Bulldog Burger

This is a great place to grab a burger and beer. Their Mac and cheese was really good without an overpowering cheesy taste. The burger was of high quality. They have great beers on tap. What more can we ask for from a burger spot? My only disappointment was I ordered the Pimentology. Due to it containing jalapeño peppers, I’m to believe it is at least a little spicy. I couldn’t taste a hint of it. It was a great burger, so don’t let that prevent you from ordering it. All-​in-​all this is a great local burger spot.

Hamburger patty seems pre-​made. I thought I was eating at Hardee’s from the appearance, texture, and taste of the meat itself. Big point deductions for that. The bun however is nice.
Additional notes:
Salad dressings are a miss.
Don’t be fooled by the wording of menu items. If you get something such as the tater tot fondue… It is simply tater tots with raw jalapeños slices thrown on top and a side of Sysco queso dip. Meh.
Besides the buns, I can say the place has a good vibe and bar area; however, it’s disappointing in terms of food quality.

Thank goodness for William Goss or we would have never given Bulldog Burger a second chance. Our 1^st experience was on February 27^th of this year and we actually walked out but before leaving we let the young man, William, know we were leaving. He said please wait a few minutes and he came back with a gift card and our food we had ordered and a promise. If we gave them another chance we wouldn’t be sorry.
So on April 1^st, we came back with our gift card and friends. We all really enjoyed our food and our waiter Blake was very good.
We also had dinner there earlier this evening. Our waitress, Morgan, was also very good. She was friendly, helpful and efficient. My husband had their Hog Wild burger with fries and I had their signature burger, the Bulldog, which was delicious.
After attending MSU baseball game we came back with friends for drinks and appetizers and our waitress Jessica was great as well.
We really like this place!

Some of the better burgers in town. Though everything is particularly greasy even for a burger joint. Closer to big city prices than Starkville is used to, but gourmet burger experience and good ambiance.

Ordered to-​go and was not impressed. Burgers were undercooked (between rare and med-​rare) and the bottom bun was a greasy mess… and we didn’t get the fondue for fries we payed for. Shakes were good, though. We won’t be ordering again anytime soon.

Great service !!! Great appetizer of chili cheese fries ! SLIM wine selection! My children had good morning burger which I had a bite of — yummy — and the freshman 15 which was also good! I had kale state salad which is not good the quinoa got soggy and turned to mush in the dressing !!! Lesson learned — no salad at a burger place — the Shipley doughnut bread pudding is amazing !!

A cute place — nice atmosphere, good burgers (if you want a big, juicy, greasy burger), enjoyed it.

I’ve been here multiple times since it opened. I’ve tried the hogwild, pimentology, and BBLT. They’ve all been delicious and each visit has been a great experience. The tots are the best side and the atmosphere is fun and casual. Friends have also loved the philly spring rolls, freshmen 15, mission, and bryant.

Fantastic new restaurant. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger with the mac & cheese both were excellent and the prices are very reasonable!
Can’t wait to go back!!!

Bulldog burger is amazing! The food is great and if you haven’t tried their milkshakes I highly recommend doing so!

As good as I’d hoped it would be! My husband and I went early in order to avoid a wait and we were the last to get a table before the line began. The waitstaff was very professional and incredibly helpful. They got one small thing wrong on my husband’s order and quickly fixed the issue. The food was very good! I got the veggie burger, not typical for me, and it was fantastic. The husband got the mushroom swiss and was equally pleased.

Truffle fries are the BOMB! They have a Great atmosphere looks really cool at the bar and on the patio!

Best burger I have had in town! The flavor combinations they have here are worth the trip alone. The atmosphere is very modern with a Mississippi State twist. They also have craft beer on draft, some are Mississippi home brew. Family friendly.

My boyfriend and I heard this place had just opened and decided to check it out on a Saturday night. We were told ~40 minutes for the wait but were probably seated in about 20 – 25, which was great. Started off with a beer flight which is a pretty good deal (I think $ 6 – 7 for 4 4-​oz. pours?). I got the Black and Bleu burger and unfortunately was disappointed. I should’ve asked for it to be cooked medium because the burger itself was well-​done and didn’t have much flavor. I was also expecting blue cheese crumbles on top. not a burger stuffed with ordinary blue cheese dressing. My boyfriend got the Mission burger and said it was ok. Fries were good though, as was the service. It’s a cute place and I would probably go back and try something else. I get the whole gourmet burger trend they have going on, but I’ve definitely had better elsewhere.

