Service was decent, pad thai is pretty good. I had a rather large bug in my food, let the waiter know, no discount but he offered to have my food remade I didn’t feel like waiting so I declined. Over all a so so experience, I’d give it another try.

I always get Rama curry, vegetable spring rolls, and Thai iced tea to go. It’s always awesome.

Bad customer service. Forgot our drinks and had to remind them 3 time. Food wasn’t all that great and was so little for the price. They treated the table next to us so well by checking up on them and ask if they need more water. As for us, they had not. This place sucks so I don’t recommend it. They add 35 percent gratuity to our check wtf? No wonder it was slow.

Food is great– service came with attitude and haste. I recommend the pumpkin curry, Pad see ew, and coconut seafood soup

I eat lunch here at least once a week and it’s really very good. For Thai food at Tahoe I’d put it in a tie(thai?) with Thai Recipe in Incline Village. The menu is quite innovative — basically a list of sauces and you get to pick your protein. The Pad Thai is as good as I’ve had outside Thailand, and there are lots of specials. Good service from friendly people.

Hey Joe, we got whole fish today… fresh bass… good size … you like dat one? Now how can a traveling Hawaiian turn that offer down. «Fine,» I answer«We’ll have that for the«Orchid Fish,» That’s on the Chef Special. It’s fish fillets, or a whole fish. (when available) deep fried crispy, plied high with stir fried fresh veggies, topped with your choice of three sauces. A. Spicy Basil B. Fresh Ginger Black Bean, or C. Red Curry. We chose the Spicy Basil, As there were four of us, we were seated quickly as the restaurant was starting to fill, luck for us! The friendly hostess/waitress remembered us from a visit before and took very good care of our table. We started out with Papaya salad, nice and refreshing, shredded green papaya, fresh sliced veggies, beans, chili, peanuts, in Thai lime juice. Also Hoi Obb, fresh mussels steamed w/lemon grass, and kaffir leaves, served with a Thai spicy sauce. And we also got the Thai Chicken Wings. Deed fried chicken wings marinated in a Thai sauce. Main entrees were Pad Thai. Also dish called«Fantasy Island» it was combination of sea food, w/asparagus, bamboo shoots, onion, bell pepper, and topped with crispy basil leaves in a red curry sauce. That’s when our hostess came to our table with a proposal… see top! All the dishes were rich and flavorful, with a greater compliment for the mussels and the«Orchid Fish’» And for a big surprise, our hostess(her name was Chon) came to our table and asked… You want dessert? No thank you Chon, we sooo full. You sure… you no like dessert? No thanks too full… No… das okay I get you guy’s Thai dessert, Fresh sliced mango, sweet coconut sticky rice, with cream… you no worry Joe,… I buy for you. And with that… I had probably the best dessert ever. The mango was ripe sweet and chilled, the sticky rice was warm and coco-nutty, and the condensed cream made for delightful concoction. As full as we was, we couldn’t get our spoons into it fast enough. Perfect finish to a fine meal. This place has only been open for roughly 7 months, and might be catching on now, as it was quite crowded the second time we went. Looking for good Thai food in South Lake Tahoe? Try Orchids Authentic.

Do not order the tom yum soup. I felt like I drank a bottle of msg! My rice couldn’t absorb the saltyness. The only itle that was decent and hot was the Fantasy curry dish. It’s a combination of seafood with asparagus and basil.

Came to the 2 Orchid locations in Lake Tahoe, appox 3 miles apart– same owners, same menu, same mediocre Thai food.

Only occasionally do I eat out because I am often disappointed. The original Orchids in SLT was one of my favorites and I chose the new Stateline restraunt because of proximity since we were ordering in tonight. *As soon as I took a sip of my Thai Iced Tea in the car I was worried. It tasted like the syrup you might put in a Hummingbird Feeder and I have heard that this Orchids simply didn’t compare. I should have listened. *The House Salad that we split was o.k. because of the lack of dressing, which is amazing. I tossed it and there just wasn’t enough at all. We had to bust some outta the fridge. *Now this is where I get really bummed, because I’ve loved the White Orchid Soup. We order a large with shrimp to share. The soup usually features some nice exotic mushrooms but this one had plain old white mushrooms that looked precut and the normally succulent shrimp were of the rubbery precooked variety. *As an entrée we ordered the spicy basil which was nothing special at all. I could have picked something better out of the Chinese Buffet line. My sentiments are the same with the rice. I have heard that«the new kid on the block» Nakorn is exceptional. What, Rob W. posted they have an Avocado Curry, that sounds interesting. They are now at the top of my list so I can get this bad taste outta my mouth.

On our way out of town we all stopped here and had a great meal! Who knew there was good thai food in Tahoe? Wehad a bunch of different stuff, I myself had the phad thai, which was great, I tried the other soups people got and they were really delicious! Reasonable, tasty food. Giant, perfectly cooked shrimp is rare, nice job!

I’ve eaten here a few times and the food is ok. Nothing special but reasonably priced and pretty consistent. I get take-out mostly. In an effort to clear up some questions expressed by other reviewers, both South Lake and Stateline Orchid’s are owned by the same entity. Orchid’s in South Lake was great before the owner sold to the new owner, who also bought Thai Delight at Stateline and renamed it. In other words, the old Orchid is long gone in both locations. For excellent Thai food in South Lake, go to Nakorn(right down the road from the original Orchid’s). Nothing compares. Avocado curry is amazing. Enjoy.

I went here for lunch on a Tuesday. The place was dead at 12:30. The food arrived quickly and was good, but nothing to rave about. By 1, the place was busier, but not packed. The spring rolls had bean sprouts in them, so they had a weird crunch to them. The panang chicken was ok. The price was really reasonable for Lake Tahoe.

The same thing happened to us as Hungry G. We paid for a certificate and they refused to honor it. We will NEVER go back, and we are huge fans of Thai food. Bummer.

I got a certificate and went all the way there out of my way because of it. We were tired from snowboarding and hungry. Right on the door has the sign that they are not taking the certificates. Then why are they still selling them now? Horrible business practice! Where’s the coupon police?

I am a huge fan of thai food and I can honestly say this was the worst I’ve ever had, and the service was horrendous. It took at least 20 min. for anyone to come to our table when we first sat down and throughout the meal they came ZERO times so we never got drink refills! Also, noteworthy was my salmon dish that looked and tasted like an eraser. Note: This review is for Orchid’s Authentic II about ½ mile from Montbleu Casino. I have no idea if it’s affiliated with the other one that has great reviews. This location seemed to be new and has the same logo, but I’m guessing it’s not the same since the other location has so many great reviews.

Orchid’s Authentic Thai Cuisine II contracted with to sell discount dinning certificates for them only to then refuse to honor the certificates when presented with them. I didn’t try the food, why not, because I refuse to patronize underhanded businesses like this one.
