Maybe more of a 3.5. Wasnt mind blowing but i thought it was fairly solid. I have doubts on its authenticity but I didnt think anythin was bad at all. The portion size could also be better. Food: Green Curry Noodle– Exactly what it says… the noodles are like vermicelli noodles. I enjoyed the dish. Maybe it coulda been a lil richer or slightly creamier but i can see how watery works as well being that its a noodle soup dish. Braised pork noodle– I really dont think this is thai but anyways the broth really reminded me of TW beef noodle soup. It was just salty and flavored that way. The braised pork is kinda like pulled pork in a way. Decent amount of meat. Could have been more noodles/veggies but i enjoyed the dish overall. Overall, i like the food enough to keep comin back. Its not very authentic in terms of thai i think but in terms of having the asian flavors, its there.

My wife and I we’re visiting Penn State and having such a glorious time, that we lost track of time and forgot to eat. At which point, we couldn’t find a place open in the afternoon between 3 – 5. We were surprised Galaga by Cozy Thai were open so we decided to go on in. The interior looks very nice and there was no reason to be concerned about quality from its appearance so I got a soup special that had noodles and beef or whatever you wanna call it. No exaggerating, 70 — 80% of the meat was grizzle and I am not kidding. It got worse(or better if you are in the mood to laugh). When I brought this to the managers attention and picked through it holding up the low grade slop that they served us, he told me «Well, it’s not all grizzle!» I am not joking! He actually said that without smiling. He later went on to say«This is the way they do it in Thailand.» I stood there with my mouth hanging open, stunned at what he had just said and NO, he was NOT joking! My wife and I enjoy Thai food quite often, and we have never had reason not to, but this place was of THELOWESTQUALITY… After watching The South Park episode about Unilocal this week, I was reluctant to give a bad review, but this place was terrible, just horrible! If you do go, ignoring what I just reported, bring a barf bag. No joke! By the way, my Pomeranian spit it out when I offered some of it to her.

The menu is extremely limited, and the food was below average. I like Cozy Thai but this place was a complete disappointment for me. I didn’t even get the drink I thought I was ordering because the girl that took my order at the counter barely spoke English. There were no waiters or waitresses when I was there. There are plenty of great dining options in State College so don’t waste your time on this one.

Went there for the second time. Overall, I confirmed what I already knew, which is that I didn’t like their new fast-food version. The price is high for what you get and what you end up getting is not what you would expect from typical decent thai food restaurants, especially when it comes to the curries. The flavor is bland and they give you way too little sauce/curry for the rice. What is a curry without liquid? Yup, it is not a curry…

Great food and it came hot and fast. I got the pad Thai and my sister got the tamarind chicken. Both were great dishes! I would highly recommend.

Galanga recently re-opened with a new concept. There’s a limited menu, designed with quick turner overs in mind. The food was tasty and true to concept quick. There’s also a grab and go section which is great since there’s no waiting involved.

Completely updated Galanga. They serve a few dishes. Will take out anything but not add anything. So it was easy to get chicken and egg out of my dish but not get it made Thai spicy hot. The 3 dishes our table ordered all came in a big red bowl. Not sure if I will come back to this place. We love Cozy Thai and will stick with it. Everything has been updated. But I liked the previous glass tiles and wall décor. Oh well. Nice place for students who can order take out.

Disgusting! I hated the food from this place and so did my co-workers(5 of them to be exact.) I was craving Thai food one afternoon so I suggested ordering out. It was a lunch order to go. I order the chicken basil and the green curry chicken. Both were super gross. The veggies in both tasted like frozen veggies and just ruin the whole dish. The green curry chicken was overly spicy and in my experience not eatable. FYI: I love spicy food and that’s definitely per usual. The chicken in both also taste and felt like frozen chicken which I can’t stand. Nothing says cheap ingredients to me like frozen ingredient do. Seriously super gross for my palate. I ended up feeling so bad for my co-workers because not one of them out of the 5 ended up liking there order. It was a bad suggesting and nothing ruins a day like bad lunch. P. s. If you’re really not into quality over quantity like I am, check this place out and you might like it. The place actually has a very nice, expensive look to it with great décor inside. I would definitely say that décor gets a 5 but taste and quality of ingredients get a negative 0.

Delicious. Reminds me of Good Ol Viet Thai that used to be at Penn State when I was in school. Curries are flavorful and light. Service was great too !!!

A few friends of mine and I ordered out here after a football game and were not pleased at all. The Tom Yum wasn’t done well at all. It had too many of the flavor bits in that you have to pick out and had way too much mushroom. The Pad Thai lacked the flavor you’d usual expect, though it wasn’t bad. Strangest of all was the drunken noodles, it was more like spaghetti. The décor in the restaurant seemed very nice, but the food was well short of what I would expect.