Read great reviews about this place, so I thought I’d check it out. The atmosphere is great and wi-​fi is fast. However, I wasn’t really impressed when it came to their food. I tried the mission burger and it was just ok for me. This is probably not the place to go if you like spicy because they said they don’t really have spicy burgers. I also ordered the tater tots with fondue to go and they didn’t give me any fondue, but charged me for it :(

Upscale casual environment in the cotton district. Solid beer selection and creative burger offerings. The menu pays homage to the classic burger joint while nailing new American. Clean eaters will have to nix items with their order: mayo, cheese, and bacon is throughout the menu. I got the veggie burger sans mayo and it was awesome. The integrity of each item in the sandwich was maintained. The patty was the best constructed veggie patty I have had in the region and well worth the $ 11 price tag. I had a great service experience with my server. Overall a great dining experience.

Wednesday night date night? Absolutely! Hubs tried this place for lunch one day last week– I am a teacher so it’s rare that I can go for lunch with all the other grown ups. Anyway he really liked it so off we went for dinner.
We were met at the door by a sweet girl with a very outgoing personality, so she had me laughing all the way to our table. The décor is really great– lots of wood and metal. Sophisticated and cozy.
Our waitress, Madi, was knowledgable and friendly without being gushy. I ordered a Mystery Romp from Crooked Letter– the beer selection pleased me greatly. Hubs started with Chandeleur Li’l Smack IPA. We munched on the tater tot fondue. Not bad. Wish the tots were handmade.
Hubs had the Mission last week for lunch so this time he went for the Hogwild and truffle fries. Lemme tell ya. His burger was really good. The bbq’d onions really brought out deep flavors. The fries were really, really good.
I chose the Pimentology, yep– pimiento & cheese topped with a fried green tomato. I like the twang of the tomato– next time I’ll order without mayo. Madi suggested the mac & cheese with pork belly crumbled on top. I was skeptical but wow– the dish was creamy and full flavored. The smoked pork belly added a wonderful depth of flavor and texture. Hubs ordered a Sweetgum Standby but they were tapped out. However Madi brought him a sample of a different beer — like her initiative. He ended up ordering Luxkytown’s Ballistic Blonde. Have I mentioned how pleased I was with the local craft beer offerings?
We didn’t save room for dessert this time.
Excellent addition to Starkville! Great service. Solid menu. Local beer selection! Four stars because I think the actual meat on the burger could’ve been better and I really wanted those tots to be handmade. But all in all it was a great date night locale! We will definitely go again– got lots of other burger options to try! Maybe we’ll see ya there!

We ate here over the weekend and I’d have to say this is easily the best burger I’ve eaten in a very long time. I had the Bryant Burger and my wife had the Freshmen-​15. I will say this, prepare to eat a LOT of food. The burgers will fill you up!

Tried Bulldog Burger last night and we loved it! Amazing atmosphere and great food. It’s a bit like burger joint gone gourmet. All the materials were obviously high quality. Burgers were delicious, as were the fries – hand cut with some potato skin left on. What was really amazing was the tater tot fondue – crispy, steaming hash tater tots with jalapeños and a spicy queso dip. To die for! I’m so glad Bulldog Burger Company has joined the MSU/​Starkville community! It’s a great addition.

Bulldog Burger Company is what every hip, growing, college town needs and how great for Starkville! The atmosphere is something you will find in Nashville, TN; Austin, TX or Tribeca in NYC. I had a hard time trying to decide what to order. I had the mushroom and swiss burger (added bacon) but want to go back to try the pork belly BLT, kale salad and the Shipley’s donut bread pudding. Oh! And the beer sampler. The décor is great, the bathrooms are clean, the service was exceptional (impressive with it being the first day for it to be open) and the food was DELICIOUS. The tradition continues in the same location of Bulldog Deli but with a new concept that is relevant, hot and awesome!

They weren’t kidding around with the Jack Daniels in the glaze. I’m not much of a whiskey person, so I should’ve known better. It was just too strong to me! I got the Mac and cheese side. So good; the cheese tasted like a white cheddar; good but different. We tried the do-​nut bread pudding– HEAVENLY. Try try try! You won’t be disappointed. Service great on such a busy busy night (second day opened). Loved my first experience here :·)

Great buffalo wings and service. Best wings in Starkville, friendly staff, can’t go wrong.
