile the toppings. Simple fruit and syrup would be better. I got nutella and strawberry and the nutella was honestly over bearing i could only eat half. It was so sugary. But thats my own fault trying to pile on more than i can bear. The coffee is definitely delicious, no complaints there. So many flavors, almond milk, what more can you ask for. I just wish the waffles were better to be honest because it was a bit disappointing. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from coming and trying them though, maybe just too sweet for my taste and too«cake» like. But overall being here felt great the staff is so sweet and even the customers. Definitely a must see neighborhood joint.

I’ve always wanted to come to this famous Staten Island eatery. Everybody and their grandmama in the island has visit this cute coffee shop at least once. I came with my fellow Unilocaler and I was surprised that they have vegan pastries. I order the strawberry bubble tea and I wasnt impressed. It had no taste and not sweet at all. But then again! Its not their speciality so I won’t be too harsh on them. But my friend’s frap with almond milk was amazing. I should of stole it from him lol. NOTFAIR!!! I also order a vegan gluten free chocolate chip cookie and it was delish. The staff were super sweet and I would definitely come back to try other vegan pastries and drinks. Tips 1. Public Transportation. The s48 runs by this establishment. 2. Parking. This can be tricky. Since its a busy avenue with parking meters. Your best bet is to park on the side streets. 3. The place is small with about 6 – 10 tables. But its warm and cozy. 4. Ask for a menu. They have a chalkboard with the different kind of coffees but not all the items were on the menu. Luckily I checked the menu on Unilocal before coming here. 5. Kindly tip the staff! 6. Vegan pastries on the North Shore of the Island yay! 7. Enjoy!

Im so happy i finnaly got a chance to visit this coffee house, So worth the trip from the other side of the island !! All i had was the Coconut crème Frappé with an extra espresso shot and almond milk, vegan chocolate cookie and chocolate croissant but i saw the dishes others were eating and it all looked and smelled delicious! Its a very small shop with maybe 8 – 10 tables or so but its a really nice and cozy set up, i cant wait to come back with my girls because i know they’ll go bananas for the amazing waffle options. From nutella to capt crunch to red velvet, cmon you know you wanna try that red velvet waffle! Also the coffee and flavors are very interesting and creative, ill probably try every flavor creations in a month lol I wish they had a location near Huguenot but that could be dangerous for me lmao. Anyway, you guys Rock and please keep up the great work

First review: 2 stars Although the drinks and waffles are delicious this place needs to be run better. It took 20 minutes just to wait on the line and order and then the table we had to scoop up remained dirty for about another 10 minutes. Really disappointed with how this place was run and the almost too carefree way the staff deals with the customers. Updated review: 3 stars When my husband went to pay they said the whole check was on them do to the experience. That was classy. Will try again in the future since the food was so good.

When I have visions in my head of my dream business I want to open — this is the model I plan from! Finally got a chance to get to come here for breakfast and was NOT disappointed one bit. It was a little busy once we arrived but with a great product and fast turnover it was even more enjoyable! Place is cozy and comfortable the type of place you want in your neighborhood. With chain places always dominating, beans and leaves strives for excellence through staff, food, price and ambiance! Drink menu is extensive and their main attraction the waffles!!! don’t come here and not order one from basic add ones to create a customizable meal to main waffle attractions such as red velvet and Oreo and the special Cap’n Crunch waffle not to be missed staff is courteous and on top of their game to make sure you’re taken care of. When/If the time comes for me to open up a business I hope I can create the same love and care as beans and leaves does time after time.

A very respectable variety of teas and some coffees makes for a nice selection while you chit chat or read or use a surface tablet(which comes with a lithium ion battery now). One strange thing though is that after you’ve sniffed a tea sampler and figured out what you’d like to drink, you then have to locate the actual jar of tea that corresponds to that sampler on the shelf. Since the two are located in different places, you may not actually find it. Some just aren’t there! Small annoyance but that’s the only thing I didn’t like. The best seats are the two armchairs by the window. I also had a piece of mudcake which was okay. Plenty of people stop by this place and it has the feel of a local, neighborhood café, with several patrons greeting the barista and each other by name. This place is fantastic!