The food was about on par with Cozy Thai(which makes sense). This translates to, the food is okay but nothing special and definitely not worth going to Galanga for. I’ve been once, with a medium sized group of about 10 people and we had made a reservation. None of our food was served anywhere near the same time(some people waited 10 minutes for their food, one poor woman waited nearly an hour for hers, a simple fried fish that should NOT have taken anywhere near that long. It came out cold. Additionally, we were not told that they would only split the check 2 – 3 times until several people had departed. Suddenly we were left with an un-itemized receipt and told that the restaurant did not have computers(really?!) and that we would have to do the math ourselves. Without a menu. So the other 7 or so of us sat around trying to remember menu prices, add in tax and tip, and essentially waste 30 minutes to pay in cash for a $ 200+ bill, without notice. I’ll pass in the future.

1. One star is for our incredibly friendly and generally awesome waiter. He was wonderful. 2. One star is for the décor. It has a trendy, urban feel and is a nice addition to State College. 3. Minus a star for the food. I asked for little or no oil in my Pad Thai. It was more oily than usual. The custard I ordered for dessert had hard clumps in it… yuck. 4. Minus a star for the chef who claimed the dish was oil-free.(No contest: there was a *ton* of oil.) 5. Minus a star for the guy on staff who was pretty rude(not our waiter) when I asked about the oil.(I asked nicely; on my best behavior… I promise. ;)) I had high hopes for this place, but overall, I was disappointed. **Bonus star in case I was there on an off night.

A very charming and inviting restaurant — right on College Avenue, smack in the middle of the«action». Recently renovated, it has a very appealing modern décor, practical layout and friendly staff. Before coming to dinner, hanging out at a happy hour, we heard very positive comments about Galanga, so we were looking forward to our meal at 8:30 pm. Three of us ordered shrimp summer rolls to share, my daughter and I split an order of tofu curry, and our guest had tamarind chicken. The food arrived promptly. The summer roll did not have any mint or other ingredients in it — just rice vermicelli and shrimp. Wrapped a bit loose, it was falling apart in my hands as I was trying to dip it into the peanut sauce. The tofu curry appeared«discolored» — washed-out grayish-white sauce; but the taste was fab! Good balance of spices and depth of flavors. If you can get past the«first impression», you’ll enjoy it. Our friend loved her chicken dish, and was happy to take the left-overs home. The {unexpected} surprise was that at 9:15 pm the waiter asked if we would like dessert, as the kitchen was about to close. The restaurant was open until 10 pm, and it was not packed for a Saturday night, where the staff would plan the advance orders to the kitchen. It looked like they were hoping to shut down and get out by 10, not just close the kitchen at 10 pm. Well, whatever. The food was good, and the prices are very reasonable.

I would say that with the choices state college offers on decent asian food(let alone thai food) galanga should get 5 stars. However, as a thai place itself, I would give it a 4 stars. The service is very friendly. Sometimes it takes a little longer than desirable, but overall, the service is great. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. It’s very modern and good for a fun date. I’ve tried 4 dishes there, and the only complaint I can think of is that a lot of their dishes tend to be too sweet. I would definitely recommend the kua kua noodle. It’s a great alternative to the pad thai if you’re getting sick of it :) I always enjoyed going to cozy thai and i’m glad they opened up a sister branch at their old location!

I love cozy thai, but it’s always super crowded. Oh, and finding parking around there is a nightmare. Luckily, Galanga has all our favorites from the CT menu and some new dishes to mix it up, plus it’s usually wayyyy less crowded(literally, we have never had to wait to be seated) and finding parking isn’t a problem(unless it’s a football weekend or something, but we all know that). The seafood pancake is delicious! Some of the dishes are a little different from CT(drunken spaghetti??) and I haven’t tried them so I can’t comment. Overall easily comparable to cosy thai in terms of price and flavor with a slightly less inviting atmosphere, but it’s a trade-off with ease of parking if you have to drive. Oh, I think it’s BYOB too?

Another awesome offering from the Cozy Thai people. I had the Prik Gang stir fry with chicken, and it was great. Can’t wait to go back and try more things.

love galanga! great food & friendly, fast service food: get the seafood pancake and crispy tofu! the pineapple fried rice is better than the one at my thai. don’t be fooled by the fusion look — the food is pretty authentic atmosphere: décor is very modern, ambient lighting. great for a date or large groups. there is always a good crowd on friday/saturday nights service: very attentive and friendly :) they ask if you want your food spicy or *thai* spicy.
