Got some more stuff here… mmm its not bad and not great but it hits the spot in terms of some form of authenticity, which i think will have me come back now and again… Mapo Tofu: Taste was decent enough. Didnt really taste like the mapo tofu im used to so i didnt really like it as much. Its more of a brown sauce mapo tofu, which ive seen/eaten before but i feel its more of a collegy taste rather than an authentic taste. It has peas in it and not enough chili oil or spicy sauce. Five Spice Beef Stew: Stew means theres sauce but not thick ass sauce like a curry. You can think of it as a thin watery sauce. Comes with carrots. Its got some fatty and tendon pieces for those that like that. Would probably get this again unless i can find it somewhere else that does it better in state college lol Stewed pork ball: In chinese the dish is called lion head. Its these ground pork meatballs if youve never had it before… Sauce came out like it would in cali… no problems there. The meat was a lil funny. Not as good as in cali but good enough. Again… id say id get this dish again unless i can find somewhere else that does it better in state college Overall, while execution isnt exactly ONPOINT, its fairly close in terms of authenticity for some chinese food that you cant find elsewhere. Because of that, id recommend this spot if ur lookin for traditional chinese thats not szechuan(cause szechuan is much better elsewhere)

When I was a student at Penn State, I would always come to Yummy café for their Singapore noodles. I tried a few other items on the extensive menu, but I was never as pleased as I am with the Singapore noodles. The price is unbeatable and it satisfies my noodle cravings every time. Heads up if you’re a student– often times their LionCash card swipe is not working.

I would like to compliment and recommend this awesome Chinese place. The pepper steak w onions is so good as usual, I’ve been ordering this every time I go. The beef is tender, and sauce is very Yummy

Quite possibly the worst Chinese food I ever had. Took an hour to be delivered for terrible food. Crab wontons were so overcooked I couldn’t eat them. Like I bit into it andthought I was gonna bust a tooth. Egg roll has no taste. Over fried and hard. I bet is what a hard sponge would taste like. I ordered the general tsao’s with light sauce. It was swimming in what seemed like sweet and sour sauce that has some kick to it. It was nasty. If I could give this place no stars I would.

Probably the worst quality chicken i have eaten while in the united states. Not worth the inexpensiveness.

Such good food, and the lunch special deal never leaves me hungry. And for the vegetarians: you can order general Tso’s with TOFU and it tastes amazing! (and I eat meat) When I do crave some beef I know they’ve got the ramen I need.

Oh, so salty!!! The wanton soup was impossible to consume — I felt the salt deposits were growing on my tongue! The shrimp with green peppers and onions, the mapo tofu and sesame chicken were all extremely salty. The portions were generous, but with this much sodium, who could eat it all???

Placed a delivery here today for some cheap and quick Chinese food. Well, at least it was cheap. The person delivering had to call multiple times for directions(which was fine), but it took forever and he still ended up going to the wrong building. I ordered the orange chicken and general tso’s. I can confidently say this was the worst Chinese food that I have ever had. Everything was bland except for the wonton soup, which was impressive compared to the chicken. The rice even had a bad taste — I didn’t even think that was possible. Anyways, Yummy Café, not so yummy. Never again.

Was visting town and was told by some friends to check the place out. Awsome food. Love the Ramen Soup. Nice healthy, light, and tasted great. Husband wife team were really friendly too. Place is kinda off a side street so, I wouldn’t have found it any other way. I’d say thumbs up to the place

I ordered Singapore noodles with fried tofu. They gave me a HUGE amount. 3 adults could easily order just one dish. Food quality was good. Not spicy. But I forgot to tell them to make it spicy. Bubble tea is available here. Will go back and try out other dishes.

Eating burnt food not to your liking? Well then don’t eat here!!! I ordered for lunch and came home with an overcooked meal. Everything was burnt. Even the veggies. This place give a new meaning to dark meats. Even the bone was darkend to an unsavory color. What the heck were they doing back in the kitchen? Falling asleep? If you are ordering take out, make sure you take a look at your food before stepping out the door. They also have posters with pictures of food but they don’t have it on the menu??? This just seems odd for a restaurant. It’s like clicking on an ad for Rogaine but instead you’re taken to a penis enlargement site. Not that I have done that…

Just finished a bowl of their House Special Beef Phở, and I’m pretty impressed. There are no other Phở places in State College(that I know of) so when I walked by their storefront yesterday and saw that they had phở I knew I had to stop back. The broth was surprisingly good, the noodles were real Phở noodles(not spaghetti like one of the other reviewers said), and the beef was very tender and tasty. The negatives would be that it didn’t come with the usual platter of bean sprouts, basil, and jalapeño peppers(the cashier said that the lack of bean sprouts was due to shortages from the hurricane), and there wasn’t as much beef as Phở 75 or other places usually have. All in all though, Yummy Café’s phở will do whenever I get a craving, and I’m excited to try their Tonkatsu Ramen next time.

I was pretty excited when I heard that a ramen place had opened up in town. Turns out it’s a national chain that’s all over the place… and by that I mean culinarily speaking. There’s phở, ramen, and«Chinese» food, as in Americanized Chinese food. They have ma po tofu on the menu, but since there is NO way in hell it could possibly be any better than what Chopstick Express cranks out on a regular basis, I stuck to their self-professed specialty: noodle soups with homemade(sic) noodles. Tried the tonkatsu ramen and the phở. Both broths, supposedly cooked for several hours, were pretty damn bland and rather similar. I mean, I can throw some chicken broth together with some meat, add store-bought spaghetti(!!!) and call it ramen, too… but that doesn’t make it right. And don’t get me started on the phở. What a shame.

Very disappointing. My friends & I were so excited to see Phở on the menu since Viet Thai closed and let’s just say, even after adding 2 hot sauces, it’s still the most bland thing I have ever eaten. We also tried the beef with garlic sauce and the smell alone gave me second thoughts. I braved a taste and it was ok, but definitely not what I am used to — very strong and vinegar-y. The crab & cheese wontons were ok — the order we got was a bit dried out. The pork eggrolls were decent. The final straw was when we found a hair in the sesame tofu — so it’s a big fat no way on trying this place again.

I liked this place and will come back. I ordered the Kung pao chicken — it was lightly breaded which was unusual to me. Coulda used some chili peppers too, but nothing a bottle of hot sauce can’t fix. Not the best chinese I’ve had, but better than most other cheap Chinese in town.

I’ve been here twice. It’s a fairly new place, and it’s a cute place. All of the phở places around state college have been shut – viet thai, tana(which was gross to begin with anyway.) So when I found this Yummy Café, I was excited to have some phở! Err, I got my food and realized this is more like a chinese version of phở that tastes nothing like an authentic bowl of beef brisket and cilantro flavored phở I am used to. I was very disappointed, and ended up just drinking the bubble tea I ordered(very good honeydew!!!) I came back here again to treat my hangover, but was disappointed, again. I have just about given up on every phở place in state college, and I guess I’ll just stick to Big Bowl noodle house as the closest bet in this small town.

In a town where all the chinese restaurants are owned by a couple few, I wasn’t too surprised when I got my food to see how much it looked and tasted just like Hunan Wok(it’s about .1 mile away). Same weird orange general tso(I asked for extra-spicy — it was blend), same eggrolls. My chow mai fun was okay but very unimpressive. I could be wrong, but I’d swear it’s the same gross food. I always give State College restaurants two tries, but I’m so tempted to just stay away…