Been here multiple times and have never had a bad experience. Whenever I am on Staten Island, I make it a point to stop here and grab my coffee. Not many places have almond milk and gluten free, vegan options like this place. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. They make you feel like part of the neighborhood. The décor is warm and cozy, you could sit in here for hours and read a book. Haven’t had the waffles but every time I see someone order one, they look delicious. Hurray for this mom and pop coffee shop kicking ass! Keep it up!

This place is adorable! I wish Staten Island had more shops like this one. Every item I have tried has been great. The peanut butter iced coffee is delicious. The smoothies are so tasty and made with fresh ingredients. It isn’t one of those smoothies where they add powders and sugars. It actually appears to be healthy. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Parking can be rough, but it’s worth it! Rock on Staten Island.

Love this place! I’ve had their many«coffee of the day» flavors and finally got to try their signature waffles! I had a waffle with bananas, strawberries and nutella, one big dish of deliciousness. The waffle was big and fluffy, no dry waffles here. The flavors I have had for their coffee are the coffee cake, white chocolatini, graham cracker and almond. It’s a cute neighborhood spot, with adorable décor. The staff is friendly & always makes for a pleasant visit! I hope it’s around for years to come!

This is my SPOT! I work from home, so I always come here to get work done and enjoy a great assortment of iced teas, smoothies, and gluten free treats. I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences at this place, but today I was brutally disappointed. It was pretty busy at good ol’ B&L today, so granted, the staff was a bit more hectic and less attentive. But I literally had my feelings hurt when the usually friendly staff was downright rude. With no one in line ahead or behind me, I stood at the counter to order some of their fantastic loose iced tea. I waited. And waited. I chose a tea for myself and put it on the counter in front of me, so it might be easier and quicker for them to take my order. I waited to be noticed. Then, For 5 minutes, a guy behind the counter took an order over the phone, hung up, and glanced at me. I smiled. He didn’t. Then, he sped away. Next, a mature looking lady behind the counter looked at me. I tried to maintain eye contact to let her know I wasn’t being helped. She mumbled something under her breath, then started making another drink. No one made eye contact, everyone was in their little world. It got to the point where it got so awkward that I put my loose tea back and sped out the door. Beans and leaves, please don’t let your awesome customer service fall by the wayside, just because you’re getting more popular! Headed to Starbucks :(

Before entering this shop(or reading Unilocal reviews), I expected Beans and Leaves to be a chainy Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf styled place. FALSE! A charming setting coupled with phenomenal personalities and reasonable prices made this a place I will happily visit again. Decorated like a country kitchen, there are plenty of small tables that accommodate solo diners, couples, or that can be pushed together for larger groups. Tables along the walls have outlets available(a big win for me since cafes and coffee shops = work space for me). I ordered a coffee with milk and a slice of carrot cake loaf. The coffee was rich and delicious. They have great clear glass mugs that give you a generous servings… and they even offered me a refill! GASP! In addition to standard regular and decaf, there is a large variety of flavored coffees, as well as requisite cappuccino and latte style drinks. The carrot loaf was delicious, though not as carroty as I typically like. More like a regular pound cake with a bit of carrot and some walnuts. I was told the pound cakes are made with yogurt which reduces some of the fat and oil while preserving the richness. I don’t know if they lied or are genius, but it tasted like Paula Deen had a hand in the recipe. I didn’t regret a single bite. Coffee + a slice of this goodness came to $ 3 and change. Yes you heard that right. Coffee with an offer for a refill + snack for under $ 5. Sold. The staff was exceptionally wonderful. Prompt attentive service. Willing to make recommendations. Ready to pose for Unilocal pictures. I couldn’t love them more. A few of us compared notes of NYC coffee shops as well which was fun. I’ll certainly be back. You should go too.
